Suakii placed the book that held her attention back in its place on the shelf, and then started as she saw the man and the girl that she had overheard just earlier. Curiosity and surprise flashed and danced about her eyes as she attempted to sneak past them before they became suspicious, and she tried as hard as she possibly could to keep those emotions from spreading all over her face.

Aivon's mouth twisted into a flat line as one of the girls attempted to leave, a less-than-innocent expression on her face. With a fluid movement to the side, the bodyguard stepped into her path, casually lifting his sword.

"Nobody leaves until I find out who was eavesdropping," he said softly, a hint of menace in his voice as he watched the girl.

Suakii nodded,

"I see..." She then stepped back a bit, looking over at the books on a shelf to her right. And even though she herself didn't realize it, a small flame danced about her fingers, weaving itself in and out of her fingers as it's intensety rose and fell.

Aivon's eyes darted from the girl in front of him to Rhaeryn when she saw flame dancing on the tips of the former's fingers.
Another Kiani? What are the odds of that? he wondered, but let his protective instincts take over. No longer holding his sword in a casual manner, he assumed a defensive position between Rhaeryn and the girl who could apparently manipulate fire.

"What's your name, lass?" he asked the stranger, noticing that his actions were drawing the eyes of the others in the room.

Suakii's train of thoughts were thrown off by the man, and therefore the flame vanished, as if it was never there. He hand was a bit pink, but other than that, nothing had changed.

"Uh... Suakii, If you must know. Why?" She inquired, curious as to why this man wanted her identity, and why he was guarding the girl behind him as is Suakii was some sort of monster.

"So that I can call you something besides 'lass' or 'girl'," Aivon explained. The girl was obviously oblivious to what she had just been doing.

"Please try not to have flame on your hands again," he said carefully. "I am Rhaeryn's--" he indicated his ward with a jerk of his head, "bodyguard, and people with fire in their hands count as a threat when they're near her. I would hate to have to hurt you."

He glanced from one girl to the other, biting his lip the way he normally did when he was thinking hard. The girls did look remarkably similar, though Suakii was definitely older than Rhaeryn. However, if he hadn't know about the parents of either, he would have readily believed that they might be sisters.

Suakii's face became seemingly void of color when Avion mentioned fire in her hands. She moved a bit closer so that only he could hear.

"I was... Manipilating fire? Oh dear...." The color returned to her face, but she blushed lightly. She really did have to learn how in the world to control her powers...

She lightly fingered the mark on her palm with her opposite hand, and found that it was glowing, ever so slightly, a bright red. She slipped her hand into her pocket, not wanting anyone to see it.

Sila's gaze was drawn from the man who had spoken to her when two others entered the room. A man and a younger girl. Suddenly the girl seemed to flicker. Sila blinked then rubbed her eyes. Surely she had just been imagining things.

Suddenly Suakii began to move away, trying to appear innocent. The man with the girl stopped her before she got very far. He had his sword drawn. Sila bit her lip, worried that something bad was about to happen.

Then she noticed small flickers of flame coming from Suakii's fingertips. Sila cleared her throat, trying to catch her sister's attention so that she could make it stop. But it was too late the man had already noticed.

Rhaeryn turned - surely she hadn't just seen tiny tongues of flame dancing on one of the girls' fingertips? But then Aivon was in front of her and she stepped back, uncertain. Strange things were happening. Unknowingly she began to fade out - and hastily stopped herself, alarmed.

Sila's attention was again drawn to the girl- Rhaeryn, she thought the man had said that was her name. She began to fade in and out of view slightly. Sila gasped. "You just vanished!" she exclaimed.

Rhaeryn turned, not having seen Sila - now determinedly keeping herself fully visible. She hesitated. "No...you must be imagining things."

Latanya jumped and stood up.
"She can't be... I saw it myself," she said.

Mordev placed both hands in the air in before him in a calming gesture. "No need to start," he spoke smoothly, diverting their attention from each other to him. Now was as good a time to speak up as any.

His gaze encompassed them all as he introduced himself, "My name is Mordev. I report directly from King Sielio." He glanced around, then lowered his voice. "I would like to speak to all of you in private. And not to worry; harming your girl wouldn't benefit me," he added dryly, glancing at the paranoid bodyguard.

Rhaeryn came uncertainly forward to stand beside Aivon. "Why?" she demanded, suddenly suspicious. "I don't even know you."

"Because, believe it or not, the lot of you could possibly comprise Grenik's worst nightmare," came the glib retort. Again he glanced around the crowded study hall. "But let's just allow the entire world to know that, shall we," he added pointedly.

Sila's eyes widened. Someone sent by the king himself? She leaned closer to Suakii and said, "I had hoped to get some answers by coming here, but I hadn't expected this." She turned to Mordev. "What exactly is going on here?" she asked.
