Airithnu then suddenly felt nothing weighing her down and she keep her wings steady and gracefully. She saw a huge shadow come over her and as she looked up, at the same time she heard a voice in her head say,

Flying should be a bit easier now.
My great thanks to both of you. You might have just saved my life. I don't know how much longer I could have gone. She confieded in them, grinning.

Rena looked from side to side at everyone, and how the storm had started to wear them out.
If I was stronger... had more power... I could have directed the rain, the water away from everybody. She thought glumily, feeling tired and worn out...

Meridian landed on the ground heavily, shuffled his icy wings and started to run, keeping pace with the Chosen flying over head.

Where are we stopping? Meridian asked Firis, his mind-voice weary.

Good question. Firis shivered and wrapped a cloak around her and the Egg.

Emmeline looked around and spotted a clearing below them. Emmeline looked around and shouted for them to fly down. Emmeline gripped her saddle as Sabrah dove to the ground. She landed with a thud and slid to a stop on the muddy grass. There was a clutter of thick trees nearby and Emmeline trotted Sabrah over there. They needed to start a fire to dry off.

Tiernan vaugly heard Emmeline's call do descend, but Talyn heard just fine. First the giant roc swooped down to see if the clearing was big enough for him to land in and once confirming that it was, he settled down, his great weight making him sink slightly into the grass.

Tiernan jumped down from Talyn's back, causing water to splash up over his boots. He began looking around for a bare patch of land where he could start a fire. As the other began to land, Tiernan asked for their help with find a bare patch, though it didn't nessarly need to be a dry one.

Meridian slowed to a stop in the clearing, sending a spray of grass and mud up into the air.

"I'm f..f...free...freezin." Firis said through her chattering teeth as she slid off of Meridian. She picked the egg up out of its saddle bag and placed it gingerly on the ground. She dug a shallow pit and placed the egg in it, lighting a magical fire around it.

Here.Meridian scraped a patch of ground clear, drying off the ground with a blast of his blue-purple fire. He lay down and nodded at Firis. She sat down beside him, and watched the other Chosen land.

Granit landed quickly, and Rena jumped off. She looked down at her soaked cloths, and then at Granit's soaked fur.
I could dry us off, if you could please lend me some strength? she asked Granit, who nodded, and gave her enough strength so Rena could use her magic to comand the water on the both of them to seperate itself from their bodies, and fall to the ground bellow.
"That's better," she said, and looked around to see where she could be most helpfull...

Airithnu was still flying when about half the group decended. She gladly swooped down and landed on the ground, and right before her talcons hit the ground, she shifted back to her human form. She stood, her egg still intact and dry in it's pouch, but other than that, she was soaked and shivering. She looked at the group, utterly tired, but she would be the last to admit it.

"I can make you dry with my magic... over water," she offered...

Rena nodded, and with the help of Granit's strength, comanded all of the water off of Airithu. For a moment it swirled around her, then fell to the ground, as it had done to Rena and Granit.
"No problem. Don't want anybody freezing to death," she joked, then clamped her mouth shut... death... it was a terrible word even though it has been almost three weeks since it had overcome the others, yet it still stung.

Rena shook her head.
What's done is done. Care for the eggs is the mission, she though, before checking, double checking, and triple checking her violet egg.

Airithnu smiled and thanked her. "I thank you again." She said simply, inclining her head, then her eyes filled with worry, and she asked, "Are you okay? It seems like a burden just filled your heart..."

"It's just hard... We told you how most of the original chosen were killed..." she shook her head. "Sometimes I wish I could grow up... adults seem to be less burdened by it," she smiled, and stuck her hands in her pockets. "But, it's the fate of all humans, which is what I am. Cursed with a short life. At least mine isn't as meaningless as most..."
