she had kept everything inside. the death of her sister, the sheer fact that Tamie reminded her of her sister. josh and what he had done. Sylan and how he was never home anymore. and everything else.
she stopped and turned to look at him. " WHY......." she screamed.

David cleaned her wound and bandaged it then sat next to her. " i'm sorry.." he said softly. " i didnt mean to hit you with the knife.." he said almost in tears.

Tamie turned to look at David. "It wasn't your fault, you didn't hit me ... he did." She shuttered and covered her face.

Sylan pulled off to the side of the road and got out. He didn't understand. "Why ... " He repeted softly. "Why what?" He asked wanting her to explain what she wanted to know.

Lanie took a few steps away from him. " why did all this have to happen. why did i make a stupid mistake that led to so many others, why did mom and dad die and why.....why did my sister die?" she asked in a hurt and misunderstood tone. she didnt understand why all this happend. was she being punished for something she did?

Sylan watched her a deep sadness welling up from somewhere deep within him. She was asking the same questions he had been askeing for so many years, and still didn't have the answers to. "I don't know why they died Lanie ..." He said softly. "But it wasn't your fault."

Tamie turned pressing her face against David's chest. A sob broke free of her lips and she began to cry. "He ... He ... He threatened to ... do ... awful things to me ..." She managed to say between sobs.

David wanted to track down the man and kill him. " tamie we have to notifye the police.." he said letting her sob on him.

Lanie's tears did not cese. she turned and started walking again. " Sylan your never home anymore...i'm by myself all the time thinking to myself about all these things. dont leave me alone with my thoughts..." she said as she walked.

Sylan ran after her and when he caught up he pulled her into a big hug. "Why didn't you say something!" He wispered into her hair. "I would have stayed but I thought you wanted to be alone."

Tamie didn't answer. Crying sapped what little strengh she had ans she drifted off to sleep leaning against David.

Lanie wanted to run away but she wraped her arms around her brother. they both stood there for a moment. After Lanie had dried her tears she looked up at Sylan. " will you take me to school now?" she asked.

David sighed. he heard that voice every once in a while.

Sylan nodded and loosened his hug so Lanie could move. "Yeah ... and if anyone asks why you were late, tell them it was a family crisis." He started to walk back to the the car. "You want me to pick you up, or would you rather ride the bus?"

Tamie awakened at the sound of a door opening. She looked up realizing that David was still holding her, and tried to sit up embarrassed.

Lanie looked at the ground. " mmhm, ok." she said as she got back into the car.
she looked in the mirror and decided she didnt care what she looked like today.
she readied herself to face the day.

David had fallen asleep as well and was still asleep when Tamie woke up.
the sound Tamie heard was David's mom coming in from her early morning run. she was normal gone about three hours.
it gave her time to think.
she walked past the living room and then back in. she saw that David was still there, but he had someone in his arms that looked a whole lot like corison. she did a double take and then decieded it was her imagination and walked upstairs.

Tamie turned to just in time to see a lady disapear up the stares. She carefully moved so as not to awaken David and went to get her cloths.

Sylan climbed into the car and drove toward the school. "What time do I need to be there to pick you up?"

David woke up a few minuets after Tamie had gotten up. he looked at his watch and saw what time it was.
almost time for school.
he stood up and looked around. " Tamie?" he said looking around for her.

Mary Ann went to get out of the shower and reached for her robe but it wasnt there.
she thought that was odd and just grabed a towel and got dressed.

Tamie quickly changed out of the bathrobe. The light dress she now wore completely hid the bandage on her soulder. She heard David call her name and went back to the living room. "I'm right here ... thanks David." She said feeling slightly akward.

Sylan nodded. "In that case ... I will see you when you get home." The silence was akward, but he didn't say anything.
