Suddenly the assassin was slammed to the floor by a huge black jaguar. The creature rips the man's throat out, looks up at Orien with reptilian black eyes, and winks, then fades away into smoke.....

[let's all be friends. someone slap me if I post something strange because I am a bit bemused.]

Knyn leapt back onto the floor, sheathing his weapon and wishing he didn't have to look so ridiculous. In his battle heat he had put the shapeshifter out of his mind. He knelt over to the assassin's body, flipping it over for study. He dug in the assassin's pouches and found a small black insignia. Turning it over in his hand, he found the surface charred as if burnt.

"The symbol is that of the orclands," he explained, handing the insignia to Orien, "though what business they have with your brother I do not know." He stood up and called out to the empty air, "Lady, if you would really make yourself useful I suggest you search the room for means of entry? He did not enter through our door, that much apparent."

[ I just want to warn you..If you ever get sick with allergies or some sort of sinus cold..Beware if you take Actifed. It's like Sudafed but it messes you up. o_o I can't feel my legs. I get dizzy when I walk. And..it feels SOO GOOD to sleep. So yeah..<Coughed.>]


Orien observed the insignia with a little more than mild interest, a frown placing itself on his lips as his gray eyes studied it. The Queen hadn't made a sound other than the occasional shriek of a gasp when the assassin was killed. She remained pale as a ghost, standing wild-eyed and frightened. Orien cursed himself for having forgotten her.

He handed the insignia back to Knyn, nodding appreciatingly to him before he crossed the room and wrapped his mother in an embrace. It was not a long.

" Dimitri...You're brother is at war." Her voice was shaky, and her fists clenched tight around the extra material of his shirt, as if determined not to lose him.

Orien's brows wrinkled confusedly, eyes locking with her's. "With who?"

Knyn grabbed a torch from one of the guards and slipped away, allowing Orien and his mother their privacy. He climbed nimbly back onto the rafters to examine the door on the ceiling. He gave the door an experimental shove. It swung open on oiled hinges. Only darkness and the rank odor of rat droppings greeted him from the other side. He raised the torch high, peering into the gloom. After one last glance at Orien and promising that he won't be long, he murmured, "Coming, lady?"

Without further delay he faded into the tunnel.
