Dea returned smiling " sorry I am always torn in two....do you spin yarn or work with a loom? '' Dea asked sitting in front of a huge loom, her small frame against the loom made her look like a child. On the loom was a beautiful silk cloth it was blue and gold like the morning sun on a lake. Dea began to weave thread into the loom deftly a steady pattern of the hiss of thread being moved then the fft fft fft of the brush pushing the thread down then clamp as she changed rows and then it repeated. she had placed a few lumps of raw wool in front of Katria " that needs to be spun into thread... " placing a heavy weight in her hand. Deawen had always been a domestic slave she did house work not field work.
Tainar gave cloths to the new arrivals (except for Katria who already was clothed) then he assigned those that did not have work. four of the slaves where to work around the land the other two were to work in the kitchens leaving Kith to help Tainar with odd jobs around the estate.
" the courtyard could use a good sweeping" Tainar said handing Kith a broom.

Kith glared at the man, but took the broom, though he did so grudginly. He stretched his wrists before he began. He had built up thick, wide calouses from all the times he was chained, but that still didn't stop them from getting sore, espescially when he fought them as hard as he did. He found himself surprisingly glad for Deawen and her balm. It had taken the edge off the pain, clearing his mind just a little. He preformed the task quickly and probably not to the standards of the master, but he didn't care, not at the moment. He was surprised at his position. Most slavers would take one look at his height and strength, then send him to the fields. This Tainar seemed to be slightly more intelligent, keeping him under careful gaurd.

( I think you just described my sister when I ask her to muck stalls..or to feed the horses)
Tainar watched Kith from his office a small plain room filled with papers of the estate. shaking his head when Kith gave only half the effort to sweep the courtyard. the sun drifted in the sky making the humid air roast anything in the sun. the cloth room became stiffling hot the courtyard was the only cool place in the house all the domestic slaves brought their work out to the courtyard if they could. Deawen soon chased out by the heat sat under the veranda tuning a dulcimer she seemed to have andless tasks from weaving to odd jobs. soon she played fimilar tunes from folk songs the music echoing in the courtyard. the strings hummed as they were plucked rapidly and with skill. she seemed tireless as she played. quiet conversations added to her music someone sang softly to the Dulcimer making the courtyard serene and peacful.

Katria looked at Deawen and shook her head. "I am always been stronger at field work and hard labor outside than with the work of sewing and such. My hands are not calm enough for such a delicate thing and I have not the patience to learn, for I was not taught as I was young. As I already said, I have always been better - and prefered - field work." Katria shrugged and then saw that other slaves were being put to work. but the one that caught her eye was Kith (for she could see him out the doorway), as he did eariler. But then she looked back over at Deawen, coughing slightly, and then asked, "What work am I doing, then?"

I do not know I guess i will have to come up with something" Deawen said not looking up from her playing it was too hot to back to work and she was ahead of the others in her work. " women here do not work in the fields" she said after awhile of silence.

Katria looked down at her, astonished. "Do not work in the fields? Please, I must be mistaken...that is, that is...all I am good for!" Katria said, looking at the ground. "I have never down anything else!" She added, calming down a little. Was she going to the auction for an 8th time?

(Alright, Deawen, you asked me to join, so here I am!)
Name: Durga Ardol
Race and Gender: Female Easterling
Appearance: Usually in reds and dark oranges and purples, but wears a linen shift covered by a long, button-down kurta with a high collar. Her legs are covered by ankle-length dhotis. Shoe wise, she wears slippers made of silk and satin, nothing good for any sort of work. Reminiscent of Parminder Nagra. (to clarify what most of these are, I would suggest my friend, Google Images)
History: Is the daughter of Lord Ardol, is very snotty (Daddy's little girl), and REALLY does not like Deawen, for reasons I will have to think of later. Seemingly lives to make most of the slaves' lives much harder (Much like Lucifer from Cinderella). Enjoys getting others into trouble.
Others: Is educated in reading, writing, and the rudiments of arithmetic, and is scheming and clever. Sings and plays the lyre. Has three cats named Nedhudir, Celunibeniel, and Laindessiel.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Durga lay on her stomach on a chez lounge in her spacious chambers lazily waving a feather to entertain her favorite cat, Celunibeniel. This special animal had come to her all the way from Gondorian breeders, and had cost her father a pretty penny. A young girl slave was fanning her slowly with a fan made of some hard, dark wood, now doubt also expensive. This was one fo the few slaves to whom she was kind. "Padda, get along. I'm going for a walk." The little girl carefully put down the fan into a large urn and scampered away happily. Durga smiled as she watched her go, and went to ask Dorgon about the new slaves that were to be bought that day.
(Celunibeniel wouldn't be a fancy name for Cody would it? I'm just guessing considering you have three cats and Cody was from a breeder. btw Welcome )
" there is not enough land here for women to be needed in the fields, I am sure we can find you work. don't worry you be sold again...." Deawen said absent mindedly still thinking of what she could do to help.
" I got it, the orchard needs and extra hand carrying the baskets to the store room I bet you could do that. " Deawen said getting up "go to the storeroom and see if they could use some help" she said another slave came up and said that the Mistress needed her, she sighed and left the courtyard Dea was quick on her feet as she went up the servant stairs she opened the door to the stairs quietly she turned the corridor corner and almost ran into the Lady Durga she froze caught off guard then collasped to her hands and knees if there was one person that made her life misirable it was Durga
(it's like Durza with a g)
Katria nodded, as if Dea had read her mind. "Thanks for understanding and I will go and check it out." Katria ran out of the room and as she made her way to the storeroom, taking the outside route, for she loved being outside, she ran into someone sweeping the front deck, almost tackling them. Katria noticed this to be the lad Kith.
(No, I'm pretty sure it's for Riley, because she's my favorite. I didn't even think of the breeder part.)
"In a hurry, are we?" smirked Durga. "You're lucky, I'm am as well. Tell me, where is my brother?" She bent down and flicked a speck of dirt off of her shoe that Deawen had kicked up. Before Deawen could answer her or apologize for the speck of dirt, Durga sneered, "My, my, these shoes will need cleaning before the day is out." She straightened up, expecting answers for both questions.
Deawen gritted her teeth silently before answering
" My Mistress calls so i answer, Your brother is supervising the work to the northern wall My lady" she answered but what she meant to say was none of your buisness, the lazy pig your brother is tormenting the slaves working on the northern wall but she kept quiet. " shall I wash your shoes my lady Durga?" she asked not looking up
she had this horrible sinking feeling that her mistress might want her to clean up Durga's room or worse become her Maid....
she cringed at the thought she would rather live with dragons than be Durga's maid.
(I just thought of something Durga reminds me of Hastsumomo
" don't touch mythings you stink!" or " I can hear the general now
why Hatsumomo you used to smell of Jasmine whats this new perfume? Blowfish?")
