OOC- Ok. I'm working 3 days a week and 11 hours those days at work. So those days I won't hardly have time to post so this is going to be a slow casual RP, I'm hoping we can have a lot of fun and keep it going for a long time, though. So post your characters! ![]() No God modding and as long as it's realistic in the LOTR world then It's ok in here. It is shortly before Frodo finds the ring. A small group, suppressed and enslaved by goblins and orcs hear rumors of resistance building. (Rumors when Gandalf is researching the ring and Frodo keeps it safe) These rumors feed their desire to be free. Their elaborate escape plans are thrust further with the excitement, anticipation, and most of all, hope! As the plans accelerate a new rumor is whispered in the ears of the captives... a rumor that the one ring is found.... that it is heading towards Mordor to be destroyed! As their escape plan explodes into full throttle they forge new lives for themselves. Spurred on by continuing rumors of the growing resistance to Mordor, those who are willing, band together and start their own resistance, fighting towards Mordor in search of the "Fellowship of the Ring." It seems they are always one step behind the fellowship, but they never slow down and ultimately are caught in epic battles and the fate of the world. ______________________________________________________________________________ Name: Micah Race: Human Background: Micah was raised in his village from birth to teen years, learning how to be a hunter. At his 14th year, however, his learning was abruptly ended as orcs and goblins flooded his lands. As common as his story is, his father and relatives died in the war and he and a few people he knew were kept as slaves by the orcs to work their forges and provide them food and other needed supplies. Personality: Gets worked up easily, whether angry, happy, excited, etc... Knows how to push peoples buttons but knows how to be smart and hold his tongue if needed. Weapons: He prefers a long spear with long wide blade on the end. Description: Brown eyes, dark hair that is just past his shoulders, medium build and average height. He wears light leather clothing and always has a belt with random items on it. ______________________________________________________________________________ OOC- Ok, everyone else get characters up if you are interested in the RP and I will get the first post started this weekend. Thanks all! *waves* |

It had been almost a year since Micah had been enslaved by the orcs. He woke up, wiping dirt off his face. His dwelling, and that of his people and fellow slaves, was in an underground facility, designed to prevent escape. Micah sat up and looked around, quickly him and the rest of the slaves stood to attention as Grimshaw, their orc task master stepped into view. "Now listen up! Some say you may have heard rumors of a resistance building against Sauron... I can assure you the rest of the world is no better off than the rest of you! So no gossiping and get back to making more weapons!" |

(Ok, so this will be my first rp on this forum. Joined today, but I'm not new to this as I started rping on the tag nearly 8 years ago. I'll have to apologize up front in case I should disappear, because college is keeping me busy.) Name: Nidaros Age: Early 40s Race: Human Background: Worked as a village healer until he was blinded by a spear-hilt smashing his brow during a bandit raid. He was taken care of by friends for several years until they were separated by war and he ended up a slave. The only reason he is kept alive is because of his skills with healing, that he can manage well enough without the help of his sight. Personality: A very fatherly type, rule-abiding, cautious, sometimes very told-you-so. He's an optimist by heart, and rarely ever gives up, and is just as rarely in a bad mood (and if he is, he hides it well). Appearance: Long unkempt greyish brown hair, a square jaw and a strong nose. Not very muscular, but not thin and scrawny either. Medium height. Usually wears a large tunic with light colours and dark well-fitted trousers. Weapons: None. Abilities: Good with medicine, decent with surgery (can do basic stuff despite his handicap), has a great sense of feeling, smell and hearing. |

Hearing the rough growling voice of the task master, he cursed inwardly. There weren't many things Nidaros hated in the world, but if he had to pick one, it would have to be Grimshaw. Well, if you didn't count Sauron. Or trolls. Or his old aunt's vegetable stew. It's a new day, he thought. New day, new injuries, new secret meetings in the dark, planning our long-awaited escape... He rubbed his arm where one of the overseers had punched him the day before for not walking straight enough. It hurt worse today. He hoped it wouldn't become a nuisance. |

Hey, welcome to the forum! ![]() The day got running, slaves busy at work and Grimshaw constantly checking in on them periodicly. Micah stepped over to Nidaros. "How are you doing this morning?" he continued filling the furnace with coal while the others forged weapons for the orcs. |

Turning to the source of the greeting, he broke into a wide smile as he recognized the voice. Having nothing to do at the moment, he was glad to have someone to talk to. "Ah, Micah!" he said, leaning closer so that I would look like he was helping if any overseer decided to cast a glance in their direction. "Terrific, as always." There was a hint of sarcasm in his voice. "How about you?" |

Eofor glanced over from where he labored at the forge when he heard low whispers from his fellow slaves. "Hsssst!" He made a noise through his teeth, then jerked his head towards the right. There, not more than two stone throws away, an overseer was heading towards them. It could be worth their lives if they were to be seen talking, as he'd seen happen before. And they couldn't afford to lose any more people. The man then turned his attention back to the broad sword he was making. Probably for some orc captain, Eofor thought grimly. I wonder if I might find some way of giving it a structural weakness.... he shook the thought away. Even if he knew such a skill, Grimshaw would catch it before it was sent off. |

Micah tapped Nidaros on the arm, his way of nodding a reply as he would to another. He looked over as Eofor warned them. Micah put his attention back to his work. He glanced a thankful look towards Eofor but his expression quickly turned angry towards the overseer headed their way. He made sure to turn his away so the orc couldn't see his ill look. |

Hearing Eofor's warning, the smile vanishes from Nidaros' face and he leans back, resuming his so-called "watch duty". |

Micah watched casually as the orc passed by, not making his atention known. After the creature was past he whispered under his breath, "You just wait... one of these days!" He went back to his work. That night there would be another meeting, but not just any meeting, this one was special. A message had been smugled to them from the outside world, a message thats contents were to be read to them that night. No one but the bosses knew what it was about and no knew for sure who they even were... Micah had often expected either Nidaros or Eofor... or maybe both! All he knew is there were a handful of people running the show but no one knew their identity. He set in for the long haul and pressed forward to that night's meeting, eager to see what the news was. |

After a long day in the suffocating heat of the forge, Nidaros was glad to be able to breathe in the cool, though stale, air of the pit they all slept in. There had been few injuries to attend to that day, apart from that rather nasty burn incident with one of the younger boys who slept in the cell across from theirs, so he had mostly just been set to hand out food and water. Why he was still being kept alive by the orcs was beyond him. He hadn't much strength, and key: he couldn't see. But he supposed that they were short on human slaves, so they needed someone to keep the ones they already had healthy. As soon as another healer was brought in, he was sure he would be executed on the spot. There were rumours about a message from the outside world having made it's way to them. It would be read at tonights meeting, and Nidaros could practically feel the collective anticipation in the air. It would be the first sliver of news they'd had in ages. It had to be good news. He was sure of it. |

As night slipped in to the pit... or at least what seemed like night, for it got dark early and got very dark in the depths of their whole, one by one those elected to go to the meeting lurked into the secret meeting spot. Micah, not being one of the original invites waited impatiently outside the going ons to hear second hand from the multiple messengers they would send out to spred the news quietly and safely through the ranks of the slaves. |

Eofor sat on edge, waiting to hear the news. He had heard bits and pieces, of course, since he was in contact with the topmost members of the group. But bits and pieces could never equal the excitement of hearing in full. A young lad, perched on another man's shoulders, waved his hand eagerly - and at the sign of all clear, Magorlad stood up. Tall and grizzled, Magorlad was a constant encouragement to the rest: because he lived. Almost no one knew of a time before Magorlad was a slave, which garnered respect. Eofor was lucky enough to be a bit of a special protege, so to speak, of the man, and so could hear the goings on hours beforehand. As Magorlad spoke softly and deeply about the outside news, Eofor (who was sitting near the edge of the group) whispered the news to pass it along. "Mithrandir....oh, they must mean Gandalf.....goings on in Minas Tirith..." He paused and cocked his head. "Rangers of the North in the brown lands! What could a ranger be doing there? ....searching for something. Someone? Only rumors, so far...." "Eriador!" This came nearly to full volume, such was his surprise. "Are there even people living...? Elves? No...well, someone lives there, and it seems to be getting some attention...." He could hear faint mumblings as the whispers were passed along. |
