((Why would it be my post? Jack asked Will a question; anything any of my characters have to say or do would only be an interruption. I have an intro planned, but now isn't the opportune moment. I was planning on talking to Pip last night, but she kinda didn't get on at the time she said, and I'm too sick to stay up late right now. But basically, if you have the perfect opening to post, never just wait on me. Worst-case scenario, I'll recover and catch up. Please don't wait until late this evening. I'm impatient to finish this up, and all these delays are driving me insane. ))

(Sorry I couldn't pose ealier POTR. I've been at work all day. )
Will tried to take this ceremony seriously, but couldn't help but cringe at Jack's lack of experience in this matter. Still none the less, he focused on Elizabeth's truthful eyes and answered, "I do."
Elizabeth grinned with a mischevious smirk at Will, and responded, "Hanging will never take you from me, Mr. Turner." Her eyes shifted to Jack in a joking matter.

Jack continued on, titling his head back with dignity, "Then do ye, Lizzie, take thee, eunuch, to be yer wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or bloody worse, for richer or bloody poorer, through bloody sickness and in health, to love and to love some more, till hangin' do ye part?"

Elizabeth smiled and rolled her eyes at Jack, "I do." Her face brightened at the words she had just spoken and she gripped Will's hands tighter.
Will smiled softly back at her and said, "Of course you do."

Jack's head suddenly shot up and his eyes looked past the young couple towards Barbossa, "Oio! Ring man...present the rings shall ye?"
He snapped his fingers and whistled for the man as if Hector were a dog.

Barbossa glanced up indifferently from where he was leaning against the rail. "I've no rings but my own, an' you'll have t' forgive me for bein' less than inclined to part with them," he replied in a mild tone that nonetheless enforced the finality of the words. "P'raps the captain should provide th' rings? Or, heav'n forbid, the groom's father?"
"I ne'er had a ring; could barely afford Kate's as it was," Bootstrap said with a shrug. "An' she kept her ring, not I. Far's I know, she still had it when she..." he trailed off uncomfortably for a moment, then abruptly continued. "Anyway, a weddin's about more'n the rings. They're jus' symbols, nothin' more."

"Bootstrap's right. Rings, don't matter."
Quickly he happily changed the subject, for Captain Jack would never give any of his things away, to Elizabeth maybe, but to the whelp...that'd be a no.
Straightening up, Jack continued, "Now...who gives Lizzie to be married to this eunuch?"

An awkward silence fell over the group as it occured to them that there wasn't exactly anyone qualified to fill that role. Not that it was a particularly crucial tradition, but it was a tradition nonetheless.
Barbossa had already made it quite obvious that he considered the whole proceeding a waste of time and would have no more to do with it than absolutely necessary, so he was out.
Bootstrap considered speaking up, but, again, it wasn't quite his place-- he'd only met the lass a few days ago, after all, and he had his own son to see to. He recalled with a wry grin that his own ceremony had been lacking this particular detail as well, though chiefly because his father-in-law would have sooner killed Bill than give his daughter over to a poor sailor.
Silence continued to permeate the air as everyone merely stood there, glancing from one person to another, and no one spoke. This had gone on for well over a minute when the spell was finally broken.
"I do," a deep voice announced from the far side of the deck. A prisoner, nearly forgotten amidst the whirlwind of activity, stood between two crewmen, each of whom had him firmly grasped by the arm. With some effort, James pried himself from their grip and strode over to where the impromptu wedding party had formed. He smiled briefly -almost as if laughing at some private, self-deprecatory joke- before continuing. "I am confident that her father would have wished it so, had...had he known that he would be unable to attend."

Well....they had no rings....but that didn't matter.....and they had no one to hand over Elizabeth......what else could go wrong?
But as James spoke up and offered Elizabeth over to Will, her eyes stared at him in shock and wonder. The man she had known since she was a small girl, who mostly felt like an older brother to her, was handing her over to William.....the man that James would never have imagined giving Elizbeth to in marriage.
With a caring, yet grateful nod, Elizabeth said, "Thank you, James."
Will looked to Norrington with a soft blink, "Aye, thank you." His eyes were serious and they read to James that Elizabeth would be in good hands. He knew how much Norrington had loved and cared for his new bride.

Well, that was a shock. Jack was staring wide-eyed at James. When did he step into this arrangement? Honestly, he had forgotten about the man. Sad but true.
Thankfully though, Jack snapped out of the trance and continued on, "Then in as much as William and Elizabeth have consented in holy wedlock and have witness the same before God," Here, Jack placed his hands in a prayer position and acknowledged the one up above, "According to the powers vested in me by this ship and bein' an ordained Captain of The Flyin' Dutchman, I pronounce that ye are now husband and wife. In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, those whom God has joined together let no one put asunder..."
Jack smirked proudly. He had done those vows quite fancy. Reaching out his scarecrow arms in a broad, theatrical presentation towards the sky Jack shouted, "Now, I may kiss the bride!"
Before Elizabeth Swann had time to react, Jack had yanked her into his side, and their lips were locked. Obviously it didn't occur once to Jack that his teeth were still mutated and in no state of touching human flesh, let alone kissin'...
