Margaret watched from around the corner at the top of the stairs as Christine shrugged her shoulders talking to the Phantom. 'Here I go.' She walked out and got to the middle of the stairs when some one saw her and gasped, some thing like how beautiful. This caused every one in the room to look at her. but she just looked at one man, the man she loved.

The Phantom heard someone gasp, so he looked to see what it was. He was then looking at the most gorgeous woman in the room. He smiled lovingly at her and slowly walked towards the bottom of the stairs, with his hand stretched out to her.

Christine saw Margaret and smiled widely. It was the dress she had worn so long ago. She looked to Raoul and hugged him, lovingly. "Isn't she beautiful in that dress, Raoul?"

Margaret smiled at the Phantom as she took his hand. Yet she wondered if he remebered the dress she was wearing. She was then led to the dance floor.

Raoul smiled a bit, his sister was beautiful. "Your right, Christine, she looks amazing. But I wonder how she got the dress. I know you wouldn't have given it to her, am I right?"

Erik led her to the dance floor and then started waltzing with her, slowly. He was smiling at her, the whole time. "You are so beautiful, Madame Chagny." He whispered and smiled more.

Christine looked back to Raoul and shook her head. "No, I didn't give it to her. I didn't even know they still had the dress here." She sighed and looked to the ground.

Margaret smiled at the Phantom. "Well thank you Monsiour. It is a great pleasure to be commented by one such as yourself." She went in closer and rested her head on his chest as they danced. "Do you like my choice of dress?" She asked quietly. She blushed as she heard his heart beat faster with nervousness.

Erik rested his head on top of hers and sighed happily. "I love it..." He whispered again and then closed his eyes to dance more.

Christine wasn't dancing. She was sitting on the stairs, looking alone. She watched the others dance, enjoying it. She smiled at the other's faces. She remembered her first masquerade ball... when she and Raoul announced their engagement.

Margaret closed her eyes as she breathed in his scent. Oh, how she missed that. The last couple of days she had to help prepare for the ball so she wasn't able to visit him down below like she had before.

Raoul looked at Christine. He had to leave her for a short while because the managers had to tell hime something. When he got to them in the office there was La Carletta, in all her glory. Her train had been late, and now here she was expecting to be welcomed, and return to her post on stage, as the diva. But she had found out about his sisters peformance a week ago that night. Now he had a problem, Christine had to know, and that Phantom would surely find out. The couple had to tell him and Margaret, at least to prepare them. "Christine, we have a problem." when the mother of his children looked at him he explained every thing.

Erik ran his fingers through Margaret's hair. He closed his eyes and kissed the top of her head.

Christine listened to Raoul's words and sighed, while shaking her head. "That is awful. What are we going to do?"

Erik held Margaret tightly and smiled lovingly.

Christine slowly nodded. "Alright. Let's go." She sighed and stood up. She took Raoul's hand in hers, and walked towards Margaret and The Phantom.

Margaret looked up when she heard her brother and sister-in-law came over. Troubled looks on their faces. "Whats wrong?" She asked letting go of the Phantom, but still held his hand. Raoul shifted from one foot to the other. He knew it had to be done, but dreaded telling them what was wrong, especially the Phantom. "Well, La Carletta is back. She knows about Margaret's first show last week. She demands to be placed back in the spot light as Prima Donna."

Erik groaned at the news and shook his head. "She never gives up..." He looked around, trying to see if he could spot her anywhere. He wanted to strangle her at the moment.

Christine bit her lip and looked to Raoul. "I'll be back." She ran up the stairs and went to find Carletta.

Margaret hugged the man she cared for. "Please, Erik, don't be unrational." She soothed. But that didn't help for just then the aged Primma Donna burst in. "You!" She pointed straight at Margaret. "You dare to take my place. How dare you? You filthy little worm. You dog. Just because your brother is Vicounte, you think you can do what you want, eh?"

Erik watched as she stormed in and started yelling at Margaret. He promised himself that he wouldn't do anything to her.

Christine saw The "Prima Donna" yelling at Margaret. She glared and then slapped her hard across the face. "I have news for you, Carletta! You aren't the star of the show anymore! Margaret is! Besides... it looks like age is catching up to you." She sneered and folded her arms.

Margaret watched Christine slap the woman, and heard what she said. Unconsiously her grip on the Phantoms hand tightened, as tears glazed her eyes over. Yet she didn't falter, even though the words had hurt her.
