Timothy, sighed and looked out the window, towards that monster in his backyard, then to his little blessing, Lucy.
"But what will the neighbors think?"

Still, the boy, Edward, did not move.
He looked to be frozen in time, wasted of all life, and not wanting to go on.
He didn't respond back to little Lucy, but that shouldn't have been a surprise to her because Edward hadn't spoken a word for the last two weeks.

Lilly told her mother everything that had been going one and both were sorry for the loss of Kim. Lilly ran out the door and over to Lucy's, she heard laughter in the backyard so she walked back there.
She saw Lucy running around laughing and throwing snow but Edward was still quiet and sad looking. Lilly walked over to Lucy "is he ok" she asked "has he said anything yet." Lilly felt so bad for him, he just looked so sad. Lilly walked over to Edward and gave him a hug as best she could, avoiding his sissors. "It's ok Edward we love you" she wispered to him, she wanted him to feel better.

Lucy's smile turned into a frown. She did not like Edward this way.
As Lily appeared in her backyard, she waved to her but not with a smile.
"He's been like this for the past two weeks, Lily. I don't know what to do anymore," she shouted across the yard.
Squinting at Edward she yelled, "Edward, do you want to go for a walk with us around the block?"

"So am I expected to keep him inside this house? Secretly?" Timothy fumed, outraged at his wife.

Edward's eyes flinched to the side, then returned back to their steady gaze.
He slowly took a step back, away from the girls most likely meaning to say 'no'.
A sad sigh escaped in his breathing.

Frustrated, Lucy's small legs briskly walked up to Edward. Grabbing a hold of his arm, she said, "Come on, Edward....a walk would do some good." She smiled trying to make him feel a little better.

Timothy's face drooped down to its relaxed self. "Are you saying we should put Edward back were he was?" He said, distressed.
Although, he looked away from Katherine and spotted Lucy pulling Edward nearly out of the yard, "No no! That's a terrible idea! Get him in the house!" He yelled out the window.

Edward's sad face turned to look at angry Timothy's face, scolding his child.
His black eyes squinted in the daylight sun, and his long, scissorhands drooped at his sides.

Katherine looked at his husband "he can show his face anywhere! leave them be!" she pulled her husband away "i dont know if he is really happy here....if he would want to go back he could....but we WON'T force him"

Lucy's eyes met that of her father's and she said, "But we were going to go for a walk. Can we go, please?" She hugged Edward's arm and slightly hid behind him....fearing her father's anger.

Timothy, walked away from Katherine and back to the window, "No, Lucy, inside, besides, your mother already has had dinner waiting on the table!"
It was true, the small, fold away table in the pastel kitchen had been set with food more then ten minutes ago.

Lucy's excitement dropped and she sighed angrily. Her father never let her do what she wanted to do.....she had a lot of built up frustration toward him.
"Can we go for a walk after dinner?" she asked hopefully. She could smell the food coming from inside the house.
