Shannon stared at the shovel for a few minutes and then felt her heart start beating very fast. She looked into Mort/Shooter's eyes and took a deep breath. "You didn't let me say goodbye to Mort properly." She said softly, but had a look of anger in her eyes.

"And I'm sure that in time, yer death will be a mystery....even to me," Shooter also responded. He then placed his foot over the head of the shovel, ready to dig into the soft pale flesh of Shannon's neck. "Now...finish my story, Mr. Rainey," he ordered with his voice cold and cruel.

Shannon glared to Mort/Shooter and then slapped him hard across the face. "LET ME TALK TO MORT, NOW!" She screamed to him angrily and put her face inches away from his.

The back of shovel suddenly blunted Shannon across the face, knocking her back down into the wet mud.
"He took my life away from me years ago, mis'sus. It was such a good story, such a good life and he went and 'it that blasted ‘delete’ key and took it all away. Then he thought that wasn’ enough and he burned what was left of it! He burned my life, what makes ya' think I’m so keen on havin’ yours?"

Shooter shook angrily, "I am glad that yer perdy face won't be around to torture, Mr. Rainey anymore." His eyes gazed deep into hers coldly as he raised the shovel, "Goodbye missy."

Shannon glared angrily to Mort/Shooter and then felt adrenaline rush through her veins. She quickly got up from the mud and tackled herself into him, hoping to send him to the ground. She grabbed hold of the shovel with both of her hands, and tried to knee Mort/Shooter in the groin. "MORT! PLEASE COME BACK!" She screamed to him.

Mort's face grimaced, but it made Shooter all the more angry. "You filthy animal. . ." His mud caked hands wrench around her soft throat and he watched her slowly with dark, hidden eyes.

Shannon glared more to Mort/Shooter and grabbed hold of the shovel, since his hands were around her neck. She held onto it tightly and the hit him right across the face with it, hard.

Shannon took a few steps back, still holding onto the shovel tightly. She had to try and catch her breath. She was scared to death. She never thought that Mort, the man she loved, would try and kill her.
