((Sorry, this is my first chance today. Oh and Mara didn't realise those were his hands, at least not yet.))
Mara nodded. "I know what you mean. I once was using a welding torch in a shopmetal class, making a sculpture. I had stayed late, then another student came in, got too close without these goggles you need to wear to protect you eyes. He lost most of his sight." She shivered. "Every one said it wasn't my fault. But my Dad . . . "
((Just so you know, her father is always drinking, and and he is abusive wiether he is drunk or not. Her Mother doesn't care, she is adicted to pain killers and sleeping pills. I thought this would make it more instristing.))

Rachel listened to Mara talk about the welding torch accident, and then her father. When she stopped talking Rachel looked over her shoulder and walked towards Mara. "Mara... just forget about him. It wasn't your fault." She told her friend, softly. She pulled her into an embrace.

(Oh I get it! I thought you did see the hands already. Ha ha!)
Edward stood where he was and didn't move, seeing that the girls embraced. His face looked normal and he blinked. He then heard another voice from down stairs. His eyes grew big and his brows frowned. This frightened him and he backed up into one of his sculptures, knocking it down and shattering it to pieces. He held up his hands infront of his face for protection.

Rachel looked up to Edward and pulled away from her embrace with Mara. "Mar, we'll be right back." She hurried towards Edward, carefully. She grabbed him by the arm, and hurried down the corridor with him. "You need to hide, Edward. They might call the police on you. I don't want you harmed." She looked into his eyes, when she took him in a room and locked the door behind them.

(I knock over one of my sculptures, and you lock me in a room? Ha ha! You know that Rachel is going to take Ed home with her, right?)
Edward stumbled past Mara, barely missing her arm with one of his scissors. His face looked scared and startled. As Rachel shut the door behind her Edward said, "The police are coming?" Fear could be heard in his voice.

His face remained in the same expression it was not a few moments ago. "H-home...Kim?" He wanted to go back, but he feared the same thing would happen to him once back in the same neighborhood.

Rachel sighed and looked into his eyes. "Please... I want to protect you. If something happened to you..." She stopped talking and looked to the ground a little sad. She had no idea what was wrong with her. She had only known Edward for a few minutes, but she felt like she knew him for so long.
