Nessa squeezed her eyes shut and tried frantically to get out of the way, eventually losing her balance and falling awkwardly. She rolled over, her eyes huge with terror, and screamed piercingly as she got her first good look at one of the huge monsters.

What to do, what to do, what to do... For the first millisecond, Alex could only stand transfixed, staring stupidly at the approaching dinosaurs. Then his mind went into overdrive.

An army of dinosaurs storming his way.

An army of brachiosaurs storming his way.

Nowhere to run.

Nowhere to hide.

Wait...

Weren't brachiosaurs herbivores?

This sudden revelation bolstered his adrenaline and his confidence. A split second before they would have been crushed, he tackled Nessa and pulled them both down. He squeezed his eyes shut, listening to the pounding of his heart and the much louder pounding of the earth around him.

And then they were gone. They'd passed right over them.

Coughing up dust, he stood back up on shaky legs to see the brachiosaurs already behind him, near the beach.

Nessa was muttering, "I'm dead, I'm dead, I'm dead..." to herself, but trailed off and cautiously opened her eyes, looking up at Alex. "I'm...okay?" she said uncertainly, blinking, and loosened her hands from their fists, which were so tight her nails had been cutting into her palms. "What happened?"

"I don't think dinosaurs like me," Alex posited. "Oh, right... what happened. I... uh..."

Then he turned back around and saw, twenty feet away from them and looking quite hungry, what the brachiosaurs had been running from.

A half dozen two-legged dinosaurs stood there, flicking their tongues and cocking their heads at the strange homo sapiens. They were no more than five feet tall, as Alex noted with an audible sigh of relief.

That was when he saw their teeth.

"Screw my life," he repeated lamely.

Nessa moaned and buried her face in her hands. "Some luck would be nice, for once!" she yelled at nobody in particular, and scrambled to her feet, holding onto a tree.

"Don't run..." she murmured under her breath. "Same principle as bears. Back away slowly..."

"Right.. Who did think of the plan to walk outside in this dinosaur filled jungle?!"
Chris carefully swept all thorns of his arms and spotted Jimmy, who immediately seemed to have succeeded in drawing the dinosaurs' attention.
"Shut up.." he mumbled wile grabbing his shirt and dragging him slowly with him.
As he'd reached Nessa and Alex he panted: "We- need- a hidingplace without any snakes- dinosaurs.. And the kid should stop running!"
He nodded to Mark who almost deliberately seemed to shout to take a closer look at the dino's.

"This is really not the time, Chris..." Nessa muttered, her eyes fixing on the salivating group of dinosaurs. "We need to get rid of them now, and we can find a hiding place later." She glanced over at a pair that seemed to be trying to sniff Mark out of the trees. "Not good, someone come up with something please?"

"I'm thinking.. I'm thinking!" Chris said dropping Jimmy a bit careless at the ground. "We need to distract them.. from different sides, then just run " he mumbled.
Without saying another word he ran over to right side of the dinosaurs and scanned the ground for any kind of rocks.
"Heey you!" he threw a stone in the direction of the brachiosaurs, hoping to catch their attention.

"I got an idea," Alex muttered. "Throw Jimmy and that idiot kid in their path, then run as fast as possible to the nearest time machine." He contemplated their options. He groaned. "Aw, I have GOT to be kidding myself."

Following Chris's example, he dashed out to the left and picked up another rock. "Hey, you! Yeah, you! Get over here, moron, so I can blast your brains out!" He hurled the rock at the nearest one's tiny skull.

The rock far from blasted the thing's brain out. Instead, the small carnivore flicked his tongue once and began bounding after him.

"Aw, you have GOT to be kidding me. ALEX, YOU'RE SUCH A FRIGGIN' IDIOT!" he yelled, turning heel and running for dear life.

Chris dropped his rock. As the monstrous had dino chased the others he just stood there as petrified. These first 5 seconds of silence seemed unreal but then Chris made his way back to the others.
"Great..just great.." he mumbled. The plane crash, giant dino's, monster spiders, poisenous snakes.. he thought that would be about enough for one day.
He spotted Alex and with still trembling knees he said: "Pleasant trip eh?"
