Ellethwen nodded as Tuarvantian replied to her. She did not reply; she was looking up at the trees, circling above their heads. She could sense something strange in the woods of Mirkwood. Some evil waiting to take advantage. A strange light flashed in her dark eyes as she finally looked at Taurvantian.
"Yes, a good idea," she said gravely. She did not look at him again, but ahead of her. A few dark locks of hair shivered in the breeze, over her cloaked shoulders. She was not adorned with jewels of any kind, nor was she clad in any particularly majestic finery, but there was a strange, pale beauty about her. Her features were so delicate they could be called fragile; but anyone who beheld her got the feeling that there was nothing fragile about this elf maiden.

~~~
Mirima stepped forward towards her two brothers. "Yes, let us find Ada," she said cheerily. "Deawen's wandered off - not unusual for her - and we might bump into her on the way." There was a sunny warmth about Mirima; a smile never left her face, though she knew quite well that something strange was at work in Mirkwood, and her family was concerned about it.
Sylied nodded in agreement with his siblings, glancing back with conceearn towards the woods. he tried to cover it on his face as they walked off.
-------------------------------------------------------
Zekeira walked out of the woods, stopping slightly behidn the large group and a stones throw away from Lalaith.
He glanced around, rightly presuming that the elves already knew about the dark troubles that surrounded the forest.
Deawen wandered through the forest keeping to a well worn path. Her thoughts wandered as she did, she was lonely in her own way. With her brother Legolas practicing as much as he was they no longer had time to play. She was still young and with a mischivious mind. She quickened her pace towards home, she spied her siblings again. She hid in the brush and hid quietly waiting for one of them to get close enough.
Sylied walked along behind his other siblings. He always walked in the back for some reason, as if in a protective manner of those who accompanied him. Protecting others was in his nature, however.
He glanced back outt ot he woods and said a silent prayer that his sister Deawen would stay safe as he walked by a small bush.
Deawen moved out of the brush silently and came up behind her older brother. She crouched alittle then sprang on to his back, and covered his eyes. "guess." she said keeping her hands on his eyes.
Talathion nodded respectfully as the King turned to leave. He was eager himself to learn the contents of the message, but he knew that for now it would have to wait. But as he turned to face the others, his eye caught movement in the dark cluster of trees. For a moment, he wondered if it had just been his imagination, until he found that his sister had also heard something.
"Lasto! (listen!) Nad no ennas... (something's out there...) can you hear it?" Aramel breathed, her hand gripping the hilt of her sword. There was more light footfalls that could only be picked up by those with the keenest of hearing. Some creature was there - but the elf lady could not determine whether it was some innocent thing or one of malicious intent. She took a few cautious steps toward the noise and paused, listening intently. An arrow whizzed past her head and into the distance; her attention was directed upwards to where a dark archer was perched in one of the trees. Aramel stumbled backwards, a breathless gasp escaping her lips, "Goblins!" As if on cue, the creatures began to flood out of the trees, snarling and slashing wildly at the surprised group.
[[Added some action.. can't wait to see how the group does in their first fight ^^]]
Megildurion cursed and dismounted, sending his horse away and cracking an orc's skull with his spear haft. Pivoting, he knocked one back, reversed his grip on his weapon, and drove the spearhead through the orc's throat. Puling the blade out, Megildurion swept the spear in a semi-circle, curring the throat of another. "My father was right! You do need every blade you can get!" He shouted to the others, kicking an orc down and stabbing him. The yrch seemed to be a large raiding party. Megildurion wondered how they had made it past the sentinals as he stabbed onother.
Mirima laughed as Deawen leapt out from the brush and onto Sylied's back. "Deawen, you are a rascal," she said fondly, brushing a few golden strands of hair from her eyes. She turned her head slightly at a sudden sound, her keen Elven hearing alerted. The sound of blades clashing.
Her expression immediately changed. She unshouldered her bow and, as quick as lightning, fitted an arrow into it. "Something's amiss near father's lodgings," she said. She moved swiftly into a run, knowing her siblings would follow.
~~~

As Ellethwen walked along with Taurvantian the sense that something odd was going on was growing stronger. Even the ground she treaded on seemed troubled. She gazed left and right as their path took them ever closer to Thranduil's courts.

All of Gandalf's previous weight dropped from his mind as his focus shifted to protecting those around him. His stance shifted and he automatically steeped in front of those nearest him.

"To me friends," he called out loudly - they would be safer in a group. The wizard cast a glance around him and was mildly surprised to see Maethoriel at his side.

Maethoriel had already caught a punch in the face that split her lip, but by the looks of the knife in her hand the creature had no chance for another hit. The woman's eyes flashed dangerously and her face split into a grin.

She turned to the wizard and gave a silent nod which he returned - a small acknowledgment that they were going to watch for each other.

Sylied grinned and shook his head as Deawen jumped on him. "Always playing games Deawen. I wish I could have you're cheerfull attitude in such times... I can't--" Sylied stopped as the commotion began.

"Get to safety!" he told his sisters as the goblins attacked, knowing full well they were more than likely to ignorehis advice.

He pulled out his sword and ran towards teh nearest goblin.

---------------------------------------------

Zekiera crouched and dipped his head to the ground as the goblins appeared out of the woods. His hands fell, then slowly lifted, though they were as limp limbs, weighted down by a great weight.
Finally he widdened his stance, bending his knees and jerking his hands up. With his hands came tendrils of water.
Zekiera stepped and swung his arms in a elegent patern, almost as if dancing. The tendrils of water followed his will, their edge made sharp as a sword and cutting through the goblins nearby.

He was safe as long as none of the goblins got in close enough to attack him back.

Lalaith watched the King leave and decided it would be the uportune moment to address one of them. She walked up the human, thinking him to be one of the inhabitants of the Mirkwood. But before she could utter a word an Elf at the other side of the man whispered something in some language she couldn't understand. But something was wrong. The elfs glanced around worriedly and whispered until the same Elf cried out: "Goblins!"
Then suddenly goblins swirmed from behind the trees and there was only chaos. Panic overwhelmed Lalaith for a moment and she grabbed her sword quickly from her sadlebag, she stared at it, clueless what to do. She was even unaware that words expressed her thoughts. "I can not.." she called out, but her words were lost in the noises of fighting and battle. "I've never learnt how to fight.."

Deawen slid off her brothers back and stepped away. She drew her curved sword and matching dagger and took on her stance. The first goblin came at her and she felt a cold chill run through her, she had been trained and had a deadly art but she had never killed before. "pretend that it is just a training lesson.." she thought to herself as she brought her sword up and her dagger forward. Bring her dagger forward was merely a distraction as she brought her sword down. THe blade cut deep into the goblin's neck, she felt the blade crack bone and sever tissue. She tugged her sword free and the goblin fell to the ground in a pool of black blood. She stared at it in a mix of horror and fasination. She was brought back to the present when a shrieking goblin rushed her. She would have given anything to be on horseback where she had the advantage.

Ryninial watched her King make his way into the stone Palace of Mirkwood before turning to her companions that she was to look after, her hands folded in front of her as she parted her lips to speak, though before she could get a word out the dark haired elf maiden shouted that there was danger afoot. No sooner had she spoken did the shadows begin to move and the orcs came into focus. Ryninial stood there stunned, orcs had not been this close to the palace in ages.

She was a healer, not a fighter and had no form of protection against the horde of yrch.
----------------

Legolas adjusted his quiver on his back and held the bow loosely in his hand as he walked with his siblings towards the palace to find their father. He walked in the front of the group while his older brother walked in the back, their sisters between them.

It was something that just happened naturally, the brothers flanking their sisters almost in a protective way, so that they were safe from both the front and the back attacks that could come, although there had been no real danger in a while, not anything that Legolas remembered.

He too was lost in his thoughts and that was not something he should be doing, but he couldn't help it. With all the training he had to do he couldn't help but remember the correct posture to take when holding the bow, how to arch up a blade the most effectively to kill an enemy.

What brought him out of his thoughts and to the present was his older brothers yell to get them to safety. His elven senses kicked in and his whole body tensed, blue eyes narrowing as he looked quickly side to side before seeing a band of orcs coming towards them.

Without a second thought he brought his bow up and notched it quickly, releasing an arrow and watching as it flew past the first orc and hit another... he had been aiming for the first and although he hit one he knew his aim was off and that made him nervous, which also made him panic, hands shaking as he tried to shoot again, this time hitting the first orc in the stomach.

Legolas could not panic now, not when his family was in danger.

Sylied dodged and sliced, cutting oppen the stomach of his goblin opponent. Guts and blood poured out ont eh ground, covering Sylied's left shoe.
He jerked his sword to the right, parying a blow, then bvlocking another up high. He slid the goblin's blade off his own and spun around behind it, dodging another attack while stabbing backwards. His blade pertruded from the other side of the nearest goblin as he yanked to free it from it's victim.

------------------------------------------------------

Zekiera kept the goblins at bay, at first, but soon they began closing in on him. H wasn't much of a fighter, unfortunately, but in dodging and evading his skills were matched by but a few.
Zekiera wove his way between burnished steel and blood stained tips, skillfully dancing his way out of trouble. A quick strike took down a pre-ocupied goblin. He noticed Lalaith as she seemed to strugle even to speak. A tendril of water whipped out from his hand to slash the goblin runnign at her. Immediately he was forced to bring up his metal wrist guards to block a goblin sword.

Maethoriel relished the feel of blood pouring out of another victim's veins and soaking her person. She lived for war and battle, she was a product of war and the feel of her hammering heart and quick breath was a balm for all her aches in the world. Here she answered to no one - not that she listened to many otherwise. On the field of battle her bitterness and cruelty could be easily masked and even praised. It was so much easier - living in the moment.

Gandalf was wearying just like the rest of the group. The orcs however seemed to be lesser in number than before. This proved to be a good incentive, if they could cut down more then the rest would run off - orcs were not known for bravery or loyalty to a cause.
