Ok, so in the Eowyn fan club, we have little discussions on Eowyn and her relationships and what ever. And Its really ver interesting and alot of fun. So in this thread, I am broadening the discussion to all of LOTR! Everyone is welcome to discuss everything, its not a member thing or anything. And if you have any disscusion ideas, PM them to me and I can use them in the future!
The first topic is.... How do you think Arwen would have reacted if she had left middle earth and gone to the undying lands, then later found out that Aragorn married another woman(Perhaps Eowyn)

Thanks for opening this thread first. At last we have something like that (actually I planned opening such a thread, but I'm glad that I didn't have to do it) I think she would have been very sad and hurt. If she had gone to the undying lands she would have been unhappy anyway I guess, because she would have acted against her heart and that is something which often makes u very unhappy afterwards.

I think Arwen would've been deeply hurt. She would have lost the love of her life just because she had to go with to her "home." She would also have lost Luthien's legacy. Valinor wouldn't have given her any satisfaction. I'm so happy that she did what she did.

*agrees* I admire her for doing that and her decision actually helped me in making a decision for my life, so she's very important for me and I think it was perfect for her to do what she did.

I think she would have been extremely upset, but I think that she would have understood. I mean she knew that Aragorn was the king and he needed an hier to the throne.

First of all, how would Arwen have been able to find out? Pretty much all the Elves have left Middle-Earth and no mortal can sail to the Undying Lands [with exception], so how would the word get to her? Personally, I don't think it would.
Anyway, on to the real matter at hand. Arwen would definitely be distraught, and probably angry at herself for leaving in the first place. She would probably tell herself that she should have stayed. But really how could she know that Aragorn was going to live? She didn't, she was pinning her hopes and dreams on the fate of a mortal man which would be pretty scary.

^ who know how she could have found out. But remember that Elrond later came... and later Legolas and Gimli, so who knows....
ok next question.....
It is never talked about in the books, but do you think that Legolas ever got married?

I don't think so, because it is said in the appedices that he went over the sea with Gimli and so I think if he had got married he would have stayed in middle-earth or he would have taken his wife with him, but somehow it wouldn't fit to him I think..

That's for sure. But if she did, sure, she'd be hurt--who wouldn't when they learn their love had moved on? However, she couldn't and wouldn't begrudge him such a thing, such a COMFORT, as having someone else, such as Eowyn or someone else entirely. After all, first, Arwen would come to realize SHE'D been the one to leave him behind in Middle-Earth, all alone, and after the war, with a throne and a dynasty to keep up. Secondly, if she really loved him, she'd remember that since she left him he needs some sort of comfort. It'd be really no different, in some ways, than a widower re-marrying. Think of it. To him, she's basically died. She's gone from his world, and I don't mean life, I mean Middle-Earth, for good. She's dead in all but his memory. He's lost his first love. He's found a second, different one.
Possibly, her father and mother would urge her to move on in Valinor too, and marry someone there. They might be in the same "boat!"

omg.. how did Eowyn see Wormtonuge?? I gotta think about that again before I answer, because I never paid so much attention to that (I know it's important though..) I see Wormtongue as a kind of desperate man, because he wasn't loved by the woman he loved. I think that was also a reason why he served Saruman. I think he hated Saruman in his heart, but he wanted to be near Eowyn and perhaps he also wanted to have more power and so he did it.
