The light is simply a method to ensure when the Gollum-like states start and stop. Basically, so we don't have Frodo being evil and Aragorn being good at one time. All Middle-Earth characters change back and forth at the same time.

Yes, it is random, mostly. The only thing that changes is how frequent it is. At first, it will be slow, and it will become more frequent as the ring gets closer to Mordor.

The Middle Earth characters that are being played are the nine Fellowship members. All other characters are free reign for everyone. Unless someone wants to join, and that character is going to have a major part. Like, when we get to Rohan, if someone wants to be Eowyn or Theoden.
But, that doesn't really have to be worried about until later.

The nine characters are just people from our present-day world that have some ability, knowledge, talent, etc. that would help accomplish the task of destroying the Ring.

This is just like the LotR trilogy, except with a new twist. Sauron has noticed that the ring is near, and, ever since that, the whole Middle-Earth world is converting between good and evil. Everytime a flash goes throughout the sky, the people throughout Middle-Earth change side. The good side turns bad, and the bad side turns good. Some people from the real world has been summoned to Middle-Earth in order to aid in destroying the ring. For, once the ring is destroyed, this chaos will end. Were summoned: There is a "reason" why they were called to help. FELLOWSHIP: Frodo- Turwaithiel Swann Sam- Eruraina Merry- Smeagollum Pippin- Eruraina Aragorn- Turwaithiel Swann Boromir- Eruraina Gandalf- Smeagollum Legolas- Haldir o Lórien Gimli- Jack the Ripper All other characters can be played by everyone. SUMMONED PEOPLE (and who they watch over, mainly):* -Abagail Sims (Smeagollum) :: Frodo & Sam -Caitlin Turner (Elenriel Greenleaf) :: Legolas -Louisa Lontrey (Eruraina) :: Merry & Pippin -Scott Seastorm (Turwaithiel Swann) :: Boromir & Gimli -Aaron Cushman (Eruraina) :: Gandalf -Mark Burlman (Eruraina) :: Aragorn REPLACEABLES (If you want to join, you can take over these characters): Aragorn Sam Mark Burlman Gandalf To better explain the pairing up. There isn't any romance, sorry guys. But, the pairing up is just who the certain character keeps most of their attention towards. Like, each summoned person has to make sure all of the characters are protected, but they consentrate on one in particular. (Like that basketball play.) Also, I ask that if you are going to be a Fellowship Member and an OC, please do not have your OC watch the Fellowship member you are playing, just so it is more like a RP. The RP will start right after the Council of Elrond. -~-~-~-~-~- BIOGRAPHIES: Name: Abagail Sims Nickname: Abby Age: 22 Appearance: Light brown hair, brown eyes. Olive tone skin. Not curly curly hair, but close. Why Chosen: Handling of Medival Weapons(Swords, Knives, Bow and Arrow [not the best at that]) and some horseback riding Extra: Abagail was born into hollywood, but being an actress wasn't good enough for her. She decided to take the way of the stunt-actress so that she would be able to work with the explosives, knives, swords, etc. Thus, with this skill, she was summoned. ~-~-~ Name: Caitlin Turner Nickname: Cate/Cat Age: 21 Hair: Long, black, slightly wavy Eyes: A Stunning blue Appearance: Tall and attractive with a slender built. She also has the well-toned and lithe body of a martial artist Personality: Kind but strong-willed, some see as downright stubborn. She has a strong sense of duty and will do anything to protect those she cares for Why Chosen: She is a skilled martial artist, and competed in tournaments at a young age. She is also adept in stealth movements, making her an excellent spy. Caitlin is also skilled at archery and knows how to use the sword, though she prefers the sai. Extra: Caitlin is no stranger to the harsh realities of the world. When her parents were killed in an accident, she and her younger sister moved in with her ailing grandmother, where she was left in charge of the younger girl and tend to the elderly woman. Moreover, she has been involved in brawls more than once defending her sister from bullies. ~-~-~ Name: Louisa Lontrey Nickname: Louy Age: 16 Why chosen: she is an exelent horse woman. She was raised on a horse farm, and has trained many horses in her time. Around where she's from they call her the "horse whisperer". Also she can do some archery from going hunting, and is a fan of Lord of the Rings. Looks like: long orange-gold hair(redhead) that's almost to her waste. Eyes change color varying from gray, green, hazel, and dark blue. she's tall and thin, with "elven" features, or fair, sharp features. ~-~-~ Name: Scott Seastorm Nickname: Snake Age: 17 Hair: shaggy blond hair Eyes: A nice blue Appearance: He is tall and very, very well built. He is tan from working outside and you can tell he works out. Personality: He is strong-willed and strong-hearted and doesn't care of what people think of him and who he hangs out with or who he likes and he loves to joke around but he is loyal to his friends and girlfriends and people like that. Why Chosen: He was chosen because of his wit and maybe even because of his charm, but also because of his endurance and the knowledge of knowing how to use both blade and bow, but he likes to use pistols. Extra: Scott is strong because he plays soccer for his highschool and he hopes to play in college. That is why he lifts weights and he has very good endurance in running, but he is also quick, both in speed and in his head. He is single and he doesn't mind that, even though he is very, very attractive. He loves to be around his friends and to joke around, even in a bad situation. ~-~-~ Name: Aaron Cushman Age: 26 Gender: male Looks like: blue eyes, shaggy blonde hair, slightly muscular, fit, tall. Reason chosen: He's a professor at a collage, he teaches about Tolkien's Middle-Earth. He is well learned about the cultures, languages, everything. He was chosen for his knowlage of Middle-Earth. His father was a good friend of Tolkien himself. Other: He works as a professor at one of the universities of Tennessee. He's single, goes to the gym twice a week, loves to read and study maps. Not that much athletic accept for the occasional walk, and going to the gym. He was born in raised in a small town in tennessee(and he's mighty good at the fiddle) ~-~-~ Name: Mark Burlman Gender: male Age: 21 Looks like: Murtagh from Eragon sorta! Only with present-day cloths! Reason chosen: He can track and hunt. He grew up hunting with his father. But when he was 18 was sent off to be in the military. So he can fight as well as track, skin a deer, and cook meat over a fire. Other: He's a sargent in the military, and is stationed in Iraq when the rpg starts...

Like, in basketball, people would be assigned to watch a certain person for defense. Pairing is particularly being done because, later on, the characters will split a lot. This way, we won't all go in one direction. I, personally, perfer that your OC will watch over a Fellowship character that you aren't playing. This way, it is a complete surprise to the OC, not something your mind has already thought on.
