What would happen if a band of 21st century Ringers suddenly found themselves whisked away from their hum-drum lives into the exciting world of Middle-Earth? There’s only one way to find out, and it’s all in the very unpredictable “Dropped into Middle-Earth RPG!"
Take your name. Your A-U name. Now, think of a very typical day in your life. Got it? What are you doing on that very typical day? Write it down. Now, figure out some weird, wacky, or wonderful way in which you suddenly (or not so suddenly) find yourself falling, flying, gliding, sliding or just appearing somewhere in middle earth. Maybe you type the wrong web address, maybe you get on the wrong train, perhaps Ty comes knocking on your door and when you get in the limo, you find yourself not in Disney Land but in Minas Tirith or outside Bag End. Write about where you are so that we can recognize it. Then start to make your way to Rivendell. You may meet other LotR characters along the way. No romances, though, please, although you may cry for you or drool over them if you must. Or act as prim and proper as you chose. Maybe you found yourself in Dale, and while on your way to Rivendell you meet Legolas. So although you really are a human, you tell him you're an elf. Maybe you meet Faramir and try to persuade him that Eowyn really is in love with Aragorn and so he decides to escort you to Rivendell himself. Or perhaps Pippin and you make your journey to Rivendell by visiting all the local pubs from the Green Dragon to Bree. You decide. [b[s]]We'll all meet up there in Rivendell. Take notice, everyone: When you get yourself to Rivendell - STOP. Do not post. Do not collect $200.[/b][/s]You will then recieve further information as to your Mission. Quest. Thing. UPDATE: We are in Rivendell and at Council. The RPG is open for newcomers. RULES: Use YOUR A-U name No single-sentence posts. Try for a paragraph or longer. Please keep your posts at a G or PG level. We're keeping in one thread here.

Riniel's eyes stared intently at the computer screen. Clicking from here to there, and typing every once in a while, a contented smile formed on her face. Ah, to spend a rainy summer day on your computer at the Arwen-Undomiel.com forum. She had just finished commenting in the summer surprise section as something in the 'Your Life' section caught her eye. '[Poll] Would You Venture Into Middle-Earth If YOU Had The Chance?' The title read. Riniel clicked on it almost immediently, noticing the poll was created by a newly joined member named Ratavulli. She had just welcomed him a couple minutes ago. Wow, he had figured out how to make a poll quickly.
The poll held only two simple answers: Yes and No. Riniel enthusiastically clicked on Yes. Then, a strange message popped up - one she had never seen before. 'Thank you for voting. Click here to continue.' Curious, Riniel clicked on the link. That was all she remembered.
Oof. Riniel rubbed the back of her head as she sat up, dazed. Where was she? Had she just...fallen from the sky? She tried to stand up, her bare feet tickled by the long grass. Long...grass? Still wearing her jeans and a t-shirt, Riniel looked around, trying to find where she was. Now she saw she was inside a tent of some sort. A party tent? Now listening to the sounds outside, she could tell it was some kind of celebration. Creeping slowly toward the tent’s door, Riniel nervously tilted her head outside. Then she gasped. Around her, tons of hobbits were dancing and laughing. Perhaps most unsettling was the large banner above her head, draped in between two large trees; Happy Birthday Bilbo Baggins! Riniel sat down, stunned. Lucky for her, most people were so engrossed with the party that they didn’t notice her. Then, standing a few feet away, something caught Riniel’s eye. Well, someone, to be more precise. There, wearing modern-day clothes and looking very scared, was an average-sized girl. Was she clinging to…a stuffed bunny?
Riniel noticed that the other girl had started walking over to her. She nervously waved her hand. "Um...hi?" Riniel wonddered if the girl was as confused as she, and how she had landed in Hobbiton.
Riniel stuck out her hand and shook the other girl's, still in quite a bit of shock. "Pandora...you say?" Riniel thought suddenly about A-U. "I'm Riniel...Riniel Aranel. You wouldn't happen to be a member of the Arwen Undomiel forum, would you?"
Feeling a bit more at ease, Riniel began to laugh as well. "It's good to see someone else! But...how did you get here? Did you take Ratavulli's quiz too?"
"Gwen!" Riniel Aranel ran up to greet the fellow A-U member. The sight of a friendly face...or rather, a friendly name...had helped ease her tension. "You're here, too? What's going on?" Riniel wondered if she was the only one who took Ratavulli's poll. But if everyone has been pulled into Middle-Earth by different means, why were we all here? You don't even know if EVERYONE's here, Riniel reminded herself. Still. Three of them had ended up in hobbiton at exactly the same time...
"Well, if you really want to follow the books..." Riniel trailed off as she pointed to Bilbo anf Frodo, standing just a little ways off.

Pandora sat in down in row 16C, she had requested a window seat for she loved watching the view from thousands of feet above land. Her parents had surprised her with a week long vacation to Europe for her end of the year gift.
She was sipping on her diet coke and eating the plane's salty peanuts and pretzels when the seat belt sign blinked on and the Pilot's voice echoed through the cabins.
"Due to the storm we will be expecting some turbulance. The seat belt sign had been turned on for your safety and we would ask you to remain seated until we are safely through the storm." Pandora shifted in her seat, she was all for thunderstorms but not happy to be entering into one. She quickly buckled the belt and closed the window as she clutched her magazine and stuffed animal bunny, Legolas.
The plane seemed motionless until a loud crash could be heard and the plane began to jolt. Pandora shut her eyes tightly repeating, "I will be ok..." over and over as the plane shook visciously side to side. The crazy thing was not a single noise could be heard, the children were no longer crying, parents were no longer offering comfort, nothing.
As soon as it had started the jolting had ended. Pandora slowly opened her eyes in fear of what could of caused the sudeen silence, what she saw made her blue eyes widen and her jaw drop. She was no longer surrounded by strangers, she was no longer sitting down, she was no longer in a plane. No, she was standing in a field of lush grass, rolling hills, and small people walking around in old-fashioned dresses smoking and having a good-time. Pandora, still clutching her bunny had appeared in Hobbiton...
Pandora chewed at her bottom lip, how in the world did she land in the middle of Hobbiton and more precisly Middle-Earth. Though it had always been a dream of hers to visit the lands of Aman and travel the same route of the fellowship, she had no idea that she would actually end up smack dab in the middle of the Third-Age of Arda.
She was so confused that she began to laugh, holding her bunny to her chest. What would her parent think. She reached for her phone that was in her purse, but there was no purse, which meant no phone. Pandora smacked her forehead, she had left in purse in the seat compartment. Oh well, what better way to find some answers then to talk to someone.
She brushed her knee length dress, that poofed slightly at the waist where a white sash was tied. Pandora began walking towards a.. a hobbit, she laughed at the thought, before noticing someone who was also dressed in modern day clothes. With a relieved sigh she made her way over to the girl.

Pandora pratically darted over to the girl when she noticed some of the hobbits walking towards her. She was not ready to accept that she was actually in Middle-Earth.
"Hi, I see I am not the only one transported here.... names Pandora." She held out her hand, bunny in the other as she introduced herself.
"I wonder why and how this happened. What were you doing before you came here?"
Pandora shook the girls hand and began to laugh.
"Yes in fact I am Riniel, names Pandora there as well. Wow I cannot believe what has happened to us. I wonder if others are here?" She looked around, seeing no one else and shrugged her shoulders. Now that they were in Aman what were they going to do?
"No I was in an airplane when we went through a storm and then suddenly I was alone and here..." she laughed and let her blue eyes take in the sight before her.
Pandora was looking around for a familiar face when she saw a flash of light to her right. She shielded her eyes for a moment before a figure stepped out lookin just as confused as she felt.
The girl looked vaguely familiar in a pastel blue skirt and flowerly blouse. Her eyebrows came together in thought for a few moments before a slow smile spread across her face.
"Gwenneth!" She shouted loud enough for the girl to hear her
"Hey Gwenneth, judging by the look on your face you do not recognize me." Pandora smiled warmly as she held out her hand once more.
"I am Pandora and this is Riniel Aranel, we are from Arwen Undomiel forums." She was now suspecting that this was not all a coincidence. Something had caused the members of A-U to come together in Middle-Earth. She only hoped she would figure out why soon.
Pandora smiled and hugged Gwenneth tightly, relief fleeing her body and they looked at each other.
"I have no clue why we are here, but right now I am so happy to be standing in Hobbiton." She laughed then sighed wishing she knew why they were here
"I am sure the hobbits will not mind if we take some food." Pandora grinned as she thought about how each of them had arrived here. Obviiously some outside nature was at work and she was going to figure it out before they returned home, if they ever got home.
"I think we should follow the books, make our way to Rivendell and then figure out what to do from there."
"Frodo, Bilbo" Pandora shouted waving her hands to draw attention to her. She laughed when the two small hobbits looked their way with slight confusion. Probably the way they were dressed because Frodo and Bilbo were not foreign to the big folk.
She then turned to Gwenneth with a laugh
"Yep it is them... so that means it is before the destruction of the ring..."

Eruraina stood in a barn, tacking up a rental horse for a trail ride. She took lessons at this stable which was surrounded by forestry. She made sure to tighten the girth one last time, walked into the tack room to get her bag with a snack, blacket, horsetreats, and first aid kit inside. She grabbed the reines and swung into the western saddle. She heeled the paint horse in the side to make her walk out of the barn, and out to the yard, wich eventually led to a trail that wound through the woods.
After several minutes of riding through this trail, the forest became more mossy, and denser. Eruraina looked down at the strange kinds of new plants. "weird, I've never seen a forest like this before..." the forest looked like Fangorn forest. She trotted on a little further, and eventually lost the trail. She bit her lip as she weaved through the trees, trying to turn around.
The hug almost made Eruraina fall off her horse. She smiled, "u... I already told you who I am, and I somehow got here by accident too... Elegost? From AU forum?"
Eruraina looked around, wide eyed. She turned around in the saddle. That was definently Fangorn, was all that went through her mind. She slowly turned back down in the saddle, than looked at her blue, jeans, and baggy shirt. "I'm going to stick out like a sore thumb." she murmered to herself. She made the horse she rode go at a canter tward Edoras, but stopped short... She didn't have anything to get proper clothing with. But who would take her in and help her?
Eruraina sat on the paint, a mile from the city, even though she knew people from the top could see her. She looked around Edoras in every direction, and just happened to look in the direction of two people, one seemed to be on a horse, both just looked like shadows from this far away. Eruraina jumped off the saddle, and brought the reins over the head, and held them in her hand...
Erura watched two go in, one looked like Borimir. She got back on the horse, which was named Chyanne. They went to a canter through the gates, and saw someone that looked of her time, sticking out like a sore thumb like her. She slowed Chyanne down to a walk, and walked up to the strainger.
"hello?! I'm Eruraina Nova. By seeing you, I say we're both out of place 'er." She said...
Eruraina eventually turned around, but couldn't find the trail. She turned the horse back around, and went forward. Horse and rider burst through the trees, were the forest sudenly stopped to a field of prairy like land(I am sure thats how Tolkien described it). Off in the distance she saw a town... "Edoras..."
The hug almost made Eruraina fall off her horse. She smiled, "u... I already told you who I am, and I somehow got here by accident too... Elegost? From AU forum?"

Gwenneth sighed as she leaned back against the wall of the elevator. After a terribly long wait in the waiting room of the dentist, she had finally been seen. Gwenneth had always hated the dentist. What isn't uncomfortable when you have a man poking about the tender areas of your mouth with cold tools and drills?
Now she was on her way back down to the parking lot where she would meet her mom. The elevator ride was taking longer than expected.
"Shouldn't I be there already?" Gwenneth wondered. Shifting her weight, she looked around the elevator. It was definitely moving, but it felt as though speed was being gained. Faster and faster it seemed to go down, down. Now fear gripped her, and she was reaching for the alarm.
But all in a moment, without any warning, it halted. Gwenneth found herself up against the wall once again, but soon she regained her balance. Breathing heavily, she waited. As if she had reached the parking level, the doors casually opened. But what she saw was no lot of any kind.
Gwenneth's mouth hung slightly open in astonishment as she surveyed what lay beyond the doors.
"This...this place!" Gwenneth was still standing dumbly in the elevator, staring outside. For what she saw were houses, many houses, perched through out green hills. "Don't tell me..." but there was no question about it. The houses were composed of a round door with a nob in the center. This isn't possible she said to herself.
"Something has gone terribly wrong." And for a moment Gwenneth felt sick.
It was when the elevator doors began to close that she snapped back to attention and stopped them. "A small look around won't do anything," Gwenneth said aloud, grabbing her purse on the floor, and exiting the small room.
She guess that maybe it would all disappear when she stepped out, but her foot safely landed on the grass. But when she turned to see the security of the elevator's existence, it was gone. There was no elevator anywhere in sight. Gwenneth's stomach dropped as if she were on a rollercoaster. W-what am I supposed to do? she asked herself. This can't be happening, and yet...it must be real. And deep down, Gwenneth was wishing and hoping it was real.
"If mom and dad had gotten me a cell phone I would be able to call them..." she said aloud. "Well, if this really is [Gwenneth could not bring herself to say it]... then I don't have much of a reason to be afraid. I'll just...find someone, and ask where I am, or if they know how I can get back."
With that, Gwenneth set off to the nearest circular shaped home. Meanwhile she felt quite at peace for being lost in a completely uknown place. She had never been in such lovely weather: the sun was warmly shining on her head, but there was a breeze, so there was no heat or humidity in the air.
"I just wish I had worn better shoes," Gwenneth said, staring down at her ber black flip flops. She was also wearing a pastel blue colored skirt, a V-neck pink shirt with white, flower paterns along the neckline, and her hair was up in a pony-tail.
"No problem, just find someone friendly looking as quickly as possible, and you'll be fine."
Gwenneth nearly fell over at the double take she made when hearing her name.
Fear gripped her as her eyes darted this way and that, searching for the voice's owner. Then she found it -- to the left, she saw two figures who also seemed to stand out, and wore clothes the same as her. For a moment, she wondered if it was safe to go to them. Though if they looked different as well...
Perhaps I'm not the only one! Picking up her pace, Gwenneth made her way to them.
"Um, hello," she said, when she was close enough. They sure didn't look harmful.
Gwenneth's eyes turned as wide as walnuts.
"Pan....Pandora? But, it has to be you!" She somehow felt that she had been with these two before. "And RA!" Gwenneth embraced her, and then Pandora. "It's so good to see you! I thought I was all alone," relief washed over her face, and she smiled.
"But what are you...what are we doing here?" She asked, hoping the other two would know something.
"Oh, I was hoping you two would know," Gwenneth bit her lip. "Well...what should we do? I got here through an elevator, but it...disappeared as soon as I stepped out of it. Anyway, you probably don't know what I'm talking about."
Gwenneth's words were becoming all mudled in her mind.
"I am really hungry," she laid a hand on her belly. Gesturing to her purse she added, "though I doubt our money is good anymore."
"But we don't even know what year this," said Gwen raising an eyebrow. "The Council of Elrond could have existed decades ago...or may be decades to come."
Following RA's hand, Gwenneth saw two hobbits, one younger looking, while the other looked slightly older and age. Both were dressed well. She looked back at RA. "...And you think they're...?"
"I suppose you're right," Gwenneth smiled for the second time since she had stepped through the elevator. "Should we go to them?" She asked the others.

(ooooo i'l join) (eerr just so people know i', a Tolkien fan and live in Oxford and hang out where he used to hang out)
Anduril was sitting in the Eagle and Child, drinking a hot chocolate. She slowly turned the pages of her book (guess what it is) when she heard a soft noise, not unlike that of a chime, she looked around, no one esle was looking whay thy wondered a CHIME was striking in the eagle and Child. She looked round the room carefully, and. as her eyes passed over a section of wall there came the sound again. She stood up and strode carefully over to the wall, and put her hand up to the wood carvings of flowers and other strange shapes. No-one seemed to have noticed her odd behavior, and she pushed lightly against the panal
Anduril fell though the panal and quickly stood up, brushing herself down as she did so....wait a second, brushing herself down? You didn't get dirt and...grass? in the pub. She looked round slowly she was standing in a tent surrounded by very small people.....with hairy feet....hobbits. Hobbits? And HOW did she get here? she swiftly looked at her self, she was wareing everything she had been before http://www.polo.com/product/index.jsp?p ... age=family, but she was still whereing her knife, in its red leather sheath 9i'm sixteen and leagelly allowed to whereit so i do) she looked around curiousely, she didn't look like anyone here, then she cought sight of two, well, 2normal2 peole and made her way over to them

(*giggle fit* This sounds fun!!)
Idril sighed and readjusted the cowboy hat on her head, the scorching midday sun causing sweat to stream down her well tanned skin. She wore a white sleevless shirt which buttoned up and tied at waist length, with her usual boot cut bluejeans, a fair sized buck knife strapped at her belt. The 18 year old grinned slightly and leaned over to pat the neck of her arabian bay mare, glancing over as one of the larger calves from the herd strayed. "Let's go catch that stray, Princess, before we start working the cattle through the woods..."
With a firm nudge of her boots, Idril tossed her chesnut hair from her face and urged the mare forward at a swift speed, skillfully angling the charge so that the calf would spook into the herd again instead of away. But as they neared the woods, a loud and chilling screech was heard, the source unknown, and the sturdy mare spooked, releasing a shrill whinny. Loosing the reins, the girl leaned forward and groped for them, fearing the mare would tangle her hooves in the split straps. Without warning, Princess turned sideways all of the sudden to avoid a tree, and the ground gave way, slippery from a recent rain, causing both horse and rider to come crashing down on the ground.
All went black, until the young woman felt a soft muzzle nosing at her face, and she came to, her eyes opening to see her mare standing and in seeming good health, but the strangest thing was that it seemed dark, or at least gloomy, and what was that awful noise? Gurgling? Muttering? Hissing? Sniffing? It seemed annoying... Her head hurt... where was she? Had Princess dragged her far from her home property? If it was Mr. Rithers land, he'd kill her for trespassing if he found her....
Slowly she rolled from her back to her hands and knees, groaning slightly as she pulled herself towards a large fallen log, using it for support as she went to stand, but what scene greeted her on the other side was not quite a pleasant sight and tied a knot in her stomach. There was a dark horse, and standing beside it was what seemed to be a tall man dressed in black rags. It hadn't been the horse making the noise, but the rider, as it seemed to be sniffing around in the most disgusting fasion.
For a moment Idril's mind had no function, as her eyes went wide. She'd seen this before... But what the heck was it doing here?! Of course it could be Mr. Rithers trying to scare her off. "Nice try, Mr. Rithers, but I have a decent explanation for trespassing!" She spoke aloud, standing up as she dusted herself off, resettling her hat and pulling her shirt down. Princess back up slightly, seeming unconfortable, whinnying shrilly as "Mr. Rithers" stepped forward with a hiss. "Don't dare try to scare my horse! She's been through enough today, thank you very much..."
Suddenly the tall figure let out a screech and Idril's jaw dropped, a sudden chill running up and down her spine as her knees quaked. "Wha... Oh my friggin gosh!!" Without further hesitation, she whirled around and lept onto her mare, the horse needing no encouragement to take off at full speed.
Glancing back, the 18 year old noticed the familar thing following. Suddenly she started repeating to herself "What would Frodo do, What would Frodo do... Heck he'd put on the ring! Nooooo, that's not gonna work..." With hardly any breath to spare, she gasped and crouched low to avoid a branch, keeping her seat rather well. Soon she had lost her hat "Well not like I'd need it... I'd look most definately wierd with it... " Suddenly the normally calm mare reared, flailing her hooves at a dark rider which appeared in front of them. Idril was unseated, but didn't second think her actions as she rolled and began to run, dodging trees, knowing her mare would eventually follow, but she had no intentions of being cornered by... those things.
This was not exactly her idea of fun... she would have been more pleased with heading home and pulling out her laptop to log onto A-U forum rather than being chased by wraiths. This was... drastic to say the least!

Dark shook her head, boredly she scrolled over her posts that she had made. The computer was slow today, too slow. The rest of the forum kept popping up as "Server Unavailable". The only thing that worked was looking over her old posts. She shifted in pain, her legs were pins and needles from sitting at the computer to long. her wrist hurt. Her short red and black hair was sweaty for some reason.
Once she had arrived at the end of her posts she noticed one last one. The avatar had a small map of Middle Earth on it and the banner was a dark red. Small words were written on it. She waved her mouse over it, it lit up showing it was a link. She clicked on it, knowing it might be a virus or something. The screen went dark and she sighed.
A small light formed in the very center, leaning closer she saw that there was a woman in it one who was wearing a red dress with dark black-brown hair. Her eyes glittered as she got closer, a voice much like Arwen's in the movie began to sing. Dark tumbled into the computer.

Pandora nodded her head before tying her auburn hair back into a pony tail, it was getting quite hot.
"I see why not, I mean how many chances do you get to meet Frodo?" Pandora had overcome her doubts and was more than excited to meet more of the characters from Lord of the Rings.

More suddenly than she could react, Idril felt a hand clapped against her mouth and an arm pulling her behind a cluster of trees. Struggling against the strong hold, she groped for her buck knife, which was still at her side. She ceased struggling, and after two of the black riders had passed, a strangely familar voice hissed slightly at her ear. "Shh, quiet, you know not what chases you... it would be wise if you were to remain silent... agreed?"
Unable to think of any other action other than doing as order, she nodded with widened eyes, and when the hand was removed, she gasped and moved away hurriedly, tripping and stumbling to the ground, still backing away at the same time. Through rather disheveled hair and wide eyes, Idril saw who had pulled her back, her jaw immediately dropping, something it had been doing alot lately. "Y-y-you..." Did her eyes decieve her? Was she dreaming? Where was her mare? She needed to touch something, to know she was awake and not imagining the cloaked ranger who stood there inspecting her with a rather curious and puzzled gaze. Most likely her strange attired had given him a shock, but she knew that face, she knew that voice as Aragorn, Elessar, Strider, the ranger, the king, and... "Oh gawd! It is you! What happened? Where am I? Where's Princess? Why the heck are you here?! Did Rithers send you to try and freak me out or something?"
Freaked out was an understatement for her right then, and she suddenly clapped a hand over her mouth, thinking better of her words. What if this was real...? He'd certainly think her to be out of her mind...
The ranger did indeed seemed shocked and very much so puzzled. "Rithers? Princess? I am sorry, I do not believe I quite understand what you are saying, milady... I would advise, however, that you keep your voice down... do not draw attention to yourself... though in such... bright colored... attire, it may be hard not to... where do you hail from? Perhaps I can return you to your home if it is in my power to do so."
Idril cringed. Certainly she must look to be a loony. What would she do?! As though relieving her thoughts, Princess came through the trees and crept her way over. "Th-this is Princess..." Idril murmured, trying to close her gaping mouth and lessen the widening of her eyes. "I... er... apologize... er... milord, for my... er... odd behavior, to say the least..." she swallowed hard, hoping this would at least lessen the edge of awkwardness. He merely inclined his head slightly, still glancing her over. "I er... I come from a land which is not close in distance, not in the least... it most likely would not be in your power to return me there... milord..."
"Then to where do you travel?" He questioned, suddenly seeming cautious. "Er... what is the nearest village...?" "Bree..." was the hasty reply. Her eyes widened slightly again. "Oh, I see... umm... and... are you yourself headed there?" Again he nodded. "That is where I am headed..." she murmured, fidgeting slightly. "Very well, then I shall accompany you at least, for it is rare that a lady journeys alone, but Bree is as far as I go, you shall have to seek assistance elsewhere after that..."
She nodded numbly, and with hardly another word, she climbed onto her mare and they went forward silently, Idril silent out of shock, while Strider was silent out of experiance. (*is off to bree* )

Dark opened one bleary eye, half expecting to see a bothersome friend standing over her with a baseball bat and large bump on her forehead. But all she was were clear blue skies and small fluffy clouds scooting across the sky. She opened the other eye and sat up, green grass was all around her, gently rolling hills were all around and there was a small valley ype thing below her. She got to her feet, slowly brushing off any dirt. A small curly haired person walked pass her, giving her the weird where-the-heck-did-you-come-from-and-what-the-heck-are-you-wearing? look. She watched him go by and nearly jumped as something small tugged on her pat leg.
"What are you? Are you one of the Big Folk? I've heard scary stories about you. Do you drink bwood?" A small curly haired child was speaking to her.
"Where...am i?" She asked, looking around.
"Your in Hobbiton silly! How come your don't have furry feet? My mommy says i have the bestest fuwwy feet in the whole entire world!"
Dark paused and suddenly something dawned on her. "I'm in....Middle Earth...aren't I?"
The little child giggled. "Yes silly, follow me!" The child skipped off, dragging Dark behind her.
