Hey guys, I just thought I'd let you know TolkienGateway.net and TolkienLibrary.com are throwing a Release Party for The Children of Hurin on irc.tolkiengateway.net during April 15th-17th. Lots of prizes including 3 Deluxe editions of The Children of Hurin signed by Alan Lee and Christopher Tolkien. There's also going to be over a dozen guests artists and authors stopping by for Question and Answer sessions. For more information click here and we've already started a contest to give away one of the signed books, so you can enter that contest here

For the contest the code is "Hurin" and the answer is "signed"

Do you guys have any specific prizes you'd like to see given away, or specific guests stop by? I'll see what I can do.

Ohh wow, I would very much like to win that... but I have to give out my contact info even if I don't win... I'm a little suspicious about that since I don't want my mailing address and e-mail to be circulated to every advertising company on the Northern hemisphere....

The reason we are forced to require contact information is to prevent people from submitting multiple entries and ruining the contest. Point 12 states "All personal information is strictly private and will be deleted after the contest is complete." TheOneRing.net, SideshowCollectibles, etc. have to require the exact same thing. That being said if you don't feel comfortable doing something, then by all means don't, I'm sure everyone else won't mind less competition ;)

I didn't get to #12 *blush* but thank you for the info. I might enter now! (Sorry, for the increased competition...!)

You seem to know quite a bit about this. I'm curious. How are you involved in this? Administering websites, moderating, editing or what is your part?

Wow I'd really like to win one of those prizes, but I don't wanna take the costs for a prize being sent to me. I think it would cost a lot of money.. (depending on where they send the prizes from)
Also I don't wanna give away my phone number. My parents would freak out if anyone from TolkienGateway rang at my home.

Eä, Pieter Collier of TolkienLibrary.com and I are in charge of organizing the event so we handle anything associated with it :)

Fíriel_18190, while I think the shipping fee for the Deluxe CoH signed by CT and Alan Lee would be next to nothing compared to that prize, you could always just see if you win and then decide if it's worth it, not like you're under any obligation, we would be happy to give it to someone else. The address/phone/etc is only required because we need to prevent people from submitting multiple entries, the only contact you'll receive is by email if you win, and after the contest the database is deleted. That being said, you have to be 18 or over to enter for legal reasons.

Oh well then I can't enter anyway, because I'm not 18 yet. After what you said Hyarion it's a shame really.

Yeah that sucks. Alot of people here cannot take part for that reason.
