((Oh me, pick me!)) Refugees flooded into the already overflowing Helm's Deep, baskets of food and clothing lined the broad steps leading up from its entrance, and mothers with babies rocked them soothingly, eyes sharp and suspicious. Conversation was subdued and all the ragged children running about (very few) were hollow-eyed and fatigued. Yet another group of now-homeless Rohanians entered the broad gates. There were perhaps three or four families, and a young man walking with a young woman, almost a girl still, who was herself gaunt and weary. Their facial similarity indicated the fact that they were siblings, as did the anxious way he leaned down to speak to her. She moved slowly, walking with a battered crutch, and did not raise her eyes to his. The group separated as they entered and she was left alone, making her solitary way slowly up the steps, eyes fixed on the stone beneath her feet. |

Another young man and woman walked into the fortress, the woman glancing around anxiously. The man stepped in front of her and took her hand firmly, guiding her through the crowd. "Thire, where do we go?" the woman asked. "I don't know yet." he answered, then turned around and smiled briefly at the girl. "We'll find out, don't worry, Adwine." |

Yet another young man and woman moved carefully through the throng of people, the former having to lead the latter, whose eyes were dimly glazed over, yet partially hidden by the curtain of reddish hair falling in her face. "But Léoflic, what if they didn't make it?" she murmured in an anxious tone, sightless gaze roaming across the thronging people nearby. "Don't worry, Dìore..I'm sure they made it safely." the young man, Léohtìr, replied in a soothing tone, as he himself searched the crowd for any signs of their mother or younger siblings. |

A young girl in blue slipped through the multitudes, searching for someone, anyone she knew. She blinked as she saw a young man with black hair and green eyes run by. "PETTEN!" she yelled after him. He turned around, "Wh- Ray?" Ray smiled, "I almost thought you didn't remember me." "Well, you never come see me anymore, so I wasn't expecting you to be grown up." said Petten with a slightly forced laugh. Petten had been like Ray's older brother ever since Ray could remember. Somehow, as Ray had grown older, she had grown apart from him. Under the circumstances, neither cared and were simply happy to see familiar faces. |

Naefrewyn looked around with wide and frightened light green eyes. She couldn't find anyone that she knew. Her older brother should've been there, but as she scanned the crowd of refugees pouring into Helm's Deep she couldn't see him. If others had looked at her from behind, they might of thought her a child, for she was small of stature. Her long light red hair was disheveled and wind blown from her long and tiring journey. Her dark green dress was caked at the bottom with mud. She worked to quell her nervousness as she scanned the crowd, wondering what to do and where to go. There was still no sign of her brother. She bit her lip in worry as she wondered if she was to face this whole ordeal alone. A tall man stood, surveying the chaos of Helm's Deep. His name was Heorl He had refugeed with his sister, her being his only family, and now he could not find her anywhere. His tousled brown curls fell down across his forehead, and partly covered one of his dark brown eyes. He wasn't sure what he should do. Should he wait here and see if she came to him? Or should he search the fortess for her? He didn't want to just stand around waiting for something to happen, so he decided to go searching for her. He sighed and began to make his way up the steps alone. |

"Morgen, go with the women," the young man who had just recently arrived was saying to his sister in an undertone. "I must speak to Theoden." For the first time she turned her face up to look at him. It was pale and tear-stained, her eyes overtly large and sorrowful. "But I want to go with you - Aeldor, they don't want me, they think I'm useless and you know it." He pressed her hand and moved off, leaving her to fumble her own way up the stone steps with her crutch, soon falling behind the group they'd come with. |

Ray nervously talked with Petten until he abruptly left her alone, claiming he needed to see to something. A woman with a crutch caught her eye. "Did they leave you as well?" |

Eventually, after several moments' long searching, Léoflic and Dìore finally found their mother and siblings, and after a short, almost bittersweet reunion, Léoflic left them on pretense of having something to do. Dìore, without her normal guide, found herself separated from her family within just a matter of moments, and she then pressed herself against the nearest wall, wincing at even the most normal sounds. The increase in sound level didn't help at all, leaving her without both sight and hearing, effectively...and of course, made her look quite piteous, sightless gaze roaming here and there, while she covered her ears every so often, wincing. |

( sorry...I'm late!!!!!) A tall man with a deep tan complexion and shaggy flaxen hair rode into the gates of Helm's Deep. His steed was pure black with a broad blaze and its eyes were wide in annoyance. The man simply pressed his legs gently and the horse's flank to keep him moving. " Arvel wait!" a voice came from behind. Soon a woman trotted into the gates and slowed to a walk on a thickly set perlino stallion. " Yo know I'm supposed to stay with you! You parents told me to try to since we are both on horses, but no you have to run ahead!" Arvel tucked his head onto his breast and mumbled he rode on. The woman stayed behind him and swept her curly blond hair off her dark green dress. |

Naefrewyn searched frantically for her brother for a while. She could find him no where. Despite her best efforts to keep them at bay, tears sprung to her eyes and began to trickle down her cheeks. She feared the worst about her brother, and she knew in her heart that she would probably never see him again. She took a shaking breath and tried to calm herself. She knew that it was no time to lose control of herself. She lifted her chin, stubbornly defying everything that tried to bring her down. Now a bit more composed, she looked around wondering where to go. As her eyes scanned the crowd of people, she saw a young woman who looked to be somewhere around her age. The woman winced and put her hands over her ears. She appeared to be looking around frantically. Naefrewyn began moving towards her. Perhaps, helping someone would help take her mind of the probable death of her brother. At the least it would be some very welcomed company. "Excuse me," she said to the woman when she reached her, "Are you alone? Do you need help?" |

Dìore, undoubtedly startled quite soundly, jumped at the sound of the woman's voice, then, steadying herself, 'looked' in the direction of the voice. "Oh, yes..I'm alone now, I think my family lost me in the crowd." she murmured in response to the first inquiry, then, pushing her hair back from her face, smiled in a weary sort of way, the smile never reaching her eyes. "And yes..help would be appreciated. I'm totally blind, and have no idea where to go." |

Then Naefrewyn understood why the woman had been 'looking around' frantically. She looked around and decided it would be best to follow the mainstream of people, since she wasn't really sure at all where she was supposed to be going. She took the woman's hand and placed it on her arm so that she would be able to follow her. "Here, maybe I can help you find your family again," she said as she began walking, "I'm Naefrewyn by the way." As Heorl was making his way up the steps, he noticed a young woman walking with a crutch by herself. Her face was downcast, but even so he could see that her eyes were sorrowful. He wondered if she too had lost someone dear to her in all the bustle. |

Dìore smiled gratefully in the woman's direction(or so she hoped it was in her direction..), and followed along, thankful to have found someone willing to help one such as she. "Thank you.." she murmured, then heard the introduction and paused a moment. "Dìore." she finally said, while absently trying to smooth the wrinkles from her travelstained dress, finding it a welcome distraction from the enheightened sounds that were assaulting her sensitive ears. |

Thire continued to push his way through the crowd, Adwine following. From bits of conversation he had picked up, Thire had guessed that most of the people were heading deeper inside the fortress. |

Morgen turned, eyes piercing Ray with a gaze much like a drawn sword before relaxing. "No," she said shortly, leaning against the solid wall to catch her breath. "No, it has not yet come to that." Her voice was bitter, filled with the sorrow of years alone. |
