Jack's eyes sprung to Devina who had now blocked the door, his only escape.
Sadly, they rolled back over to Portia. After sitting in a few more moments of silence he said quietly but cautiously, "All right."

Portia slowly walked over to the door and stood in front of it. She bit her lower lip and watched Jack and Devina closely. She didn't want to do this to him, but they had no choice.

When he was close enough, she deflty pounced on him, twisting her hand into his elaborate hair to keep him stable, and swung her fist.

"AH!" Jack yelped as the woman punched him hard across upper head. Here, he started to whimper. It was the first time for Portia and Devina to see Jack not fight back.

Portia swallowed hard and winced a bit. She hated seeing Devina do this to Jack. But, this was the only way to get his memory back. She couldn't love a six year old Jack. She sighed deeply and looked down to the ground, as she guarded the door.

Devina steeled herself, and repeated the action, throwing her whole weight behind it. She had never punched a child- or a child in a man's body before, and somehow it made her feel guilty.
