Sygnet smiled at Micha and her father inclined his head. he turned his attention to his daughter and noticed her bloodstained clothes and the bandages, "What happened to you? You look terrible, come inside," he said, welcoming them in.

Sygnet followed, mentioning to Micha to follow, "A bear attack. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for Micha. I owe him my life," she said.

The house was warm and cozy. It was small, really built for one but there was an arm chair and a cushioned sofa before a large fireplace. The warmth if the fire was welcoming after the chilly Autumn air, "Thank you for granting my daughter's safety, Micha," he said to him, nodding.

Micha walked immediately towards the fire and stood. "I only did what any good traveler would do if they came across someone in trouble." he assured him.

Armani smiled, "I thank you all the same," he said, "How have you been?" he asked his daughter.

Sygnet smiled, still a bit uncomfortable as she sat down on the sofa, "I have been well. Expanded my sword talent. I bought a horse a while back. She's been a great companion," she said.

"Excellent! You are an adventurer, Micha? What do you do?" he asked, him as he began making herbal tea.

Micha shrugged. "I've made bree my temporary home between adventures. I go out in search of orcs...goblins, wolves... any evil that troubles the land. I plan my attacks and hunt the enemies until I have looted as many items as I can carry of value and then I head to the nearest city to sell my loot. Once I am tired of that particular location I head on to another or back to bree for a rest."

Sygnet smiled at him as her father brought them tea, "Well, that sounds like an adventure," he said, smiling as he sat in his armchair. The fire was warm as the heat flowed gently over them.

Micha wasn't one to beat around the bush. He thanked Armani for the tea and glanced back to the fire.

"I suppose you can guess why I have come to Rivendel...the rumors have spread over the furthest reaches of bree land and into the shire that a new evil is rising."

Armani nodded, "It is true. Lord Elrond has voiced his concern to me personally. It is dark times, indeed," he said, solemnly. Sygnet had too heard these rumors but hearing about Lord Elrond's concern for it showed how important this was.

Armani sighed, "About as much as you. They have heard disturbing rumors of death and darkness coming from the North. The Rangers haven't been able to investigate further," he said and Sygnet looked crestfallen.

"I hope they are only rumors but that doesn't seem likely," she said.

Micha sighed. "When is the next group going out to investigate and who is in charge? I should like to go if that is acceptable."

Armani frowned, "Are you are a Ranger, boy?" he asked, curiously.

"I'm an adventurer," Micha replied.

"You might have heard of the Ice Queen who dwells in the misty mountains deep in the caverns....she has given me this as a token to the elves. A proof of my valor in combat."

Micha pulled a small ice crystal out of his pocket. At least it looked like ice, but it never melted.

Sygnet looked at him, curiously and Armani nodded, "Well, if you wish. I could see what I could do. I can send a raven to the North Downs and perhaps you can go with their next party," he said.

Sygnet spoke up, "Father, I want to go with Micha," she said.

"Thank you," Micha said with a nod.

"Either way, I'll be heading that direction but I would prefer to go with a company."

Armani looked at his daughter with a scrutinizing gaze, "Sygnet. I just got you back. I don't want to lose you again,"

"Father, I will be fine. I promise," she said and Armani sighed, and turned to Micha.

"Can you promise to return my daughter to me in one piece?" he asked, genuinely concerned for her safety.

Micha looked at Sygnet. "I just met your daughter, but I do know she is a skilled warior," Micha replied. "I myself am a survivor... surviving is what I do. I might not be the hardest fighter but I will survive. I'll do my best to keep her safe. You have my word."
