"Oh - Elizabeth." For a moment this was all Will said, and then he seemed to jerk back to realization. Swiftly ducking into the alley with her - he too was aware of the gossips and their all-too-loose tongues - Will glanced down at the rag-wrapped sword. "Jack's back in Port Royal. He wants me to go with him, he said something about valuables incomparable to all in the Caribbean. Elizabeth..."

Will trailed off. How to say this. "You know I'm not rich." He paused, and reached to take her smaller hand in his. It was warm, as always. Will looked down at their fingers entwined for a moment before his gaze flicked back up to hers. "This could be an opportunity I'll regret missing."

Eilzabeth's eyebrow immediately shot up. "Mr. Turner, if I'd had the intention of marrying for money, I would have married James Norrington or one of the other countless suitors I had persuing me. I chose you because you are the one I want - exactly as you are. This," she said, going up on her toes to plant a gentle kiss on his lips, "is the only wealth I need."

She stood in silence for a moment more, seemingly contemplating something, then looked back up at him. "I'm coming with you," she announced abruptly.

"Sure," Marty said. He then caught a pirate walking pass on deck and repeated Gibbs' instruction towards him. The unfortunate pirate went to the crow's nest and gave out his report. "Ship sighted. Four hundred miles from starboard."
"What are the colours?" asked Marty.
"Can't see," the pirate responded. "Black somethin'"

Will grinned briefly at her words - and the kiss - an expression there and then quickly gone; but her next announcement gave him pause. The notion in itself was not far-fetched, but he cringed to think what would happen if her father even heard of this plan. "No," he said. "No, you...your father would kill me."

His objection was well-founded, and he did not even bother voicing the inane others that paraded themselves in his mind. Elizabeth was quite capable of protecting herself, especially after their lessons in swordplay...to his astonishment, Will found himself wishing she could come along.

"I wasn't asking you if I could," Elizabeth retorted. "I was telling you that I am. I'm going to die of boredom if I have to stay here much longer, especially without you."

She'd always been the adventurous type -much to her father's dismay- and had had a penchant for getting into mischief since she'd been able to walk. But since the ordeal with Captain Jack Sparrow and the Black Pearl over six months ago, it had grown even stronger. Now, instead of merely dreaming of adventure, she needed it. She hadn't started learning the art of swordplay simply because she'd felt like it; she'd suspected for quite a while that it was only a matter of time until Will responded to the siren song of the sea. And when that time came, she fully intended to accompany him.

"I have everything I need with me," she pressed, looking up into his eyes. "My sword, my clothes...and my fiance. I'm a grown woman, Will. It is high time my father came to recognize that."

There was a moment of silence while two sides of Will grappled within him. The cautious, rule-oriented side told him this was rank foolishness, and he had no chance of remaining a respected member of society if he ran off with his fiance and some pirate. But the other side whispered thoughts of the open sea...and Elizabeth by his side.

Eventually the reckless side won and the cautious side subsided into muttering silence. But he was not so careless as to walk onto a ship with her in broad daylight. "Meet me at the docks at midnight, all right?" he said, voice a mutter as he glanced up and down the alleyway. "I'll see you then."

And he was gone, stride purposeful and intention likewise.

((Aye, you may! And we're going to go ahead and move forward to the evening so we can get things moving))

Elizabeth lay in her bed, perfectly silent, perfectly still. There were no candles lit in the room, and to anyone simply passing by, she'd long ago drifted off into sleep. But Elizabeth was not sleeping; she was waiting. As soon as the last sounds of activity in the house died out, she silently padded over to her bedroom door and cautiously stuck her head out. The house was completely dark and silent. Perfect.

Carefully easing the door shut again, she quickly discarded her nightgown and pulled on the breeches, boots, and shirt that she'd originally planned on wearing for their fencing lesson that afternoon. She then retrieved a ribbon from her dresser, tied her hair back into a neat queue, and jammed an old tricorn onto her head. Pausing briefly by her desk, she scrawled out a note offering a story about a friend being in trouble and needing her help. It was a weak excuse, and she knew it. However, she was not as interested in convincing her father as she was in simply letting him know that she had departed of her volition. He would see through any story she gave him anyway.

That done, Elizabeth hastily buckled on the baldric and sword that Will had given her and went over to the balcony. Casting one final glance over her room, she carefully climbed over the balcony's railing and grabbed onto the stones that adorned the corner of the mansion. The blocks of stone were just far enough apart to make decent handholds and footholds, and so she began to slowly ease her way down. A few months ago, this climb would have been nearly impossible, but though her lessons with Will had not done much to change her physique, she was undoubtably stronger. As soon as she was close enough to the ground to drop, she did so and hurried through the gate.

It was a fairly uneventful journey through the streets, save for one group of men trying to convince her to join them in the tavern, and soon enough she found herself down at the docks. They were all but empty, but one solitary figure stood there waiting: Will.

"I made it," she said quietly, flashing him a brief grin. "Where's Jack?"

"He's coming." Will indicated, with a jerk of his head, the lone patch of light behind them in mostly silent Port Royal. The tavern. No more needed saying. "Your father doesn't know you've gone, then."

Again he scanned the harbour. The Black Pearl wasd anchored out of sight, but it was always possible a patrol would come by and wonder what on earth the Governor's daughter was doing out at this hour with that blacksmith's apprentice.

As for Captain Jack Sparrow, he'd spent the afternoon in pleasant relaxation. The tavern drunks of Port Royal still harbored fond memories of him, and as a souvenir he'd been carrying the empty rum bottle for the past two hours. He was leaning against the railing of a schooner he shouldn't have boarded in the first place, idly yo-ho-ing through 'A Pirate's Life for Me,' when he heard the familiar voices.

Approaching the solitary pair, his expression morphed from blatantly disapproving to bland curiousity. "Mr. Turner, it 'as inescapably come to my attention that ye brought a wee bit into the equation that I for one don't remember agreeing upon." He flicked an emphatic gaze from Will to his fiance. For the benefit of the latter, he spread his arms wide and assumed a disarming grin. "Elizabeth! Darling! Welcome to m'crew."

Swann's expression was not favoring in the least, and Turner appeared less than impressed. Jack essayed his praying mantis gesture that bordered on more taunting than apologetic. "Ah yes, William. She's all yers, eh?"

"Jack," Elizabeth replied neutrally, inclining her head slightly in acknowledgment. She instinctively drew a fraction of an inch closer to Will, though not for protection, but rather to state in no uncertain terms that she was taken. Anxious to depart before anyone might note her absence, she quickly steered the conversation toward more pertinent matters. "Where is the Pearl?"

"Aye, if we're to go we need to get aboard," concurred Will, likewise shifting slightly to move closer to Elizabeth. The move was almost unconscious. He turned briefly to scan the quiet town behind him. No trouble, but only one person needed to see Elizabeth for them to be found out.

(I have a question. The crew and Jack are together? or are they at somewhere else?)

((Well, they will be shortly. The crew is still aboard the Pearl, which is where Jack, Will, and Liz will be heading as soon as LDM posts...))

"Ah, the Pearl," Jack conceded with a tip of his precious tricorne. He tapped his chin as though at utter loss for direction. At length he voiced another "ah" and sauntered off the docks, headed for a rocky promontory outside of Port Royal.

Never sparing a glance over his shoulder, he skirted the fortified walls at a pace leisurely enough to make any vigilant sentry itch to shoot him. Fortunately for him, fog shrouded the shoreline and vigilant sentries were nonexistent. The promontory obscured their view of Port Royal, so everyone with the exception of Jack Sparrow relaxed their guard as they descended the headland to the rocky terrace. To the relief of all, Jack did pick up his pace, gingerly picking his way among the boulders. They were all out of breath by the time they reached the sheltered cove harboring the Black Pearl.

"Welcome to m'ship," he introduced with a touch of pride, gesturing extravagantly and unnecessarily at the anchored vessel. Marching out to the edge of the water, he began untying a dubious rowboat.

Will followed, habitually scanning the smooth moonlit waters outside the cove for any disturbance. The Pearl looked the same as ever, if slightly weather-beaten, and he firmly beat down the impulse of relief upon reaching to climb from the rowboat onto the deck. This was temporary, nothing more. A few months and they'd be back in Port Royal, happily married, with thoughts of the sea behind them.

Will pretended to himself that this didn't spawn feelings of wistfulness, and offered Elizabeth a hand up.
