Ally was biting her thumbnail- a habit she had broken except when she was nervous or scared. Spotting a small group of people moving towards the dining room, she pointed. "Maybe we should go with them." she said to Maria. "They look like they know where they're going."

Catherine stared straight ahead, wrestling with desires of her own heart. To have the chance to live again, the very idea stirred a longing within her that she never thought possible. For a moment she considered forsaking all that she believed for the chance to feel the wind, to breathe the freshness of the world around her. Yet a part of her knew that this could never be. How could she live with herself if she knew that her only existance came at the murder of another? Her time in the world was over. Their time in the world was over. "No," she whispered in response to Eric. "It will not."

Eric smiled at Catherine, soft, but cold. "It will", he whispered, striking over the amulet. "You can't stop me." He began walking away from her, down to the dining room where these ignorant unworthy living beings were. Before he left, he turned round to Catherine again. "Tell me when you've changed your mind" he whispered.

Catherine watched him depart, her lips tightening in silent fury. She mentally stored an image of the way he held his amulet in the back of her mind, wondering what significance the trinket had. Staring into the vastness of nothingness she remained where she was for some moments more, wondering how she could possibly avert this disaster.
