Her father was Lord Calanon, an advisor to King Thranduil. Martial Status: Legolas Greenleaf's beloved wife History: Born as a Lady of the Mirkwood Court, her mother was a Lady of Rivendell and her father a Lord of Mirkwood who was both a friend and Chief Advisor to King Thranduil. As a young child, her parents recognized her affinity for the blade and bow, and her passion for the healing arts and sent her to Rivendell to study under Lord Elrond. There she remained for much of her life, until her parents were maliciously slain by orcs. Upon hearing the news, she raced back to the land of her birth only to discover that is was plagued by orcs, spiders and other foul creatures. Vowing that none should have to suffer the loss she had, her days were spent battling the foul creatures and her nights tending to the wounded. It was on one of these expeditions were she fought alongside Prince Legolas and the two found kinship and true love with one another. Afterwards the two spent countless hours together, their love kindled with each passing moment-much to the disapproval of King Thranduil, who wanted his son to wed a princess of Lothlorien of higher status. History: Born as a Lady of the Mirkwood Court, her telepathy powers were soon recognized at an early age and much of her time was consumed training in the art of war. She had both a natural affinity for both the sword and the bow and it was hoped she would become a champion of Mirkwood. Vanya spent many hours with the royal family and was the constant companion of Prince Legolas. The two were so close, that it was often assumed that both would become husband and wife. Yet, the affection that grew between the two was that of a brother and sister and no romance blossomed between them. King Thranduil then arranged a marriage for the prince with a golden haired elven maiden of Lothlorien. Many years after Prince Legolas’s marriage, Vanya traveled to Rivendell and later to Lothlorien to visit her kin. In Lorien, she learned healing spells under the Lady of Light and fell in love with Lord Thalion. Shortly after their meeting, the two were soon wed amid family and friends in the Golden Woods, each pledging to stand by the other for eternity. Her parents gave her their blessings, yet, there was a bitterness at their parting as they could sense they would not see her again. She dwelled in Lothlorien in peace for many more years, until she received word that her parents were maliciously slain in an orc raid. Angered at herself for failing both her duty as a daughter and her duty to her country, she and her husband quickly raced to the land of her birth to aid in defending the embattled kingdom. Fleeing his dark domain, she traveled to Mirkwood, dwelling in the shadows of the woods, a virtual outcast among Thranduil’s kin. It was in a spider assault where she aided the king’s forces, slaying many of the mutant beasts, yet lay gravely wounded from the battle that she was found by the king’s son. Smitten by her both her beauty and courage, Prince Legolas carried her back to the palace for healing, caring for her as if she were his own. Under the attention of the Mirkwood healers, she soon recovered and awoke to find the prince sitting at her side, his eyes filled with concern for her. After a brief introduction by both warriors, Elarinya found herself confiding her dark history with the Prince despite her reservations, and expecting nothing but scorn from him she turned away as she finished her tale. Legolas gently cupped her chin in his hands, turning her face to his. He in turn spoke of how he was trapped in a loveless marriage with an elf maiden of Lorien who deserted him to be with another lord. Recognizing a kindred spirit, Elarinya felt her heart fluttering with love for her rescuer and as his lips brushed against hers in a passionate kiss, she did not rebuff him. Since this ability is under conscious control he can drain a victim's energy with a single touch (if he so desires) or if he chooses to attack from a distance, he can create a dark aura that envelops his victim. When he absorbs their energy a slight purple aura surrounds his body. The ability ‘drain life’ can work both ways. He can use it to boost his own power or he can use it against himself to transfer some of his energy to help restore the life of a friend. When he uses the ability against himself, nothing appears to be different until he transfers his energy upon which the recipient is surrounded by a slight purple aura. In that sense it can be used as an ability to heal superficial wounds of others, but it comes at a price as it weakens him.
