Bret glanced back at the mall one more time, then followed after Shonnalen. He shifted his duffel bag to get a better grip on it, feeling the unfamiliar weight of the gun at his belt.

Shonnalen stepped round a corner only to colide with a very fast moving person. The force sent her spraling, and she scrambled puickly back to her feet and pulling her hand gun from it's hiding place.

Brendon looked dwon at his at Trudy and said, "Yeah, let me help you." He pulled the covers back and helped her stand.

Trudy was still wearin her cheerleading shorts and a tube top she had to put on so they could get to her sholder. . her hair was a little tossled. she laughed. " brendon..my legs work i can get up myself." she said. but she did hold onto his sholder for suport. she stood up, careful not to pull her stiches.

Brendon looked over at Trudy. "No you don't ... you don't need to be pulling on those stiches... the dishes can wait. Now sit." He stired the oatmeal and cut up an apple.

Trudy sighed and set down the dishes that she had in her hand and sat back down. " i can't wait until i can do things again..." she sighed. " when can i take these stiches out?" she complained.

The last thing Ace expected to see when she looked up was the cold barrel of a gun. A knife maybe, even a sword, but not a gun. Her hand instinctively went to her side where she held a short blade, but froze there as she thought better of it. Her face showed no emotion, no fear... nothing. "Take that out of my face." Her voice was flat as she stared up at the older girl and the guy with her.

Shonnalen lowered the gun and held out a hand. "Who were you running from?" She asked searching the darkness between the buildings. She looked back down at the girl.

Ace stiffly got up. "None of your business. You run from anyone on the streets here, does a specific person matter?" It was more a statement then a question. She looked warily at the gun the girl held. "You always go pointing that at people's heads with out a reason?" She kept her hand near her own hidden weapons.

Shonnalen looked at the girl with ammusement in her calm blue eyes. "If I feel threatened then yes... and you running around a corrner and into me in "this town" constitutes a threat... for all I know you might have picked my pockets." She blinked, the amusement now gone from her eyes. "There's an abandoned mall a few blocks from here. If you're looking for a safe haven you'll find it there." She walked past the girl dissapearing into the shadows.

Brendon turned and looked at Trudy. "Those stiches won't come out for about three weeks. You know that as well as I do Trudy... Shonna just put them in a few hours ago." He looked back at the oatmeal, then turned off the heat and spooned some into a bowl, decorating the top with apple slices befor handing it to her.

"Sounds interesting," Kira responded with complete amusement and slight enthusiasm, "I have seen them juice these things before." Kira indicated as she glanced over the fungi samples and proceeded, "It was one of those three in the morning shows that I only watched because I couldn't fall asleep, and I felt bad enough that no one would watch it if I didn't."

"I don't need a safe haven! I am just fine, thank you very much!" She yelled after the dissappearing girl. "I can take care of myself just fine... I don't need a safe haven!" She muttered to herself. For what seemed an eternity she stood there listening, for what, she wasn't sure. She heard faint, slow, deliberate footsteps down an alley, and decided she wasn't sticking around any longer. She began to jog, then run. Before she knew it, a huge building loomed in front of her. She pulled up, slightly panting, and looked at what lay before her. She made a face. It was the mall the girl had told her about. "Darn subconscience decisions.... " She muttered to herself and with hand on knife, she found a way in and was soon standing in an apparently deserted mall. She took a few careful steps forward, and seemed to hear voices.
