Hermione locked her jaw, "Where would we hide him, sir? We have done nothing wrong, and Shade will not get expelled."
Hermione was shocked at her own bravery but she didn't falter. It gave her a sense of pride.

Shade grinned at Hermione and then looked at Snape. "Sir, I will not be expelled for standing up for Layien...and I would gladly repeat what I have done to stand up for her again. Now, if you will excuse me, I need to eat. I'm starved." Shade inclined his head towards Snape in a mocking farewell and then turned and left. Snape stood there, dumbfounded, and then stormed off.

Shade went to the Care of Magical Creatures class, glad to be in the fresh air, away from Snape. He loved beasts of all shapes and sizes, and they loved him back...or trusted him, more likely. It was a gift both he and his sister had shared.

Harry followed Hermione down to Hagrid's. He wanted to give Shade some space, but at the same time, he wanted to to protect him.
