Screams emitted from the smoke and flame as the village wrapped itself in a blazing inferno. Men had long given up trying to put it out, and instead ran, taking what pieces of family they could. What was once a dark indigo sky, star-knitted and cloudless, had now morphed into a grey-ish brown, tinted with smoke licked with yellow fire. How it had all started was a mystery, but within moments, it had transformed itself from a peaceful sleeping village, into total utter chaos.
It had reached the point of no hope. It had grown so fast and so large, that no one had time to react...And the price they would pay was deadly. No home. No food. No water. Some had even lost their souls that night, leaving some motherless, fatherless, or childless. A fate no one should ever endure..
A solitary figure stood hooded and cloaked infront of the burning homes. Behind that figure, stood a couple dozen fear-stricken people, clinging to themselves, and weeping.
Eilwynn blinked, her amber eyes lit up, and engorged with the flames, they seemingly held a fire of their own as they watched painfully at what had become of this place. Her hand released a small leather pouch, and from it spilled several coins. Her payment. It meant nothing now.
As the fire reached its most heated extremity, a faint cry could be heard from within one of the huts. Eilwynn's crimson optics darted to her left, from which the sound came, terror gripping her stomach, and seeming to tear it in half. A child was left inside..
Without thinking, she immediately tore off her cloak, and cast it down, running into the miniature fiery chasm. Several villagers gasped, and shouted at her, bewildered as to why she would be running into that place. The entrance was already kicked open, but several drops of fire dripped from the archway to the threshold. Very quickly, she slipped inside, her lungs suddenly contorting and making her cough out the offensive smoke. Her eyes stung and began to water, she wanted to run back out, but she couldn't. Choking, she yelled out. " Where are you!?"
Just as she had done so, a tall pillar of wood that supported the roof seemed to buckle. At any given moment it could have caved in, finishing her and whoever else was in the hut. She shouted once more, and squinting through the smoke, she spotted a curled up boy, no older than six huddled in a corner. Quickly, she strode over to him, and picked him up. ..The worst had happened...
The pillar budged once more, croaking out an eerie moan and snap as it finally fell over, the blazing roof showering shortly after it. Eilwynn arched herself over the small boy who was screaming bloody murder in her arms, and lunged for the wall nearest them, and furthest away from the ceiling which had caved in. Cinders poked feircly at her arms, and without thinking, she hurled herself and the boy through a window, rolling out on the ground. A second after she had done so, the whole hut went down in flames. Screams erupted from behind the smoke of where the people were, thinking that she had not made it.
Coughing--choking on smoke and ash, Eilwynn checked the boy, who surprisingly seemed untouched, other than being coated with dirt and hay. Eilwynn gasped in for air, and struggled to pull herself up....
( By the way: This takes place somewhere in Rohan..I'm terrible with geography in Middle Earth. )

ic: Skylar was staring at her home. the once tall proud spires now ablazed with flame. she was in shock, speechless. she had no will to cry, not wish to vent her sorrow. there was nothing anymore... nothing... for her love was still in that building. visions of what happened flashed through her mind...
she woke, the smell of smoke filling her nose, making her cough and choke. "Seth!!" she screamed, and the man next to her woke with a start. "o my..." he muttered, "Skylar, we have to get out of here!" they ran downstairs, stride for stride, flames licking at there clothes and burning their eyes, the smoke was unbearable. sudenly his hands closed on her arms, and he lifeted her and threw her out the window. she heard a crash, sensed something had fallen, before she fell two stories and landed hard on the grass...
as Skylar looked now at the wreckage of her house, she didnt need to see to be sure. Seth was dead.

( Oh sure, thanks guys! Just leave me here..Lol, 'kidding.)
The young boy stood, looking utterly pertrified down at the woman who had saved his life, who was still choking down on the ground. Though the worst was surely over, and if it wasn't yet, it was sure to come instantly..The after-effect had yet to take place.
Eilwynn was not a part of that village, she had merely visited it for business purposes of her own..However, she felt a great need to help these people, as if it were her sworn duty. Of course, she could have walked away right then and there. She could have let the boy burn. She could have pretended she never saw all those hopeless, pitiful, shocked faces who were now gathering around her. But she couldn't.
A frantic mother raced towards the boy, throwing her arms around him, and showering him with kisses in a weeping fit for joy. She blessed Eilwynn multiple times, however, she could not hear it amongst the roar of the fire and her own coughing.
An older man helped her up, and carried her farther away from the blazing heat and offensive smoke, and sat her down on a rather large boulder. She was offered water, and she took it gratefully, swallowing the cool liquid in long gulps. Finally, she sputtered for air once more, and breathed deeply, finally set free of her stinging lungs. A weak smile curved her lips, and she thanked them.
Now all that was left to do was sit back and watch it burn.. Watch it slowly die down, and watch the ashes drift away..Ashes of what once were their homes. All that had been accounted for were there. Many had perished in the savage flames..That was evident from the wailing of women. The men had only stood erect, faces solemn as they comforted their wives, and let the tears roll down their cheeks. (Can I join?)
Name: Rowyn
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Appearance: tall, long blonde hair, soft grey eyes, pretty face. Wears mostly earth tones (i.e. greys, browns, greens, goldish-reds)
Family: Father: Eodred; Mother: Radwyn; Sibs: (brother) Eoden.
History: to be established
Rowyn rode in the moonlight, enjoying the peace that she felt as she and her horse Charman made their way through the tall grasses of Rohan. Suddenly she felt a horrible feeling sweep across the plains. She looked into the horizon to see a yellow light and smoke rising a short distance away."Oh no." she whispered, then she spurred Charman forward and made her way towards the smoke. She sped towards the village saying over and over "Oh let my family be spared." She neared the village and dismounted. Rowyn ran to where her house had been and found it ablaze. She covered her mouth with her hand and gasped. Frantically, she looked around her in search of her parents and brother. "Eoden!" she screamed, then she heard an answer and ran towards the sound. She found Eoden and her father huddled together on the outskirts of the village, she looked into their eyes and knew immediately, her mother was dead. She sunk into a heap beside them and sobbed, the tears streamed down her face as she remembered her beautiful, lively mother. Age had seemed not to touch her, she was as beatuful at forty as she had ever been at twenty. Rowyn could not believe that she was gone. "How?" she asked her brother. Eoden looked sadly at her "The house caught fire" he started "I woke Mama and Papa up. Mama said something about her cat, you know how she loved that scrawny thing, Papa and I went out of the house. I thought she was right behind me. When we got far from the house we realized she wasn't with us and I went back to get her but the house had already collapsed! It's my fault! I should have gotten her out first! It's my fault..." he began to sob harder, Rowyn gathered him into her arms and tried to sooth him. "Oh, dearest, It's not your fault. Mama would never blame you. I don't blame you!" At this he looked hard into her eyes "But I blame myself!" and with that he jumped up and ran off towards the hill. "Eoden!" Rowyn called after him "Let him go, lass. Let him grieve." her father said slowly "Oh, Papa, I'm sorry I wasn't here to help you." she said as she reached out to hold her father's hand. He took hers and held it tightly "You and your brother are all I have left now. We will rebuild in time, but nothing will ever replace the hole in my heart now that your mother is gone. My darling wife... I'm sorry..." he sobbed now too, and put his hand over his eyes.(I can't figure out how to describe it... just imagine it like Theoden at Theodred's grave... That's how Eodred is crying)Rowyn sat there with her father. She looked around at the village that had been so familiar to her, now in flames. She saw a figure run into a burning house and burst out the other side with a child then be taken to safety where Rowyn could see her no longer. Suddenly Rowyn whistled and Charman came running. She put her father on the horse and, walking beside the horse, made her way to the hill to make camp and, hopefully, to find her brother....

Eilwynn's amber optics flickered over to a girl who had walked to the center of the village ( Not big enough to be a town, Deawen), her arms embracing the heat, as if she enjoyed what had become of the place.
Her brows furrowed in confusion, as she studied the figure, questions skittering across her mind, wondering if the culprit had in fact, wandered back to the scene of the crime.
Suddenly, the flames hushed their monotonous roar, and began to die down, and Eilwynn then wondered if the figure was an Elf...'Though she did not look it at first glance. Shaking her head, she stood, and turned to the villagers.
" Gather what belongings you've salvaged, and are worth being taken for a short journey; group the horses, and get ready. I'm taking you to Theoden."
And with that, she cast one last glance at the mysterious figure, and leapt gracefully onto her stallion's back. (Bareback, no saddle, mind you.)
What a sight it was, that stallion. It was of good, tall, stature, with strong thick legs, and a strong neck. The muscles seemed to ripple beneath his sheen, combed, black hair, and it submitted to Eilwynn's every command, before she uttered a word.
Gently kicking his sides, she set him off into a slow canter, towards the girl that had so boldly re-entered the center of the village. Eilwynn's crimson eyes rested down suspiciously on the girl, examining her whole attire, and taking every detail in whilst her horse seemed to circle her slowly.
" 'Lo, there, friend."
( By the way, we may need some sort of ..bad person, I don't know some sort of antagonist. It gets boring without any challenges. )

Eilwynn's brow arched, as she did not expect to frighten her mysterious new suspect. However, her eyes did not lighten, nor did a friendly smile crease her solemn lips, instead she replied tersley:
" Yes. You can tell me your name, where you're from, why you're hear, and if the answers I find worthy, I would be delighted if you could help me take these poor village people to King Theoden."
At this, she stared down into the young girl's eyes, locking her in a stern gaze, so as to see if she made an inclination to lie; however, she kept her head held high. A pious effort. A trick she found quite usefull in the past.

Deawen straightened the fire had gave her energy
"If you find my answers worthy?"she mocked she locked her gaze with the other girl she was not going to let this girl suppress her " I'am Deawen of the westfold. and I'm here because I have buissness Here!" Deawen said tartly Deawen whistled and out of the smoke came Deawen's own stallion Bredol. Bredol was a chestnut with a cream mane and tail a clever and obedient roch. Deawen mounted Bredol then when she was ready she locked the other girl's gaze "Why should i help these villagers? and why take them to Theoden? the only thing he has ever done for me was destoyed my life!"

*If one looked hard, one could see a figure among the dancing flames. It was not running away from them, but toowards them. A woman screamed as she thought she saw someone, but the figure was lost in the flames from a collapsing bower. Sen huddled around the two young children, shielding them from the flames. Waiting for the building to settle, he picked them up under his arms, and ran out. As he came out of the flames, it seemed as if some of them followed him, before blowing away in the hot wind. He set the children down, and wiped away their tears with an armored thumb, as their mother ran crying over and picked them up. Sen stood up, and backed away slowly. His ice blue eyes, usually cold, now danced as if with an internal flame. He smiled, and began to walk off, when he noticed the rider...*
