Okay, maybe my title is a bit too dramatic. But I do like polling everyone's opinions and it seems like every time I check the posts since my last visit, the majority of them are more about newer fantasy stories than LOTR. So...here's the poll! :bye2:

Man, that is a really hard question. I still love Lotr, but I believe our culture itself constantly moves forward. PotC is going to be growing out soon, but I am not too sure about Harry Potter. I think that one will stay for a little bit.

I believe that LotR is always going to have a set amount of fans, and will definetly be something to compare to. It will most likely grow some with more information about the Hobbit movie. Then, once that is over and done with, the numbers will more than likely decrease.

PotC is going to slowly decrease until uproar about the next movie... in I don't know how long.

I believe Harry Potter is pretty big, but I am not a really big fan of this. I also think Chronicles of Narnia is going to get pretty big really soon.

LotR is still my all-time favourite, but I do love PotC and Harry Potter as well. I think that since the three stories are so different, they will be loved by different people, and there are only a few of us who love all three of them. I mean, people might love all of them, but there are a lot of people who grow tired of some of them. I hope I won't though.

(hopefully that made sense to someone... :P)

Jep, that´s how I feel too...
LotR is closest to my heart, but PotC and HP are fun too.
..they have brought new characters to life, new stories to tell and old friends back..
..and that´s what a good story does

Well I love them all personally (and don't forget Star Wars). I love LOTR and POTC for the films and HP and Narnia for the books.

Even so, nothing moves me as much and grabs me as much as LOTR.Nothing. That is my favourite and will be for a very, very long time. I enjoy POTC more than I can say, but in a completely different way to POTC.

As long as people still like LOTR, it will go on for another 50 years and then another. :-)

From the moment I first watched FOTR I knew LOTR was going to be my favorite movie of all time. Then I went back and read the books again (having read them before seeing the films but maybe not fully understanding them) and fell in love with them too. POTC is amazing, and the three movies together are pretty high on my list of favorite movies, but nothing will ever top LOTR in my opinion.

ummm, I don't know if I should vote. :erm: by far LotR is a timeless, beautifully told story (that has something moving about it that one just can't pin down) but PotC also has a very special place in my heart... I really can't pick between the two because then it feels like I'm betraying the other. :P so I'll just say that they're both one-of-a-kind, quality movies in their own way... and they'll both go down in cinema history. (maybe LotR more than PotC but still ;))

^And even if the POTC movies don't go down in history, you know *Captain* Jack Sparrow will. :P

It's okay, I know some people may like them all equally.

The difference between LotR and the others is that it has already been around for 50 years and has had many loyal fans since the books were published. LotR already had a starting fanclub that was just added to by those who were moved by the movies (then inspired to read the books...).

I think Harry Potter might become the LotR of our time. Meaning that people will still be reading and enjoying it years from now (if all of the movies are ever released...)

actually maybe I'm the only one who didn't have to think before choosing LOTR...because to me none of the others choices are ever near to lotr...I mean, I enjoyed the first pirates of the caribbeans movie, but I didn't even watched the other two, and HP..well, I used to be a big fan of it, but minds changes, so...well, LOTR for me, without any doubt..

The Lord of the Rings is nearest to my mind, The Chronicles of Narnia are nearest to my heart, if that makes any sense.
I agree with whoever it was that said Harry Potter may be the LotR of our time. They've garnered a following very similar to the LotR following, though there won't be movies fifty years after they're written. So there likely won't be such a reason for more people to come to Harry Potter half a century later.

LotR is still my favourite... it's now closer to me than it ever was. It's just something that I'm really passionate about, and I think it'll be that way until I stop living. I like PotC, but I am not a fan. I like HP enough, but I am definitely not a fan. It's only Tolkien that can entrance me so. :)

LotR is still my favourite movie/book and I think it'll ever be. I could watch the movies over and over again. I just love LotR that much. :)
