Personality: Maribel is calm and sensible, witty and intelligent. She has a love for adventure, but sometimes refuses it if she believes it will bring harm to herself. She would just as well tell stories of the high sea as she would sail it. Her driving force is finding her daughters, and so she is extremely motivated and compelled to be reunited with them one day. She is somewhat of “the voice of wisdom” to those she meets, having died once already.

Weapons: A pistol and sword, which have not seen much battle; in her second life she hardly ever uses them.

Background/History: Maribel Candela Degaldo was born on March 19th in Barcelona, Spain to parents Leonardo Degaldo and Antoinetta-Ria Becerra. She was the last of four children, with two older sisters (Clarisa and Reina) and an older brother (Tercero). When Maribel was 15, her father was accused of murder by a group of influential noblemen and suddenly the family found themselves boarding a merchant boat out of Spain as fugitives from the law. The ship was due to make port in Mexico, but was stopped off the coast of Jamaica by the Royal Navy for inspection. The family hid below deck, but was quickly discovered by naval officers. Maribel had managed to escape into the ocean, but unfortunately the rest of her family was killed execution-style by the soldiers. At the sound of the gunshots, Maribel knew that her life would be changed forever - she was now an orphan and alone at sea. Not long after, she was picked up by a kindly old gentleman who took her in and put her through public schooling, also helping her learn fluent English. Three years after her family’s murder, Maribel met and fell in love with a young pirate named Peter Pierce. The two sailed the seas together on a ship crewed by the infamous Bartholomew “Black Bart” Roberts; however, Maribel had to disguise herself as a gentleman and went by the alias of Degaldo so as to keep her gender secret.

The same year, just before she turned 18, Maribel sailed with the crew to Mexico and explored a long-forgotten Aztec temple with Peter and the rest of the crew; here, it was discovered that she was truly a woman and Black Bart proceeded to maroon the two in the forest not too far from the temple. Upon further exploration of the area, Maribel and Peter came across a sacred shrine of an eight-armed goddess. Peter left to search for food, and Maribel waited, resting against the crumbling statue. A voice spoke to her; it was the long forgotten Aztec goddess of fertility. The deity, called Xochiquetzal, proceeded to tell Maribel that she was in fact, pregnant and would soon give birth to a daughter. Xochiquetzal had also peered into her soul and saw the purity that resided there - a good heart - and silently blessed her with the gift of a second life.

One month later, Maribel unexpectedly gave birth to her first daughter, Varianna Korinda Degaldo-Pierce, for she hadn’t gained weight as normal pregnant women had. This came as a shock to Peter and soon after he and Maribel married, beginning their life together as a family. Peter found work as a servant and Maribel as a maid. The two barely made enough money to support their family but were just able to afford a small, three-roomed shack on the outskirts of Port Royal. Maribel gave birth to a second daughter two years later, named Keyara. When Keyara turned 11 and Vari, 13, Maribel was suddenly overcome with influenza and not long after, passed away.

Peter, depressed, eventually drank himself to death and Vari and Keyara left home. Neither Vari nor Keyara had any idea of what was to unfold: the first rainfall upon their mother’s burial mound triggered the blessing lying dormant within Maribel’s corpse and with a crack of lightning and roll of thunder, she dug herself from her grave. She sucked in a breath of fresh air and felt her cold blood beginning to warm and flow, Xochiquetzal’s promise bringing her back to life; as if she had never died.

With the family dispersed, Maribel found herself alone, thought to be dead. She made a vow to reunite with her daughters, wherever they might be, and she began to search the Caribbean for them…

^I kinda picture it like how Will is trying to find his father, only for Maribel it's the other way around as she's trying to find her daughters... dead or alive, as long as she knows where they are.

And while watching DMC I thought of a few ideas for later in the plot, like when Jack sends Will over to investigate the partially-sunken ship before he meets Davy, someone could go with him and get "press-ganged" into DJ's crew as well as Will... I just thought it would be fun to run around with a bunch of fish men and play Liar's Dice.

I love Liar's Dice, it is so fun. I'll go over there with Will... I do really love the scenes he is on DJ ship all wet and shirtless <3

My advice if you don't have time or patience to watch the entire thing is just to sit down and watch the scenes we're currently playing out... it helps a lot to refresh and get you pumped up to type stuff out. *le nod*

EDIT: I read it Pan! I think A-Rose's randomness is great... definitely adds to the weirdness of the storyline. I dunno if Soren should be brought in.. there's already a plethora of charries and I'm planning to bring in Robyn Blackhaven when the opportune moment presents itself anyway...

That's good thinking. I wasn't sure where everyone was in the RP so I just made A-Rose lie on the ship. It seemed very her and of course Dante had to the join in the tomfoolery of it all.

^I know how you feel... I feel bad I had to get rid of so many but all of them were crowding up my OC thread and well... I kept only the favorites and most frequently played ones.

The PotC Obsession is finally kicking back in... watching DMC and AWE has totally helped and I'm really squeeish and all I can think about is future plot lines and trying to perfect Jack as much as I can.

I should go and watch DMC, I keep seeing it on television but I always catch it in the middle and I don't want to watch only half of it. I need to just sit and watch them all one of these days.
