He was probably using it in a metophoric sense. Plenty of people call young boys "son" when they're not actually related at all. (Or in least in books they do :P) Besides, Aragorn and Gandalf might have had sort of a father-son kind of relationship. Aragorn would always go to Gandalf for guidance and support, which is similar to what a son would do as well, I guess.

Or we could just say the people who made the tapes didn't know anything. :D

Meh...I don't really get that. You see how much joy and fufillment the Return of the King brings to Gondor. He should have felt some responsibility for his kingdom. :disgust: I never liked the fact that he only became the King of Gondor so that he could win Arwen.

it wasn't just for arwen (that was elrond's little way of getting aragorn to take up his birthright and make sure he was giving his daughter to somone who was worthy) he didn't know if he could resist the temtation that isildur didn't he didn't know if souron would be defeated. he didnt want to mess up like isildur he just didnt trust himself that he would be strong enough to do the right thing. he did feal responsibility for his kingdom he fought for it before the war of the ring also realize he didn't think he would be accepted as king. obviously denethor didn't want him there. even in the book rotk after the battle on the fields of pelenor he only entered the city to heal otherwise he lived outside the city gates  :bye2:
