Erimak slightly grimaced as he prepared himself. "I assure that the only thing you will forget is us..." said Erimak. He began chanting the words. After he finished, he touched each of their foreheads. As soon as he did, he placed a shroud of invisibility around him and his mean and they disappeared.

I was cured all right.

Kith growled as he heard Erkanis muttering words. "La'a! Emshi, fajer!*" Kith yelled, lapsing into his native language. He scurried away, shifting as he did. He shifted to a panther, one that was much larger than any other panther. He growled, showing teeth.

*Roughly translated (Very roughly) it means "No! Be gone, evil man!"

Braad ran along the hallway after Kith to the armory. He quickly found his daggers and strapped them to their normal places. He smiled a bit, glad to have them back within arm's reach.
When he returned to the others, Erimak was chanting strange words. He quickly touched Braad's forehead. He looked around the hallway quickly. He remembered coming out of his cell and to the door, but he had no idea how it had happened. Shrugging it off, he moved towards the door.

Erimak and his Death Bringers rode quickly towards their citadel, a secret place where no one outside the organization knew about. Erimak had made certain that they would be loyal to him. As they reached near the citadel, one of the Death Bringers waved a dark blue and green flag that depicted a snake around a sword. Soon on the ramparts, a similar flag was waved, which allowed them to approach. Three guards, armed with bows, appeared on the ramparts as Erimak and his party approached. "Name, face, and phrase," one of the guard demanded. Erimak's group lowered their headscarves and recited their names and phrase. It was standard procedure for everyone to be challenged like that; even Erimak allowed them to do it. After the guard verified their identity, he allowed them in.
Erimak's second in command, Meiais, approached them as Erimak dismounted from his horse. "So how many this time?" asked Meiais.
"Four," replied Erimak. "Though they seemed content to go on their seperate ways."
"Memory erased?"
Erimak smiled and said, "Meiais, are you accusing me of neglecting my duty? Of course they don't remember us."
"Good, we launched a couple more prison outbreaks and found some people interested. That is, of course, if they can find the way."
Erimak continued to grin as he allowed himself into his chamber.

Kith was surprised. The men had dissapeared from sight. But from smell and sound? He wondered. He shifted to a dog shape, one of the long eared trackers favored by the rich. His nose became strong. The smell of Erkanis and his men filled the air. Kith followed it, reveling in the hunt. The scent brought Kith to a citidel. The men suddenly appeared, and rode up to the gate. The shiftshaper hid behind a rock, shifting easily to a sparrow. Without so much as a glance in his direction, he was over the wall, where he spotted Erkanis. "What are you up to, my friend?" Kith chirped to himself. As much as he would like to leave these men alone, he couldn' help but be intrigued by thier "operation" they had going here.

((Okay, well, looks like I'm on my own ))

Meleth stood still for a moment, looking thoughtful. How had she suddenly transported out of her cell, to the outside of the fortress? Something tugged at a corner of her mind, like a shadow that disappears when looked at full-on, and she frowned, trying to pin it down, but abandoned the effort.

She sighed, watching Braad move away, and wondered where he was going - and where she should go. Not home, that would be the first place anyone looking to recapture her would search.

Braad looked around, confused. One minute there had been a man standing beside him, then a panther, a dog, and then he lost sight of the man- a shape-shifter he assumed. He moved out of the fortress door at a crouch, watching for any guards.
Suddenly he remembered the elf woman who had also escaped. He turned, looking at her. "Care to come with me?" he asked. "I'm not sure where I'm going, but that's better than here."

She gave a reluctant smile. "I confess I'm in agreement with you." She looked undecided for a moment, and then, with a glance over her shoulder, took a few steps toward Braad. "I suppose it couldn't hurt, for now, anyway."

"Exactly." Braad said, bowing to the elf. "May I be inquire as to what you're name is? I am Braad, in case you were wondering." As he spoke, he continued moving away from the fortress.

She followed, fingers absently tapping the hilt of her sword. "Meleth. Of nowhere in particular, anymore. Pleasure to meet you, even under such unfortunate circumstances."

"Pleased to meet you too." Braad said, walking into the forest. "I must confess I'm from nowhere in particular either-partly from choice." His voice was casual, but his body was tense, and his eyes darted around, watching for any trouble.

"Indeed?" she inquired. "I would disagree, then - had it not been for...unfortunate cirsumstances...I would be very happy at home." Shy noticed his alertness and allowed herself a smile, at some private amusement. "Pray relax, if anything is coming I assure you I shall hear them before you do."

Braad smiled and bowed again. "Many thanks, my lady. My alertness comes from a long-standing habit."

"Old habits die hard, as they say, do they not?" she asked ironically, striding deeper into the forest.

"They do indeed." Braad responded. After a moment's silence, he said, "May I ask as to where you called home? You don't have to tell me if you don't wish to."

Meleth glanced back at him for a moment, with a slightly calculating look, before replying. "It's an Elven city, in the far northern mountains. I would be very surprised if you had been there or even heard of it - it has been a long time since even I have had reason to go back, though I miss it." There was a moment of silence before she added. "I wonder, too, if they would have me back. Those who know me have always suspected I would get myself caught someday, and disapprove. What I suspect they did not think, though, is that I would escape."

Meleth gave a frown, as if trying to remember something in the very far, dim reaches of her memory. "I do wonder how it happened..." she murmured, as if to herself, and stopped as a burst of commotion could be heard inside the fortress behind them. "Ah, it looks as though our departure has been discovered. Come, they will be looking for us before long." With a few swift steps she plunged deeper into the forest.
