As the hobbit, Bilbo, Aranyë reminded herself, ran around trying to find enough food and wine to satisfy the dwarves, Aranyë, who wasn't hungry, went and sat in a corner of the dining room by herself.

"Oh, hey," said Aranyë. "Remember how the dwarves took me in when I was little? (It's in my bio, in the first post.) Well, they didn't have anything else to do with me so they brought me along!"

Against her will, Kalli had to go with Bofur, Bifur and Bombur instead of her cousins, Fili and Kili. They were all related some way, but Gloin was her one of her closest relatives, her uncle. She rang the doorbell vigorously, wanting to get out of the cold and inside where she assumed Fili and Kili were. A very annoyed hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, who had a very red face, opened the door. "Kalli at your service," she said, bowing low in a dwarvish fashion. Then squeezing through the doorway, she went in and made a dash for her cousins. "So you've finally arrived, Kalli!" Kili exclaimed. "It's nice to finally see you, Kili! I've been waiting for ages. Bifur, Bofur and Bombur aren't as much fun as you and Fili, of course," she said with a huge grin. Then she noticed two elves sitting beside the fire. "What are they doing here?" she whispered curiously to Fili.

(Actually, I am human, Aralas. ) Fili smiled. "The red-haired one, she's this girl we found a while back, almost 10 years ago, actually, and we've kept her with us ever since. She is human actually but she may have some elven blood in her, she sure looks like in elf! Her name is Aranyë. As for the blonde one, that's Erestia." He paused and pondered this for a moment. "Well, I'm actually not sure exactly why she is with us. You could ask her though." Suddenly Aranyë looked up and rushed over. "Hi! I'm Aranyë!" She said shyly. "Are you a dwarf woman? I've lived with these dwarves awhile, but I have never seen a dwarf woman!"

"Hi! Pleased to meet you, Aranye," Kalli said,"yeah, I'm a dwarf woman, but I don't care much for beards and things. They're for men, I mean, male guys. I'd rather look like an elf than those popular dwarf women they run after." Kalli rolled her eyes. "Did you get invited to this company, Aranye? How did you get in the company? I'm one of Fili's cousins, by the way, and I had to beg my way in this company."

"Well," said Aranyë, "basically I just tagged along because I had been with them so long that I had nowhere else to go." She sighed. "Sometimes I wish I knew where I came from, though. My earliest memories are of the dwarves finding me when I was ten. I got a concussion and can't remember anything before that."

Kalli raised her eyebrows. "Oh," she said. At that moment, the doorbell rang. Kalli turned to her cousins. "If I'm not mistaken that should be Thorin." Then she walked to the hallway just in time to see Thorin step into the hobbit hole.

Kili went off to greet Thorin. But Fili stayed with Aranyë. "Fili, I feel like an outsider," she sighed, "why does everyone seem to hate me? I know Erestia likes me, and most of the dwarves too, but Thorin doesn't and I don't think Kalli approves of me."

Kalli sighed as Aranye approached her. (Am I right??? Or is this a misunderstanding?) "He's really hard to please. Although my aunt Dis says that he was a really happy, nice guy before Smaug did all that stuff in Erebor. I don't think I can believe her," Kalli said to Aranye. "But my friendship with Fili and Kili helped me get in here. The dwarf girls who wanted to go chasing after Fili weren't let in, to my relief," she continued with a roll of her eyes.

Kalli gave a small laugh. "I wasn't born at the time. But Dis says that it was a wonderful place. I can imagine the Arkenstone, but I think it will be much more than I have imagined. I'm very interested in Elves, and although dwarves are good company, I think it's nice to have a mix of races for a change." Then she smiled.
