Kiana thought for a moment. She glanced at Ruthnak and asked, "What are you going to do? Once this is all over?"

Ruthnak was startled for a moment. That was one question he hadn't been expecting. "Assuming I survive it, I'll probably go back to wandering. I just can't get used to staying in one place for too long."

Arielle cocked an eyebrow in response to Falch'nus's comment. "Ay, well, if there's one thing I've learned"- she nodded absently at the dwarves and kept walking -"beggars haven't the the luxury of choice." Her eyes were busy, scouring the passersby, looking for any who even vaguely met the description given by the barkeeper. "What would be your preferred method of assassination? It'd not be well to take him in the open; chases are not to my likin'. Think fast," she added, turning to face Falch'nus and cutting her eyes far to the right, "I see one of Neverwinter's finest."
Even from a distance, he stood out, tall and dark as promised. And a woman with him, too, a very pretty thing, small and golden-haired. Arielle frowned - this could get complicated with a witness, and she didn't like taking more lives than she was paid for. Working for air pence, that was what it was. The mercenary preferred gold.
But no. The target, obviously noble, helped her into a carriage and closed the door. He watched it depart before turning and continuing alone down the road towards them. As he drew closer, his features became clearer, and Arielle cursed under her breath, wishing she'd come on this little spree alone. She knew him, yes, but more importantly, he knew her.
Containing her reaction, she glanced at Falch'nus. It would be interesting to watch him at work.

Kiana nodded, "What are the chances that all of us will survive?"
This was a question lingering over her for the whole journey so far. She wasn't ready to die, nor wanted to.

Falch'nus cursed quietly when he clapped eyes on the target. Pleasant surprise. He'd never dismissed assassination as a possibility, but the barkeep's instructions had been a bit vague, though Arielle and the barkeep seemed to have some mutual understanding.
And yes, there was a difference between a bounty hunt and an assassination. But it couldn't be helped. Too late to back down now.
Slowing his steps, he loosened his sabre in its sheath and scanned the battlefield. Broad daylight. Three battle hardened dwarves just around the corner. Their target hadn't noticed them yet, but neither did he look a novice to the jeweled rapier hanging from his belt. Somehow they would have to lure him out, preferrably into the shadowy alley in which they'd observed a moment ago.
Falch'nus narrowed his eyes. The foppish man certainly seemed a unique class of self-dubbed hero. He glanced askance at Arielle, looked her over - not suggestively, but with an air of careful calculation. A cloak could hide her weapons, and a plain kerchief he kept at his belt would cover her facial features. Even with the cloak, her lithe form would still scream woman.
He raised an eyebrow. "In the mood for playing damsel in distress?"

Ruthnak said, "I don't know. But then what are the chances of anyone surviving even another normal day?" he shrugged. "At least, that's how I look at it. Always ready for death, but still trying to avoid it."

Kiana nodded, "It makes sense."
She readjusted her parcels in her arms, "If we keep having to outfight orcs and magic, there's no way we're going to survive."

Arielle gazed warily at the mercenary for a moment, then grinned carnivorously. She liked the way he thought.
"It's not a thing I do often," she admitted. "But what matter, I'll be givin' it a try." Shifting the knife sheath at her belt further around her hip, she drew the folds of her cloak about herself, enveloping any evidence of weapons. Falch'nus held out a kerchief to her and she tied it over her head and under her chin, covering her hair and forming a tolerably deep cowl that shadowed her features.
The female mercenary slipped into the alley before the nobleman got close enough to really notice her. He would, however, hopefully notice when her partner followed and began to "assault" her. Arielle cleared her throat, getting ready to scream.

Falch'nus likewise grinned, though for what reason it was harder to discern. Arielle and damsel in distress did not sit well together, though admittedly she was quite the resourceful incognito.
He backed her against a brick wall, still considering the best method of bogus attack. At length he also adjusted his weapons belt, hiding his blades behind his green cloak. His lean frame hardly labeled him a brutish thug, but neither did he expect the quarry to know the difference.
"My aim isn't what it used to be," he warned, with a perfectly diabolical smirk. Couldn't hurt to put her on edge. Out came his fists, his right one swinging a blow straight for her face. It swerved at the last instant, grazing her cheek to slam harmlessly into empty air.

((Oh yeah, I was going to post but forgot, sorry!))
Ruthnak just nodded. "Speaking of mages, shall we make our way back towards the gates?" he didn't really want to go back to where Crove was waiting, but he could only stall for so long.

"I agree. I'm geussing everyone will be back soon enough." Kiana said. They turned their direction and headed over to the gates.

Falch'nus was already waiting by the gates, his cloak slightly bloodied, his coin pouch more than slightly heavier. The bartender was a generous employer, accounting the efficiency at which the job had been completed. And Arielle was as good an actress as she was a swordswoman. The nobleman had died without a shout.
Now the mercenary lounged on the wall right beside the gatehouse, offering him a vantage for watching the activity at Mirabar's entrance. Upon spotting the approach of Ruthnak and Kiana, he nudged himself off the wall and slung his heavy pack over his shoulder. "Ready? Has anyone seen our sorcerer friend?"

Crove approached silently from behind Falc`nus, he noted his cloak had been stained, recently it appeared and that only meant that the man had gone against orders. Crove suddenly grabbed the end of Falch`nus`s cloak with a tight grip as he examined the new blood stain on it before after a short while letting the cloak go. Crove flashed a cheerful and at the same time eerie smirk on his face as he walked next to Falch`nus.
"Been going about doing some business I see, really... someone could get hurt in such activities, I mean someone must have gotten hurt in such an activity...."
Crove suddenly placed his hand on Falch`nus`s shoulder, he let the hand rest there and it could be easily brushed off, if moved.
"You might not value your own life, but were the guards to gain information about your acticvities then you would be in serious trouble and might get thrown into jail. Now I speak sincerely and for all of us, no one us are charmed by the thought of getting locked behind bars again, let alone have one of our group members lost during an important mission.
Yet then again losing you wouldn`t be a real loss to me anyway or anyone else, but please do stay in line whilst we are undertaking this gravely important task, will you?"
Crove said with a hostile yet agitating tone in order to make it clear where they stood all tough little did that matter in the end, but it might just be necessary until they would reach the end of their journey.
"Where is the rest of this lot?"
Crove inquired as he raised his hand up as, if confirming his own presence.

OOC: Oops...I forgot about this one. Sorry all. But I'll try to remember now.
IC: Tallis went about his business in the town getting what little supplies he needed (mostly food) and wandered around town for a while, purposly avoiding others from their ragtag band of escapees. Then he sighed. It was time to come back to reality and go back to their meeting point. Crove and some others were already there when the avariel arived.
At Crove's question, Tallis responded, "Well, I'm here; albiet a little later than most of you."
