:annoyed: does anyonw have annoying no LOTR friends that are always bugging thme about Harry Potter... I am gonna commit suicide!!

Well, next time they say that Tolkein copied Rowling, just tell them that Tokien wrote LotR LOOOOOONG before the first HP was even published.

Well my friends are always teasing me about my obsession, so I'm always getting ticked off at them, but I'm afraid to say anything because besides the annoying LotR-related remarks, they're all really great friends. If I was courageous enough, I'd tell them that it really bothers me when they insult/tell me stupid things about LotR, but I'd say it in the nicest way possible. I think that's the only way to deal with Non-LotR friends... really nobody at my school is as into LotR as I am, so I really have no hope of having Ringer friends off-line. Sucks really big!

LoL Rowling was eight years old when Tolkien died.. I told my friend that and she looked at me like I was some kind of liar.

how the hell could Tolkien have copied Rowling when Tolkien died before she could have got the idea? I mean, u don't get an idea and then sit on it for 20 odd years!!

That drives me crazy! Luckily, I have now told all of my friends so many times that Tolkien wrote LotR when Rowling was eight that even if they still believe it they don't say it in front of me :-P But one of my friends hates LotR and loves HP - we get into such debates :-D

^You poor child. I don't know why your friend would call herself "prongs" as well, because that's James Potter's name, but anyway... tell her that there's no such thing as magic or Hogwarts and act very very blunt about it. A few of my old friends have just gotten over the phase of thinking that they might get into Hogwarts. Ugh.

How embarrasing! People like that give TLotR-obsessed people a bad name! I like HP. I'M OBSESSED with TLotR!!!!! I appreciate how none of you freak out like this. I read and respect HP because it doesn't come ANYWHERE close to The Lord of the Rings.

A person from my primary school ( who used to be my friend) is obsessed with HP.

we had a huge fight because she thought that LotR was copying HP. But then I showed her my dad's oldest copy of LotR from 1968. She was still convinced that Tolkien went into the future, stole Rowling's idea, and went back in time and published LotR.

I have cousin who thinks that Tolkien isn't as impressive as Rowling. :disgust: I was so shocked to hear that for a moment I was thinking about hitting her. :annoyed2: I am a HP fan but I am also a BIG fan of Lotr. :-D

:annoyed: yeah, I bet loads of people have had a disagreement over HP and LOTR
I told my HP obbcessed friend that there was no such thing as magic and she now refers to LOTR as 'lord of the dougnuts'. when i asked her if it was becasue u get ring doughnuts, she said no... :confused: worried ringer!!
try not to fight over it!
