Sylan smiled and said, "David, why don't you come over for dinner. I have a feeling I'm not going to be seeing Corison till tomorrow morning and Lanie is out with Josh. We can talk more about it face to face it might help... I know it would help me... wha'da you say?"

he sat there for a moment and then stood up and called his mom to say he wouldnt be home for dinner.
David got to Sylan's house about 15 mins after he had hung up with him on the phone. he knocked on the door.

Sylan answered the door and let David in. The table had already been set and Sylan said,"Make yourself at home." He headed upstares where he checked on Corison and covered her up. He came back downstares. "I was right. She's asleep, nothing to worry about." He said as he seated himself at the table across from David.

Sylan looked at David and said, "You are the first boy that has known about her condition and not pushed her away, you have been her best friend since ... oh I don't know, forever, now you've kissed her and you are expecting her to just throw herself at your feet?" He asked. "You gave her alot to think about, not to mention a whole new set of feelings she has never felt before." Sylan pushed a glass of water over to David.

David galdly took the water. he thought about what Sylan had just said. he sighed. he said a few more things. asked him for advise.
by the time he was done it was almost 11. " i better go.." David finally said.. " thank you for all your help Sy. " he said as he got up.

Josh held Lanie close. she was falling asleep in his arms. " it's almost 11. we better start heading back."
Lanie sighed. " no..we can be late." she said as she sat up and kissed him.
josh kissed back and forgot about taking her home.

11:15 rolled around and Sylan decided to text Lanie's phone. "Are you on your way?" was the question he sent.

Corison slept until the cranking up of an ignition woke her. She got up and walked to the window, looking out just in time to see David's car pull out of the driveway. She smiled and changed into her jammies, then picke up the stuff animal he had given to her for her 8th birthday.

David Texted Sylan at a stop sign, no one was around so he had time. <i> did you want me to check on Lanie or go find her or something?</i> he sent the text then drove to a parking lot to await Sylan's answer.

Lanie had left her phone in Josh's car so she didn't get his text.
after a while of just being with each other, josh took lanie to the other side of the lake where you could see the clear dark sky. the sky was sprinkled with twinkling stars. Josh had a telescope set up. they looked into the sky and marveled at what they saw. they had lost track of all time. josh didn't bother to check on the time. he was caught up in the moment of just being with this girl.

Naw ... but she's gonna get it when she gets home... her and Josh. Sylan texted back.

Coriosn came down the stares and looked around. The light was still on in the kitchen. She walked in a saw Sylan cleaning up.
"Hey look who's up... How you feeling?" He asked looking over his shoulder.
"David was here..." Corison answered before walking over to hug her brother.

David got the text and sighed. Lanie was always getting into trouble.
he knew excactly where josh and Lanie were. he had helped Josh plan it. he made it his problem to get to know the guy so Lanie wouldnt get hurt.
he drove over to the lake and sat in his car watching the two. he sighed. he wondered if him and Corison would ever be like that. he looked at the clock it was almost midnight.
he steped out of the car and walked over behind them.
they were laying on a hill watching the stars. Lanie had her head on Josh's chest.
"ahem..." David said.
Both Josh and lanie jumped up.
Lanie smiled. " david what are you doing here?"
" no what are you still doing here, it's almost midnight...get home now!" David instructed.
Lanie sighed. " alright..were going.." she said as she got up.
"Sylan's not too happy with you two." he said before walking back to his car and heading home.
Lanie looked at Josh. " just drop me off a few blocks away from my house. you don't have to take the heat for this." lanie said as she walked with him to his car.
josh shook his head. " no...this is my fault. i promised to have you home 30 mins ago and i broke that promise. i knew what time it was. " he said as he got into the drivers seat.
lanie got into the passangers seat and buckled up.
" ok...." is all lanie could say.

they got back to Lanie's house around 12:10. Lanie slowly got out of the car not wanting to get in trouble.
she walked up to the front door.

Sylan gently picked Corison up and and walked into the living room. He sat on the couch with her like he had donw just after the fire. He wrapped a blanket around her and just held her.

Corison closed her eyes snuggaling against her brother. She drifted back to sleep, but woke again as headlights flashed into the living room window. "Mmm... Sylan..." She murmered.

"Shh ...It's just Lanie comming home." Sylan said. He heard the door open, and carefully picked Corison up blanket and all, and carried her up the stares to her room.She's lighter then I remember her being... He thouht to himself as he walked back down the stares. "Welcome back. Did you enjoy yourselves?" He asked, he couldn't stay mad at them. They were young, and Lanie needed someone she could rely on incase something happened to Corison.
