Frera giggled brightly. "Oh come now. Lets not be shy around eachother. Was this visit not for my approval?" She asked turning to Thoril.
"Yes...but I never expected...I..." He stared at his mother in awe.
"You know it is rude to stare..." she chastised. "One moment..." she disappeared upstairs and soon reappeared with her wedding band in her hand. "I am not saying to do it now. It is not afterall romantic now. However..." she placed it into Thoril's palm. "For when the time is right." She took her seat once more and continued to eat.
"I cannot take this. Father gave this to you..." Thoril began to protest.
"You will take it Thoril. That ring was a symbol of your father's love. It will now be a symbol of your love. I need no symbol, Thoril, to remind me of your father. I need only to look at you." She kissed her son's hand softly.

Callie stared, covering her dropped jaw with her hand. She couldn't say anything, her throat had locked up tightly. The tender moment was not something that she would have wished to be present for. It was between them. Between mother and son, private...

"Now, about this wedding fayre..." Frera continued. "It was only a suggestion. Whatever the two of you want to do, feel free to do it. I have some errands to run before I have any free time anyway. Off course you two will probably want to relax for a bit too," she smiled faintly as she began carting her plates into the kitchen.
Thoril smiled apologetically at Callie, watching after his mother.

Callie's now huge eyes stared after Frera, and she looked very confused and befuddled. Or was it befuddled and confused. "...Thoril?" she asked slowly, her tongue feeling thick.

Thoril waited until his mother was in the kitchen and he could hear the sound of running water. "Forgive my mother. She loves to pry and never knows when to stop." He looked up from his plate to Callie. All of his appetite had gone. "If it is all too soon, I can understand that. You came here expecting to meet my mother and get to know me better...not receive a proposal and have wedding plans rammed down your throat." His eyes were drawn to the kitchen door. "I guess it is something we both need to think about..."

"I...I don't mind." she blushed furiously. "I...like the idea." she couldn't look at him now, embarrassment spreading to make even her toes and the tips of her pointed ears red. "Forgive me.."

Frera emerged from the kitchen, fully dressed and ready to go out. "Enjoy your afternoon. Just yell if you need me. I wont be far from home." She smiled warmly to the two of them, before vanishing out the door.

Thoril waved to his mother distractedly. "Perhaps we should talk about this later. My mother's right this is not the most opportune time I guess. Proposal over breakfast..." he snorted slightly.

Callie swallowed. "Of course." maybe they shouldn't talk about it, even later. She stood. "I..need to go change." keeping her head down, she headed for the stairs.

Thoril stood and watched after her. "Callie?" He asked wandering over to the stairs. "I do want to marry you. I cannot live without you in my life." He lowered his head, realising what his hesitation would have meant to her. Idiot!

She hadn't even heard him over the wild beating of her heart. She hadn't hesitated. She did want to marry him...yet...she closed the door and the soft click of the tumblers invaded her ears as she subconsciously locked it. gods! she thought. Perhaps she had misread his meaning behind bringing her now to meet his mother? She shook her head, reaching for a kerchief to tie around her head and stuff her braid under. She needed some fresh air.

She glanced down at her dress, realizing it was too fancy for a mere walk in the city, so to speak. She changed into a plain, grey shift, that hung more loosely around her body rather than hugging her curves. She slowly unlocked the door and peeked into the hall that lay beyond.

Thoril was waiting for her. "Please. Wait. I wasn't hesitating. I was merely unsure if you were ready for that step or not. I am ready to take that step. I was scared to let on that I was ready, thinking that it might scare you off. Callie I love you more than life itself. I can't not have you in my life. I would be the happiest man alive if you would be my wife." He exhaled heavily.

Her eyes wide, and her expression unreadable, she stared at him for long moments, blinking slowly. A deep swallow. A shifting of feet. Then a small, but genuine smile curved her lips. "Yes, Thoril." her voice squeaked, "But...I...do not feel rushed...or obligated..." she glanced down the hall, as though Frera might still be there and listening.

Thoril returned her smile. "I guess there is nothing more to do than this." Thoril dropped to one knee and produced his mothers wedding ring from his pocket. "Callie Seaster, will you make me the happiest man alive and be my wife?"

Her eyes widened and she stuttered, trying to swallow. "I...I...ye...yes.." her ears had turned bright red, and now she gulped heavily.

With a triumphant smile, Thoril reached for Callie's hand. Gently, he placed the delicately woven and intricately designed white gold band upon her finger.

Callie stared at it in awe. "I..." she looked back up at him, her brown eyes wide. "Are you sure?" it came out in a choked whisper.
