Shrug. My actual best friend is fairly ignorant of JRRT's works (and world), but does know to his puzzlement of my serious nerd status. In another JRRT site, I "know" that the only thing one member and I have in common seems to be Middle-earth. And we decided that was good enough to continue to interact on that very specific site. WWYD if you were asked to explain the difference between LoTR and The Silmarillion? |

I would explain it as the difference between a history book and a stpry book. While both are fictional, the Silmarillion covers a large expanse of time and numerous characters. Lotr only fpcuses on a single stpry, is more fluid, and perhaps simpler to understand. (Though I personally prefer the Silmarillion) WWYDI You found out that someone planned to try and clone Tolkien so he could personally write another trillogy and continue his writing career? |
