Jack fumbled for words, before saying, "I have a compass..." He looked rather annoyed, mumbling, "I also have a map."

Kayala looked shaken up as Edward continued laughing. Slowly, cautiously, she stood up to walk over to Edward. Hand trembling, she reached out to touch him, voice also breaking, "Edward...?"

Edward stood and brushed the splintered wood chips from his shirt. “Sorry ‘bout that, Kayala,” he chuckled, then suddenly went silent and still. What was going on with him? He felt now as if tears would pour endlessly down his face. He didn’t know how much longer he could survive in this place and keep his sanity intact. He missed Vari, Daviel, Lotty, Cole… even Joe. And it was that thought that made Edward realize he had become more desperate than ever to see any of his former crewmates again.
-----------------------------------------
Daviel folded his arms across his chest, returning the glare Joe gave him. He was relieved that nothing had transpired and now he had the opportunity to calm down and gather his thoughts. If it was a physical fight Joe wanted, a physical fight he was going to get. He could picture it now; all of the building tension of the past few months being released in one solid blow to Joe’s face. Oh, how good it would feel, but he knew that Carmon would never approve of him stooping to that scum’s level, no matter how much she detested him as well. But right now he could not worry about such a thing, for this strange man had wandered onto their ship and they needed to be careful that he wasn’t some sort of Redcoat spy…
Although, his demeanor was rather bizarre for a well-polished soldier, and Daviel was beginning to think that he was a bit… insane. “If it’s a map you’re looking for, you’ll have to take it up with the Captain. Where are you planning on going anyway?”
-----------------------------------------
Vari jumped slightly, caught off guard as Carmon kneeled down beside her. She had been so lost in her own thoughts that she hadn’t heard the other girl approaching, or the boy, looking rather confused and frightened. “Confused… bloody confused…” In her hand she held the gold ring inset with a ruby gem; the one Edward had given her years back, the one that had never left her hand until this very moment. Perhaps it was time to leave old lovers in the past and finally move on. How could she even be sure that this place they were headed to was real? All they had to go on were stories - fables… and Jack’s word, which frequently could not be trusted. But, Joe of all people? She truly had gone mad. Yet, something primal had seemed to awaken inside of her… the part of her soul that longed for passion and craved touch, and Joseph was the only one who could give that to her now. “I think there’s some spark between him an’ I… outrageous as it sounds.” She added, looking past Carmon with a distrait air about her.
-----------------------------------------
“Well, we’d best get some sleep,” Joanna sighed, rolling onto her back and staring up at the ceiling of the tent. “Perhaps by tomorrow the storm’ll have moved past. Then we’ll get a fresh start.” She wondered if Keyara was all right… perhaps she could look for her tomorrow. The girl had done some questionable things, but going out in weather like this made Joanna wonder if Keyara had lost her mind. Not even the most skilled sailors would travel these seas during such a storm. But for now she had to see to their guest and make sure Lotty had everything she needed before she left… or they left, if Joanna would be allowed to travel with Captain Applegate and her crew. Within moments, sleep overcame her, but a troubled one, nonetheless.
-----------------------------------------
“It’s Beckett!” Richard hissed, the name like acid upon his tongue. He tugged on Cole’s sleeve, starting to walk back towards his shelter. “We should get outta here… sun’s gonna rise soon and we’ve not had any sleep…” He would make up any sort of excuse to get away from this place - away from the man that destroyed his life.
-----------------------------------------
Keyara turned and headed up the stairs and towards the bowsprit of the Flying Dutchman. She peered over the railing, watching as the ship gradually gained speed in the calm waters. Countless people in white rowboats passed them by, each guided by an oil lantern, but none seemed to notice the grand ship. Their gaze was fixed upon the horizon ahead, and there was no hint of emotion upon their faces; it was if they were de-… You forget this is the afterlife… everyone is dead here. Including you a voice inside her head reminded. “Oh… that’s right,” she whispered. A chill ran through her body and Keyara wrapped her arms around her chest as she continued watching the ocean ahead. She hoped they would arrive there soon with as little distractions as possible.

"The sea!" Bane said to Daviel in a tone which indicated that it was an obvious answer. "The sea!" He ran over to the bow of the Pearl and spread out his arms, raising them in the air like he was calling for God. "The sea!" he cried out again. "We shall sail to our destiny! Sea! Fly! Flee!"
He listened to his words echoeing over the calm water, watching the horizon. For a moment he was silent as if he just realised the meaning of his words. "I feel, feared, fled" he mumbled.
Abruptly he turned back to all present at the deck. The brief moment of awareness had already been forgotten and a smile had reappeared at his face. Bane set his hands at his side, a look of indignation, resembling a toddler who'd been denied attention by his parents.
"Well?"

The girl smiled wirely, patience strained, yet somehow able to keep up with her.
Poor Edward... she thought sadly, I hope he doesn't go crazy... "It's alright..." Kayala Murmured, eyes down cast.

Joe stared at Bane for a moment with his mouth hanging slightly open in shock at the man’s reply… at all of this insane speech actually. It was a good thing for him that Daviel and Captain Jack were there otherwise he might’ve continued to stand there with the stupid, blank expression on his face. As soon as he saw Daviel come up on deck, however, he regained himself (and his scowl) and decided to let little Davi handle this, this man from… well, wherever he had blown in from! Joe rolled his eyes as if this were beneath him, and he really thought it was, and turned on his heel and strutted off. At least Daviel was now in good company. He was now with all the rest of the resident idiots on board. Not that he thought Jack was a complete idiot, the guy had a good mind he was just a little strange. Either way, he decided he would still be waiting for Daviel and teach that boy a good lesson later. With this thought in mind, Joe went back down below deck and began picking up the things which had fallen away to the ground during his and Vari's... encounter. He heard faint voices as he did. Joe stood up from his position on the floor and looked around to see where they were coming from.
-----------------------------------------
Another sigh slipped out of James’ lips. He turned back to the rest of the people at the table and decided to finally join them. The mood in the room had turned completely solemn and a good place to breed depression and insanity. In an attempt to get his mind off the past and out of this place, James looked around the small home. There was nothing impressive about the place at all. But it was an interesting place. Not at all like the wealthy mansions he had been used to staying in, living in and working in. however, there was something about it that struck him. He couldn't put his finger on what it was. “So,” he turned back to the others at the small table. He was grasping for anything to start a conversation with. Anything that would help him forget… forget Elizabeth, forget all the pain and misery he had seen and gone through.
-----------------------------------------
Carmon sat quietly beside Vari for a while. She looked down at her own hands resting in her lap and thought over her friend’s words. “It’s a pretty ring,” she finally turned to Vari and smiled softly. After a moments hesitation, she decided it was time to dig into the real subject. “Vari, are you… are you sure?” she couldn’t wrap her mind around what attraction to Joe anyone could ever have. “I think you’re just lonely.” she looked down at her hands again and tried hard to push back her tears as she thought of never seeing Cole or Ed again. “But… but if this works,” she paused, keeping her emotions in check, “they’ll both come back soon. And then you’ll have Edward again and you won’t have to settle for… him. For Joe.” she looked over at Vari and forced a small smile even as tears visibly welled up in her eyes.
-----------------------------------------
Lotty nodded and sat quietly on her bed for a little bit after Joanna had closed her eyes. Every now and again a striking flash of lightning could be seen lighting up the night sky outside. Finally, she laid down on her cot and stared at the ceiling of the small tent. For a long, long time Lotty listened to the pounding of the rain outside. She didn’t know why, but she felt afraid to go to sleep. Almost as if something would lurk into her dreams… something unpleasant, something she didn’t want to have to deal with. Another flash of lightning outside followed by the roll of the thunder. Far away she could hear the waves of the sea crashing against the beach. “Be safe,” she whispered before falling off into a fitful sleep.
-----------------------------------------
Cole froze where he was. The name “Beckett” seemed to have frozen not only his whole body, but his blood too. “Beckett?” he whispered back hoarsely. He didn’t move when Rich pulled on him. Mostly because he just didn’t know if his legs could move him back to the small hut. The twilight air was chill and it felt like he had been standing so long that he must be frozen in place. Well, that and the fact that the Lord Cutler Beckett was standing only a few yards away. Without even thinking, Cole blurted out, "but why run?”
-----------------------------------------
Cutler waited and waited for the two figures to reply to him. He was beginning to get impatient… perhaps they were just spirits? Just figments of his imagination after all? A small frown creased his face and he craned his neck a little closer to see if they were talking… or moving… or anything. He wasn't insane. That he refused to believe. They were there.

Daviel was growing more impatient by the second as this clearly crazed man was only worsening the situation by avoiding his questions. Keeping his emotions in check, he moved beside Bane and leaned against the railing of the Pearl. “Yes, we are already on the sea… but what land is it you’re traveling to?” He hoped they could settle this soon enough and get the strange gent to wherever it was he wanted to go so he could make sure Vari was all right, and more importantly, that Carmon had not been touched by that womanizer. He shuddered to think of the earlier encounter, but with Carmon in the brunette’s place. That would truly be the nail in the coffin for him. Glancing past Bane, he noticed that the sun had now long been completely swallowed by the horizon and darkness was quickly overcoming them.
--------------------------------------------
Vari caught the tears welling in Carmon’s eyes and shook her head, hugging the younger woman close. “Isn’t easy losing someone ye love… I’ve experienced more death than one person should e’er have to see in a lifetime.” Her mind wandered back to her mother, Maribel, deteriorating as each moment of her final days passed; her father slumped in the old rocking chair, the alcohol on his breath sealing his fate; Richard, and Ed - both taken by sword… none of them were easy to handle. She had hardly eaten or slept during the days afterward, unable to think or breathe or function properly. She could only hope that Carmon did not have to live through half of what she had. “If… if this place is real,” she began, voice coming as a broken whisper, “then I think I shall be giving up piracy all together.” Although she hated to admit it, even Vari knew she couldn’t do this forever.
--------------------------------------------
Edward glanced upwards as James spoke for what seemed to be the first time in ages. “So…” he replied awkwardly, “it’s, um, it’s… raining… outside.” It was only after the words had come out that he inwardly chided himself for sounding so idiotic. Of course it was raining, as the loud plunks on the tin roof so blatantly expressed. Striking up a conversation about the weather? It was gauche small talk that attempted to hide the real matter of them going positively insane in this desolate desert. And it was something they knew all too well, so Edward could only offer a small smile, the corners of his lips upturned slightly. Eternity in the locker was turning out to be one hell of a punishment.
--------------------------------------------
“Lad, ye can’t be serious…” Richard groaned, having already made up his mind long ago that he would much prefer to escape from his problems rather than face them. “I don’t want to have any more unpleasant conversations - ” here he paused to yawn, “ - an’ besides, it’s far too early in the mornin’ to deal with such filth. Can’t we just head back and find something to eat?” He knew he sounded like a whiny little child, but honestly Richard wasn’t sure of how many more meetings with old ‘acquaintances’ he could handle.
--------------------------------------------
Time ticked by slowly for Keyara. Had it been days, months, years, since she boarded this ship? It was hard to tell, but turning her emerald eyes back to the horizon, she could see the first rays of sunlight were beginning to appear upon the miles of seemingly endless ocean… and was that? No, it couldn’t be… Far off in the distance, she thought she spotted land; an island of sand jutting from the center of the aquamarine waters, but perhaps it was only a figment of her imagination.
--------------------------------------------
[[For Lotty and Joanna, I’m going to wait until it’s morning in the Living World to post… since it wouldn’t be very exciting to detail them sleeping… ]]

Kayala smiled, faintly. Way to point out the obvious Edward...She had almost said it too. She beamed at her friend.
