He jerked his head up pointing his nose to the sky and in disapointment in the fact he was correct about smelling a human let off a long slow remorse of a howl.Dragging the last of it out his breath was seen in the air around him as he walked forward to leave the rabbit corpse behind he waited for any others reply.

Winter's eyes widened in shock. She did not go the same way as Silverclaw but sprang out of some roots to the side. She ran along the side and watched as the hunter aimed his rifle. She leapt out on the hunter's left side and scurried beside him, snapping at his legs along the way to distract him. She took cover in the vegetation once again but she kept alert. Preparing herself if more distractions were needed.

He couldd barely make out the gleam of the silver barrel on the rifle, He lowered his head in anger and stalked forward.He held his tail high in dominance of nature and once he got close enough,he emitted a low growl from deep in his throat.

Larka saw this from a low hill. she snarled. Her family had been killed by men and she let out a howl.

Quicksilver huddled over the small pup. She is gone now. That's all she could think to say to a pup so young. Suddely a howl echoed over the forest. Nightstorm tensed, then howled, answering the call. He bounded forward, beconing for Quicksilver to follow. She ablidged, picking the pup up by the scruff and following at a steady trot.

The pup stared at the she-wolf who gave him the news, yet he had not yet fully understood until he saw her laying there all bloodly in the snow.

He figured the situation to dangerous so he fled .He ran into the mountains flinging snow into the air as he ran he went into the mountains hoping to find contact with others,he heard Larka's mournefull howl and went after that tracing the sound he soon saw the wolf.He wasnt quick to approach but stood still instead.

Larka saw the human jump with confusion. He turned and she watched the other wolf run towards her.

The hunter, seeing to many wolves coming at him, turned and ran away without his soon-to-become stuffed Silverfang. He ran into the woods and soon his scent was lost in the wind as he disappeared.

Silverclaw snarled after the hunter. His voice lifted in victorious song. Tail up, he went to stand beside Winter. At the scent of other males, however, he stopped, his lip curling once more.

To his animal instincts, this tentatively formed pack would soon need an alpha. More males meant more competition.

The pup leaped over a log and went over to his mother's dead body, whimpering. He used his nose trying to get her to get up, trying desperatly and so hard that his breaths came in gasps, but he wouldn't stop trying.

Larka looked sadly at the pup nosing his dead mother. She instantly felt sorry for it. How will anyone ever tell him, she wondered.

The pup, finally exgausted, fell backwards and sneezed loudly, falling back and landing in the snow as more snow began to fall again. He looked up and sneezed again.

Quicksilver felt the pup wrigle in her mouth at the sight of his mother. She let him down. He ran to his fallen mother, nudging her, trying to force her up. She let him: he needed to understand for himself. Finally the little pup gave up, completely exhausted. Quicksilver trotted over to the small pup and gently licked his face.

Nightstorm paced around the clearing. His large black coat stuck out from the stark white snow. There were enough wolves here for a pack, but who would be alpha?

The pup looked up at the kind female wolf and asked, You won't leave me, will you? He looked up at her.
