"Possibly," Aralas said, sighing. The girls stopped talking and Gandalf's voice filled the gloom. He was talking with Frodo. "Pity? It was pity that stayed Bilbo's hand. He's right, she thought. She sighed and tried to go back to sleep, but her mind was filled with her friend, Géorn's screams. "Anariel! Help!" She remembered what happened. Her mind was filled with it. She couldn't move after her friend screamed. It was as if she was paralyzed. Tears fell down her face. Aralas sat up and listened to Frodo and Gandalf's conversation. She sat closer to them and thought.

"Yes, I'm okay," Anariel quickly stammered. She tried to stop the tears, but it was hard. Georn was a really close friend of hers. She turned to Anabel. "G-Georn. He was a really close friend of mine. We-we," she tried to continue but it just hurt too much. When she finally stopped crying she looked at Anabel. "Sorry about that."

"I don't really know what happened to him. I wish I could have helped him. I hurt myself and they almost took me. He helped fight them off but it wasn't enough. They said something in the Black Speech and they took him away. It was terrible. I couldn't do anything to help him. I felt paralyzed," Anariel said, while trying to hold off the tears. They were coming back again.

"Anariel," said Anabel. "I have met this Georn. When I was kept in Mordor, his cell was the one next to mine. There was a small window, and he would hoist himself up to talk to me. Mostly he talked of escape, and for that I deemed him crazy. He offered a reward if I helped him get out. I said no. Usually I ignored him, but when I listened, sometimes he told me of his family and friends and himself. He talked of a girl always eager for adventure. Light brown hair, blue eyes. Named Anariel. You. He told me please help him, he wanted to see you again. I told him I couldn't. I wanted to but I couldn't." Here she paused, knowing Anariel wouldn't like this part. "The day I was recruited, they came to him first. I heard muffled conversation, then a firm "No", then a tortured scream, then silence. Then they came to me...... and well, you know what happened." Anabel fell silent.

If in doubt, Meriadoc, always follow your nose," Gandalf answered. Aralas got to her feet and followed the Grey Wanderer.

Anariel just got her things and nodded slowly in reply to Lessien. They went down a small staircase and entered a huge hall. "Let me risk a little more light," Gandalf said, raising his staff and letting the light shine throughout the whole place. "Behold the great realm and dwarf city of Dwarrowdelf." "Elo," Aralas breathed, finding the beauty and vastness of the place so great she fell into her own tongue. "There's an eye-opener and no mistake," Sam said.
