"I can see it in your face. You dread going." Lona called across to her, watching her closely as they went. She didn't blame her. "Why?" she finished, giving her horse more rein to run faster. Time was of the essence, and could not be wasted.

"Have you had the pleasure of meeting the Steward?" Caran asked, a sarcastic tone underlying the word pleasure. "If you haven't, you are going to wish you never bothered when this journey is over. I much prefer his son Faramir. He is more empathic. He is much easier to talk to. Boromir is not so bad either. I can see the beginnings of his fathers traits in him though..." she grimaced. Perhaps their journey would save that from happening. "The Steward is a coward. He burries his head in the sand when he should fight. He is no leader.." she spoke darkly, rolling her eyes.

"I have met him. And no longer stand on good ground with him. I never said a word...but...should he be assassinated while we are there, I did nothing." It was meant as slight humor, yet there was an underlying threat in her voice. "I swear by the gods..." she shook her head. "He is indeed a coward."

Caran chuckled faintly. "You'll have to get in line i'm afraid," she winked playfully at Lona. "Oh let us hurry and get it all over with. The sooner we get there, the sooner we can leave and wash our hands of that foul man!" She giggled again. There was something about running in the free air that made her giddy and excitable. She knew she needed it after the battle she had just been part of. The next battle was going to be worse and she knew it.

Lona rolled her eyes with an amused smirk. "Foul. Or is it fowl...Would you call him a chicken, or a pigeon?" she giggled. She urged her mount faster. "There! We are at the boarder now!"

"More like a rat," Caran answered smoothly, as though she had given it much thought already. Caran looked ahead. "You would think that would excite me. Instead I want to turn and flee in the other direction," she grimaced once more. "However I am much braver than he will ever be." She straightened her shoulders as though proving her point.

"Yes. More brave than even some of the sniveling cowards he claims to 'train'." she snorted. She could see the white city, and dreaded entering for two reasons. One: she hated the steward. Two: she had always found Faramir attractive, and was tongue tied whenever he was in the same room as she. She would just avoid that. "Shall we, Caran?"

Caran dismounted from her steed and walked the remaining distance to the brown gates that opened to welcome them. Caran sighed softly as she stepped over the threshold. She would prolong speaking to the Steward and indeed Boromir for as long as she could. She dreaded the hot flush that would creap onto her cheeks when Boromir was around. Once inside she crossed over to the stables, intent on making her steed comfortable.

Lona dismounted, doing the same as Caran. Her mind was elsewhere. Was on the battle, and how she would prepare. "I need some new weapons...would you like to accompany me to the town square?" she asked casually.

(can we twist it a little bit and make them fall in love with Faramir and Boromir? I can at Boromir xD)

"I like the way you think my friend," Caran threw a glance to the sky where she could see the top of the white city. They would be in his citadel soon enough. What was wrong with a few stops along the way? Caran smiled at Lona as she made her way to the town square.

Lona smiled, but it was slightly strained. She stopped at a few booths. "Caran...what do you think of this one?" she held up a long sword with a carved dragon for the handle. "Not to use in battle, but as maybe a memoir?" she was trying to divert her mind. "Here...throwing knives..." she made one purchase, but really did need a good battle sword.

"Too flashy," Caran commented. "I mean it's nice and all, but would you use it or need it?" Caran crossed over to the throwing knives, gathering a few. "I need a new bow and quiver...It would have been best to go to the elves for that though..." she pursed her lips, scouring the blades idly. "How about twin blades?" she asked casually.

"Twin blades...how much would you really use them?" she pursed her lips thoughtfully.

"I like twin blades." Boromir couldn't help but over hear. "My apologies for interrupting, but I think they would be very useful, should you actually intend on using them to fight."

Faramir was by his brothers side. As much as he knew his father favoured his brother, he did not allow it to spoil his relationship with Boromir. "And that blade is far to heavy to be useful at all...The dragon could be worked better too." He crossed over to the women, glancing at the weapons on show.

"I trained with..." Caran trailed off having just realised who she was speaking with. She cleared her throat. "I have trained with them before...I could perhaps..." she could feel the heat rising to her cheeks. "I could perhaps do with a refresher course..." she waved her hand in her face in an attempt to cool down.

Lona blinked as she watched Caran. Could it be? She froze when Faramir spoke. "Of course.." she said shortly, dropping her gaze. She set the sword down, glazing at Caran. She began plotting. "We...we came to speak to the Steward..." she straightened her shoulders. She knew she was just a soldier, a commoner at that. "Is he available at the moment?"
