i joined this forum not only for the forum itself, but because i want a ringer family. i want to have friends who share my love for tolkien. We should unite!

Same. here. If I try to start a random LotR conversation or tell them how many days until The Hobbit, they just look at me like I'm crazy or get really confused.

For a long time, we did have family trees, that you can still see in the archives forum! They were a great way to meet people and feel a part of the forum. Unfortunately, they kinda died out, and it's still up in the air whether they'll be started again.

My family and friends humor me when I talk about LotR. But only a few of them actually understand what I'm talking about. My dad still gets Boromir mixed up with Aragorn...

Though this is a pretty old thread: Feel the same. Of course, there are people around me that likes lotr. Especially my dad, I think. But still, there aren't any discussions. I can start talk about lotr (which i do as soon as we're talking about something that I can relate to lotr) and talk for ten minutes and just get "aha""hm", and stuff. Really annoying. So it is hard to find people that, no matter wether they like lotr or not, really want to discuss things and learn as much as I do... yep.

the Family Tree is being talked about again, and there's interest in starting them up again, but thats all thats happened with those so far, no definite plans, sadly.
