Dûrion noticed the boy's anxiety and thoughtfully he studied the Elf's reaction. It was unlike he'd had ever seen before and could only conclude that the boy was possessed by a great kind of fear.
Though not shiffting his gaze, the Ranger's thought dwelled back to other matters. Before he was distracted down here he'd intended on speaking with the King as his message was a matter of urgency. There had to be acted quickly now he had come to warn Minas Tirith about the dangers which lured in the North. He had seen them.. on his travels out there in the wilderness.
Dûrion took another sip from his flask, deciding that the lad was not important now, that he would find out eventually. His first priority was his conversation with the King.

Taevi chanced a glance over his shoulder at the ranger, assessing him with his empty grey stare. He had the air of a traveler about him, one who seen much in his lifetime. His gaze was curious and distracted, but also fearful. All humans brought about a certain amount of distrust to the halfblood, and Dûrion was no acceptation. He shifted anxiously in his seat and dared to lock eyes with the man a moment before quickly turning his gaze away as a movement behind the man caught his attention.
Leuwynn, Captain of the Guard, had entered the hall like a shadow in his usual quiet manor. He seated himself across the table from Dûrion, glancing in the same direction the ranger was. The Gondorian gave a sharp nod. "Interesting being, isn't he?" he said quietly to the other man.

Valya turned from her assessment of the hall, as always keeping a watchful eye on her patients, back to the members of the table. Taevi in particular. His behaviour was getting odder, and Valya knew the cause. One dark red eyebrow raised carefully as she glanced over her shoulder towards the man who Taevi had been looking at.
"Are you alright?" she asked Taevi once she had looked back at him, her tone concerned, and only just a shade above a murmur, as always.

Dûrion chewed on his pipe and replied Taevi's gaze, which corresponded with that of an trapped animal, with a stare. He did not turn his head when the Captain of Minas Tirith joined him. Instead the Ranger remained silent for a while and then replied vaguely. "Yes.. he might be.."
There was another silence in which Dûrion put his flask back inside the pocket. He had kept his cloak on even if it was comfortably warm inside the dining hall.
He then turned to Leuwynn. "I'm almost done here, just need to get some herbs." He spoke in a hushed tone but his voice was filled with a strange air of authority "Then I need to speak to the King immediately."

Taevi glanced over at his caretaker nervously, then shook his pretty head. "The captain is a good man," he said quietly in his usual hushed tone. "But I don't much like the other one." It was the most he'd said to her since his arrival. He shifted anxiously again, as though ready to take flight at the slightest indication that the stranger might harm him.
Leuwynn nodded thoughtfully, distracted by his own thoughts. "He looks a bit better today," he noted aloud - a strange comment, since Taevi hardly looked 'better'. It made one wonder what his state had originally been. "He was barely alive when my scouts and I came across him." Leu's attention shifted to the rangers words. "The king? Hm.. Concerning what?"

Maethoriel yawned and tilted her head upward letting smoke flow from her nostrils and her mouth. In this attitude one was reminded of a dragon her sly, and nearly malevolent look fixed on the ceiling letting her mind wander to her many machinations. She let the words about her filter through the barrier of reality and thought and something struck her as funny. So funny that it earned her trademark bark of a laugh.
"There is no such thing as a good man," she said.
Grair sighed and nudged her with his elbow. He was well acquainted with this argument. "Don' even start that, lassie."
"It is expressing an opinion, Grair. I am not aiming for a fight," she responded while her head lolled to the side so she could catch his eye.
"Well that would be a first," he responded.
"So cruel," she joked with a smile while the dwarf merely let out a huff of annoyance.

"He saved my life," Taevi put in quietly, despite the fact that most of him agreed with her.

"I remember when the captain brought you to me and the other healers," Valya said to Taevi. "I was glad he brought you to us. You were just about half-dead." She was pleased that Taevi had started talking to her; she wanted her patients to be able to trust her. It made looking after them much easier.
She gave a small laugh at Grair and Maethoriel's exchange; they made a quaint pair. Though they snapped at each other, they seemed like very good friends.

"About matters which, if they're connected, will explain a whole lot" the man replied leaving the Captain figuring what the response might mean. The ranger owed his reservedness from not being around people alot; he was not talkative. He did not share his wisdom with many.
Dûrion tucked his pipe back in his cloak and got up. Only one with an accurate sight could notice a slight limp as he walked over to the Captain.
"Will you accompany me?" The words of Leuwynn had made Dûrion connect several things. It slowly dawned where he had seen the boy before. He would get the chance to talk to him.. but not now..

Leuwynn nodded sharply and rose. "I aught to be informed of such important matters. Yes, I will join you." He pulled his gaze away from the other table, collecting himself.

Maethoriel smiled at the response. "I never said that he was not nice or kind or caring...whatever word you wish to use - he just is not good. Again, there are few or no good people left in the world," she finished removing her pipe so that she could swig her drink. Grair rolled his eyes and decided not to comment.
"How long have you been in here?" Grair asked Taevi.

Taevi pondered this for a moment. Sitting alone in his room, silent as the grave, had made the days and weeks blur into one long stretch of time with no memorable beginning, and that was only the amount of time when he had been conscience. He tried to pull together an time. "A month, maybe?"

Deawen had sat quietly, she was content with letting her mind wander. She listened to the others talk, but mostly was absorbed in her thoughts. She had only seen Taevi once before today, but she was busy at the time and was not caught off guard as she was today. " Valya can we do something out of doors? These stone halls chill me. " Deawen said suddenly snapping out of her thoughts. She seemed startled as a someone walked inot the hall appearing to be looking for someone.
