Hailey smiled, then looked over to Elly, "Um, if you would like a horse to ride in the mean time, you could ride my black horse, Star in the meantime while you're looking for a new horse... Shes still in training though..."

"Yeah, you can ride Monty while your looking for a new horse. He's good tempered and will let anyone ride him. Now Shadow on the other hand really only listens to me , sorry, im sure Monty will love to let you ride him." " Just come and give him a try anytime you want to." Hannah said as she heard Hailey offer. She felt like offering too even if Elly wanted to ride Star instead Hannah just felt like giving up an offer. Hannah was done cleaning her horses tack. She said goodbye to Hailey and Elly and went to tack up Shadow. He needed some excersize.

Elly smiled at the girls.
"That's really sweet you guys. But I think I can manage until this financial mess is all sorted out," she said. Her family wasn't having the best of luck with money. She knew, however, it wouldn't be long until she found a new partner to ride.

Hannah went to take Shadow out. She took him to the jumping ring and went over a few cross rails with him to warm him up. She was working on getting him to jump higher and longer. He was perfect for jumping he was an advanced jumped but she wanted him to be able to do longer and higher jumps combined. She started with a high jump. He aced him went over smoothly Then went over some medium high jumps that were long. Like a water jump. He was beautiful. Someone was walking by and she asked the person if he could raise the water jump higher. He was hesitant but he went over it. He hit the pole but didn't knock it down. Hannah took him over it again and he was ready for it this time. He went beautifully over the jump. She was really pleased with his progress.

Hailey smiled shyly, and finnished cleaning the tack. Next she brought Star out and put her on a lung line wiht the english saddle on, after a few rounds of walking, troting, cantering both ways, Hailey tried the mare at a gallop for the first time, and she had a fast, yet smooth gallop. Next Hailey took the mare into a small pasture were for the moment, no horses were being kept. She used the fence as a mounting block, and mounted the young mare. This was the first time she had been on the mare's back. First Hailey walked the mare around the pasture a few times, then walked a big figure eight in the middle so the mare could get used to being steered with the reins. After awhile, and the mare doing perfect, Hailey started to trot. First she did a sitting trot to get the mares rythem in her head.

When Hailey started posting, the mare twitcher her ears back at her, not sure what was going on, but soon got used to it. Hailey next risked doing a canter. At first the mare shook and bobbed her head when asked to do so, but eventually gave in. At the canter, Star went once around the pasture, then started side stepping for some reason, away from the fence. Hailey halted the mare, and looked to see what was wrong, to find that it was just a lizzard that had slightly scared her...

It was Shadows passion to jump he loved it and Hannah could tell he ws pleased with himself. She walked him around to give him a breather and dismounted him and led him back to his house. Hannah was meeting her boyfriend in like 20 minutes. Her boyfriend , Jake Tanner was a english and western rider as well. He loved horses and he owned two of his own. A big stallion who was reverred in breeding around the area named Fancy That. Fancy That was a gorgeous breeding stallion who was a beautiful mahogany bay color. He also had a Gelding named Fred his show name was Junior Mint. He was a dapple grey color and his primary competition horse. She gave Shadow a good washing and turned him out in the pasture. She then saw Jake and ran over to him and he grasped her into his arms and gave her a kiss. She loved this man soo much.

Hailey dismounted, and put the lung line back on Star, and led her near a fallen log. Hailey made the mare go around with the lung line, then when she got bay the fallen log, Star would have to jump it. Star jumped it perfectly. Hailey tried it a few more times, then when the other direction around. Each time the black mare jumped perfectly over the big fallen log.

Hailey now mounted again, and decided to try jumping on the first time on the mare's back. But first she cantered around the pasture once. Then walked two-point around three times, cantered around once, trotted two-point three times, cantered around once, then cantered two-point three times. At first the mare wasn't so sure about Hailey in two-point, and danced to the side a little, but eventually she acted like she had done it all her life. Now Hailey lined Star up for the fallen log, and took a deep breathe.
"I know you can do this, Star, I have full confindence in you."
With that she cantered the mare tward the log, gave Star the que, and she jumped over it, ears pricked forward, then landed perfectly. Hailey went around the pasture, and jumped a few more times, each one better than the last. Hailey dismounted, and led Star to some cross-ties, beeming with pride. Her mare had gone far for her first time being ridden.

Hailey untacked the mare, and brushed her down, and started scrubbing her, washing the dirt of the mare's coat. Hailey walked Star around on the lead rope to help dry her off. Then put her in the pasture, and watched the mare prance around a bit then Star put her head down to graze. Hailey was grinning ear to ear, proud of her little filly...

Jake and Hannah walked around a bit and decided to go out on horse back for the night. Since Jake was un prepared and didn't have his horse. He got to ride Monty. Hannah went to get Shadow from the pasture and tacked him up. Jake tacked Monty up and they went and spent the night under the stars on the trail.


the next morning thw woke up early and toko their horses back to the barn. Hannah was in love and so was Jake. They un- tacked their horses and put them out to pasture. They deserved a nice big rest. Hannah and Jake went back to the barn and Hannah had to muck out Shadow and Montys stall so after she did that Jake took her back to his place to freshen up and watch movies and do whatever.

Elly picked up her cell phone as it rang.
"Elly, it's mom."
"Hey mom!" Elly said. She sat down on a stack of bagged shavings next to the stable block.
"So, did Dancer's customers come to try him out today?" Her mom asked.
"Yeah, and he's sold." Elly said. There was a long pause.
"Are you okay? I mean, it's hard--" Her mom stopped.
"Yeah. I am. I'm excited about Tahoe though. Do you think we can still buy him?" Elly asked anxiously.
"Elly, we talked about this. You remember? We have lots of financial issues right now. Can you last a few months without a horse?" Her mom asked.
"How long are you thinking, mom?" Elly's heart sank. A knot formed in her stomach. She knew she shouldn't be complaining. Afterall, she was lucky to have had a horse. Not many kids do.
"I don't know Elly. I'll call Tahoe's owner and see how much he's going for. Elly, but don't go counting your chickens. Wait a bit, and we'll see."
"Okay mom. Thanks." Elly hung up. She held her breath until she heard the other line click off. She groaned and held her forehead in her hands. She couldn't believe what was happening.

Hannah returned from Jakes house and was beaming from head to toe. She ran up to Monty and hugged his big head. He perked up and put his nose on her back as if he was huggin her back.

Hailey drove home.

The next day, Hailey arrived at the stable, and the first thing she did was bring Star in, tack her up, and bring her to the field with the jumps. Hailey lowered the jumps to only a few feet. Hailey mounted Star, and went over a few jumps. The filly jumped over every one, ears forward. When they finnished a double, Hailey leaned forward and huged the mare's neck.
"You're a natural jumper, Star..."

Hannah ran around the stables mucking out her horses stalls and giving them a qwuick groom. She then walked over to the jumping arena where Hailey and Star were working on some jumps. Star looked beautiful as she went over the jumps. I was so happy for Hailey and Star.

Hailey jumped over a few more small jumps with star. Hailey had watched Star grow up, and watch her be born, so she knew Star had never beened trained. Star was obviously(sp?) a born jumper.

Hailey dismounted and led Star out of the ring, "hey Hannah," she said shyly and stopped when she came to her.
"What do you think about Star's first jump route..."

" All I can say Hailey, is that it looks like she is a born jumper." " She looked gorgeous out there". Hannah smiled at her and her horse. she stroked Stars neck and told Hailey to keep working on her.

She then went to get Monty. She wanted to do a little trail ride. She wanted to gallop around the place.

"Going on a trail ride? Can I come too? I'll ride Dragon though..." Hailey said, untacking Star and grooming her off before putting the black mare in the pasture...

" Sure you can come with. Monty and I were just going to get a nice gallop in across the field and go through the trees and such." Hannah sat on top of Monty as she was talking to Hailey. Hannah waited as Hailey put Dragon's tack on.
