The dirty boot rose to the table and the heels slammed against the wooden surface causing the dwarf on the other side of the table to sneer at Crove.

"Ye mind? I try keeping this place clean and you come here causing a head ache... well perhaps not a head ache, if you have good news that is."

Crove smirked at the dwarf and threw a round, fist sized crystal on the table that rolled to the dwarf. The dwarf picked it up and sneered again.

"Ye return carrying trinkets, what is this ye half breed fool?"

"Proof"

Crove said and released the enchantment of the object, it glowed a bright light before showing an image recorded by it. The dwarf gazed at the crystal at first with amazement then a smirk rose on his face as the face of a certain mage appeared on it. When the dwarf had confirmation he threw the crystal to Crove who caught it with a smile as the dwarf placed a small purse of gold on the table.

"Aye it be that *beep*, but why didn`t ye bring tis information to the Luskan boss?" the dwarf inquired.

"He is up to something, something big and he is using a group of fugitives including me to do his dirty work of infiltrating Silverymoon`s vaults.... he has obviously drawn some of his last cards and his game is about coming to an end, if he cannot snatch victory here. I am going with that group and you need to inform the higher ups, understood?" Crove reasoned with the guild master.

"Aye, this be the time we might succeed and who knows? Perhaps we`ll take some of the high ladies wealth along with us eh?" The dwarf chuckled as he drew two new gold purses and placed them on the table.

"That was my firm intention"

Crove answered with a smirk as he grabbed the three gold bags on the table before disappearing out of the tavern. He headed for the market and acquired what he needed before heading for the gate where he would wait for the rest to return to him.

"Ah, well, let me think on it." The two mercenaries continued a few paces more before a bright array of blades spread out on a gaudy cloth caught Arielle's roving eye. She picked up a knife and squinted along the edge, tapping the fine steel with her thumb and wiggling the blade against its bindings to the handle. Regretfully, she shook her head. "I'll not be taking one of these pretties, though - these are for the gentry." They moved on. "Provisions, aye, and -" she found what she was looking for "- a drink."

Leading the way through a narrow, littered street to a well-patronized tavern, Arielle explained. "I've a contact here - an agent, you might say - and I'll not object to a chance to make some honest gold." She didn't add the obvious, that any quick job opportunities would take less time and have a better chance of success with two pairs of hands. And if, perhaps, the job happened to take longer than expected and the Luskan mage's recruites happened to leave without her - well, she didn't object to that either. "And you, now, would you be turning down a job? A quick one, mind you."

Falch'nus raised his eyebrows at the less than impressive tavern. A bray of guffaws issued from within. Even as he watched, a patron came flying out the door. He deftly stepped out of the way, and the unfortunate ruffian tripped and landed in a heap right next to him.

An instant later, the very paragon of a saucy barmaid stalked outside. A well aimed mug conked the offending patron squarely between the eyes. "And keep yer dirty paws to yerself next time!" she shouted, and flounced back inside.

The ruffian picked himself up, rubbed his sore limbs, and gave her the finger.

"An auspicious welcome," Falch'nus noted. He glanced at her as they entered the tavern. "What kind of job do you have in mind?"

((Your charrie could meet up with mine, if you want. He's just sorta wandering. lol))

Ruthnak had checked at the gate where everyone was to meet, but Crove was the only one there. The half-orc didn't particularly want to be the only other one there, so he did an about-face and strolled through the streets.

As he walked, he attracted several stares. He was used to it- people weren't used to seeing an orc, no matter how much human blood he had, strolling through their city.

(ok that would be good.)

Kiana was wandering the streets when she caught sight of Ruthnak. She noticed he was getting lots of stares. Sighing at her own lonlieness, Kiana moved toward the half-orv.
"Running from Crove?" She asked with raised eyebrows.

Ruthnak's mouth twisted into a grin. "I guess you could say that." I didn't want to be the only one over there with him. I'll go back when more people are there."

He shifted topics. "Were you able to get supplies and such?"

Kiana laughed a little as they traveled deeper into the crowds, "Most of my supplies. I don't have a lot of coins so I just got what I needed. How 'bout you?"

Arielle answered with her trademark shrug. "As I've been sayin', a quick one. Or -" she raised an eyebrow, gauging Falch'nus's reaction, "mayhap not so quick, eh?" The doors swung lazily shut behind them, creaking on their rusted hinges. Moving away from the door, she waited a moment to let her eyes adjust to the considerably dimmer interior. "Ah, then, the man himself." The object of her comment was obvious; the bartender lounged behind the grungy counter, idly spinning a crude glass in his hand. Not the fanciest of establishments, this.

Putting her elbows on the counter, Arielle lounged against it, her expression showing no familiarity with the bartender at all. "Oy, there, barkeep. Anything new in? I've only time for the one drink, so it were best if small, but sae fine." She pushed a few coppers across the counter.

The man pushed himself off of his stool, muttering under his breath. Reaching for a bottle, he tipped the amber liquid into the glass he held and slid it across the bar to her. "See if this suits your rich tastes, wench. One of Neverwinter's best, from their own storehouses. A tall, dark taste, but a sweet accompaniment indeed. Best be done with it quick, there's many that want it."

"Ay, I'll finish it all right." The female mercenary allowed the barest trace of a grin to cross her lips before tossing the drink down. Slapping the glass onto the counter, she grabbed her companion's arm and led him out without comment. Once outside, she let the predatory smile reach her eyes. "Let's make this fast. I think the quickest way to the Neverwinter storehouses is through here." The pace she set going though the alley was fast, to say the least.

The swift efficiency with which Arielle had just snagged their task knocked Falch'nus off his guard. He let himself be dragged along for an ephemeral instant, before abruptly snapping to and setting a purposeful stride after her. Charging headlong into a narrow alley would arouse a few suspicions, as would a casual saunter that'd likely get them run over by an ore cart.

The alley cut behind the tavern. They rounded the corner to find themselves in a labyrinth of similar alleys and side streets. Welcome to Mirabar's underworld. Rats skittered among the sewage wastes beneath their feet. Rats of none too contrasting nature huddled in makeshift hovels. As Falch'nus and Arielle passed, they extended their hands palms-up in humble beseechment. Innocuous vagabonds indeed. By night most of them would just as soon slit both mercenaries' throats simply to save themselves the trouble.

The narrow street opened to a line of warehouses on the riverside. Falch'nus halted and met Arielle's gaze. He jerked his head emphatically at the three dwarves lounging by the corner. They looked happy enough now, but a warehouse robbery likely wouldn't improve their moods. In fact, dwarves could be known as rather volatile in the dangerous kind of way. So could the battle axes strapped on each dwarf's back.

"We should have picked a better time," he muttered. What better time to conduct an armed assault than in broad daylight?

Ruthnak nodded. "I just needed to pick up some food. I don't have much money either. Those guards at the prison took all of my money they could find."

"I hid some when they took me it. I couldn't bring much though." Kiana smiled, "There's a market over there if you need to still get some."
Kiana pointed to a food vendor not far away. The food looked good. Kiana looked disdainfullly at her provisions, salted dried meat, bread, and fruit.

((*guilty smile* I didn't get left behind or anything...I was with you all along...))

Jada had sauntered along a main thoroughfare, paying attention to nothing in particular - or so it seemed - until spotting the blotchy red demeanor of a certain butcher she unfortunately recognized. Ducking hastily through the crowd she'd inwardly cursed her less than inconspicuous appearance with a passion. An orc would attract less attention.

Having circumvented that eventuality - she had a feeling that this particular butcher had a very long memory - Jada decided it might be better if she lay low. A convenient alley provided the avenue for this course of action. Absently Jada counted the silver in her money belt. Not very much, but provisions could be useful. Likely. Generally on journeys it was convenient to be able to eat.

Two packages of dried meat and a loaf of bread later Jada was feeling rather good about herself, enough that she failed to quite watch closely enough where she was walking.

"Oy! You! You overturned my cart last season - cost me a pretty penny, I'll tell you! Half my stock ruined - "

Ah. Time to go, then.

Ruthnak glanced towards the market and nodded. "I think I have enough for now." he said. "And I could always hunt- as long as our sorcerer friend allows it, that is." He grimaced.

Kiana smiled, "He can't control it. He must know that we need to survive."

Ruthnak nodded, then fell silent. He didn't have anything else to say, and he figured if Kiana wanted to talk, she would bring up a topic.
