Viree13 listens in, drifting closer to na'Tatha but not close enough that she can sense her presence. "So, little Miss Politico's gonna be on live tonight, huh?....." She moves over to Sahrai and sits in the seat beside him. "How d'we know she's really gonna help us.... You can't trust the political type, if the Sith are anything t'go by......"

Sahrai blinked. "Oh, yeah...we're meeting up with them just short of the Maedan/Taarin border, but we're not actually going to be landing and relaxing or anything...whoever's there first will wait until the other ship shows up, and then they'll take off and the two ships will then go together to infiltrate the Maedan base. Sorry I didn't make that more clear earlier." When na'Tatha got a message on her datapad and then commed y'Garam, Sahrai got more interested. "You're going to be doing an interview on TaaraNet while we're trying to infiltrate a base? That will be interesting....we'll try and give you a large radius with the blasterfire, so that the mike won't pick it up." "The Sith aren't actually that great of an example," Sahrai thought at Viree. "Thankfully, most politicians aren't Dark-Side-wielding killers who use the Force to cloud their opponent's perceptions...instead they're mostly back-stabbing liars," he added wryly. "But I think na'Tatha will help....she isn't an average politician - she's actually had first-hand experience in the military, which makes her nearly-trustable. He wondered what na'Tatha would think if she heard that. It was hard to tell. Another thing occured to him, though. "Could you please become visible? It's starting to get boring talking with someone I can't see." He had a feeling she would think that was funny, but it was true.

Viree13 laughs, the sound suddenly becoming audible to the whole room as she flickers into view, sitting primly in the chair beside him, grinning cheekily......

na'Tatha didn't bat an eye. She'd known that the shapeshifter had been on board, due to her reluctance to miss any action. The only question had been her location - and now that question had been answered. The subcommander answered Sahrai's comment smoothly.
"I'd hoped the timing wouldn't exactly coincide with the actual action. Our techies at headquarters can filter out any background noise, but it's hard to keep one's voice steady in the midst of combat. Believe me - I know. I'll do what I can to have the interview time moved forward."
Pulling out her comm link, she contacted her aide. "te'Scimon, this is na'Tatha. I've got an interview request with TaaraNet, but I want it done as soon as humanly possible. You don't have to be polite about it, just make your point with them. Pressing business, national security ... yes, you get the point." She thumbed it off.

Sahrai snorted in amusement as Viree became visible, then raised an eyebrown visibly when he noticed na'Tatha didn't react. Not a bad personality analyst, then. He nodded his head in appreciation as she pulled out her comlink to try and change the time of the interview. It probably would have been possible to give her a clear, calm, secure area for her interview, but it would have been difficult. "We're coming up on the rendezvous point," he said as she turned off the comlink. According to the sensor display, Daaron and his team were already there.

Viree13 shimmers slightly and turns to face the front of the ship, even though they're still in hyperspace. Her excitement is almost visible in the way her skin shivers and ripples with various skin-types, such as fur, scales, and even spines.....

"Noted." She was about to add more when her aide commed her.
"Subcommander, the only possible time they have is in two minutes. From the way they're talking, it sounds like it's going to be short and brutal."
na'Tatha's inward grimace managed to sneak on to her face. "Well, I did say as soon as possible. Make sure my comm link is feeding through the techie stations at headquarters." She closed the channel. Straightening in her chair, she closed her eyes, trying to compose herself. When she took this interview, it would be as Subcommander na'Tatha of the Taarin, veteran officer and political specialist, objective and distant. Nothing more, nothing less.

We're actually not in Hyperspace, Luinnar...we're only crossing to the other side of the planet, so no need to go that fast, lol.
Smirking a bit at Viree's excitement, Sahrai changed it to a grimace when he heard na'Tatha's announcement of the time for the interview. "I think we'd better wait at the rendezvous point for a bit, just to make sure you have enough time for the interview," he said, sending a signal to Fahl's group to stay put. He landed the Serendipity next to them and put the engines on standby. "You're clear, for now."

"Thank you, sir." na'Tatha opened her eyes and thumbed her comm link on when the expected transmission came through. She placed it on the seat next to her to avoid sound distortion.
"Subcommander na'Tatha?"
"This is she."
"We'll be broadcasting your voice live in three ... two ... one ..."
A second voice, the news anchor's, fed through into the speaker. "Here to discuss this issue with us is Subcommander Tenil na'Tatha. Her credentials include current service with Taarin ground operations. She's a respected strategy analyst and is speaking to us remotely from the administrative palace. Welcome, Subcommander."
na'Tatha gave the standard response, trying to sound as open as possible. "It's good to talk to you."
"I'll get straight to the point, Subcommander, because I know that you have many demands on your time. The question we've all been asking: Are we at war with the Maedan?"
"War has not been officially declared," she answered smoothly. "However, it's impossible to ignore the fact that armed hostilities are taking place. I strongly urge that all civilians - those whom we in the military are bound to protect - take all necessary precautions during this time. Please, be assured that we're neglecting no option in order to bring this situation to a peaceful, stable resolution."
"What about the larger galactic community? Our world is not affiliated with any of the larger political organizations, but surely they must be aware of our situation."
na'Tatha almost smiled. The anchor was asking all of the questions she might have asked. "I assure you, we have not been neglected. You are probably aware that the New Republic sent several Jedi to mediate negotiations between the two peoples of our world. They have since indicated that, because we were clearly not the aggressors, the New Republic supports our taking preventative measures."

(Ahhh, sorry, brain not functioning today......)
Viree13 calms down as they land, the shimmeriness about her diminishing into a cold exterior of silent brutality. Her hands run along the belt around her waist, checking the weapons hooked there.........

Lol....my brain wasn't functioning yesterday....today it's doing alright, though.
Sahrai sat quietly, waiting for na'Tatha's interview to end. He noticed Viree checking her weapons and grinned. There had been a time when he did that, but for some reason that urge had left him after he attained the rank of Jedi Knight. "What's the hold--" Daaron's voice broke in from the comlink, cut off in the middle as Sahrai slapped it off, irritated with himself for not thinking of it earlier. He shared an anxious glance with na'Tatha, hoping the techies in the Taarin military had managed to cut that bit out, and gave a sigh of relief when the interviewer's questions mentioned nothing about it. That was close, he thought.

"And what might these 'preventative measures' include, Subcommander?"
na'Tatha didn't miss a beat. "They include everything in our arsenal. Diplomatic, economic, political, and military measures. I'm sure you know that we were in the midst of significant talks with the Maedan government when the recent hostilities began. Although we're still open to a diplomatic resolution, we're looking at economic sanctions, trading embargos, and yes, military strikes on their missile launchers. We will not tolerate the continuance of the current situation. Rest assured that we are trying to minimize the civilian casualties on both sides."
"Are there any last words you have for your compatriots?"
na'Tatha hesitated. "Only this: I think I speak for all of the Taarin armed forces when I say that we have sworn an oath to preserve peace and justice. We have no intention of breaking it."
"Strong words, Subcommander. Thank you for speaking with us."
"My pleasure."
The channel closed. She leaned back in her chair, drawing deep, quiet breaths. It was over.

Viree13 sniggers as Sahrai's commlink goes off, and then looks over at na'Tatha. When she doesn't bat an eyelid, Viree13 groans. Politics...... Ugh....

What book is the quote on the banner from, Valera? It sounds like something between Kyp and Jaina.
"You handled that nicely," Sahrai said when Valera finished the interview. "Better than I would have. There are reasons I'm not an analyst." He grinned - and blushed - at some memories of when he had tried, then assumed a straight face. "Okay, let's get moving," he said, taking the engines off standby, and turning on the comlink. "Sorry about that, Daaron - I don't know if you were listening on the worldwide network or not, but we just had an interview from here, and we didn't want any background noise."

"Thank you, sir," na'Tatha replied coolly, and began checking out her gear. Hopefully di'Mano would get the impression that she was, indeed, cooperating. The problem now was deciding when to turn on him.
I think the quote is from Rebel Dream - not entirely sure because I haven't had time to read for a few months.

Viree13 fades away into invisibility again, but remains silent this time........
