Rena was still out of it, so when they attacked, Granit had to keep dodging, and flying in random patterns. The buckskin had to be carefull so the nockedout thirteen yearold would fall off. Suddenly something ran into Granit, making both horse and rider fall down tward the lava. Granit recovered quickley, and went after Rena who was falling tward the lava. The mare dropped to be between Rena and lava, and could the fainted girl...

(Herreronychus is a really long word. I think I will shorten it down to Herre, if that is alright)

Kith swung the sword, slicing open the chest of a beast. As deftly as possible he began to fasten buckles around his legs that would keep him from falling off Kiowa, even when she rolled or looped. As he blundered with a tie, a herre dove, and slamed it's talon's into his chest. Kiowa doged, enough that the talon's missed his chest and instead cut his arm. He growled and pulled out a dagger with his free hand, and stabbed the herre in the wing joint. It lept off him, flapping awkwardly with a wounded wing.

Aurora grabbed her sword as Midnight charged with bared teeth. She cut down some of the Herreronychus's wings that were attacking her. They backed off but more still attacked. Aurora kept on fighting as Midnight dove and spun kicking out with powerful hooves.

Moran swiftly ascended, leaving their attackers behind for a moment. This only served to make the Herre's more angry. One flew above them, shrieking wildly before diving into Moran, its fangs sinking into his flesh, despite the scales. Moran roared, and Mirima hacked at the beast's fangs with a vengeance. Several other Herre's attacked Mirima until she finally chopped off two teeth, and drove back the first Herre.

"Crymson! We can't do this for much longer! Any suggestions?" she said telepathically.

(yeah Herre is fine, i was just thinking about changing the name for RP purposes but Herre is fine)

"Nope, no ideas, but if you all clear out i think Dawnfire may be able to get rid of a few." Crymson replied as she lashed out at several of the smaller ones with her bloodied sword. Dawnfire opened his mouth to roar but a very small Herre managed to lodge itself into Dawnfire's tounge.

As Dawnfire screamed out in pain, several of the Herre's horns broke at the high pitched scream. Dawnfire shook himself and drove straight up, towards the ceiling. He jabbed his tounge out of his mouth and smashed it against the ceiling, killing the Herre and dislodging it from his tounge.

Kith grumbled curses that would make a sailor blush, and finished the ties with his good arm. Blood leaked freely from his arm. His healing abilities were few and weak, but he managed to magic his arm until the bleeding stopped. He switched his sword to his other hannd. "Enough." He growled. He had not used magic in a while, and was brimming with it. He needed to scracth his itch. He focused on a diving Herre, setting it aflame like a flying torch. The beast screeched as it plummeted to the ground below. this he did with three others, before deciding it was time to pick up the pace. He had picked up several tricks, and new ways of killing that took no more effort that cuting a ropre with a sharp razor blade. Magically cutting the cork in thier spinal collum killed them, both quickly and almost effortlessly. "Those with magic!" He called. "There is a cord in their back. Cut it, and they will die intsantly!"

Sorcha heard Kith call advice. She didn't have much magic, but she figured her sword would work just as well. Etain flew up again, 3 or 4 Herres followed. The horse suddenly switched directions, and dove. Sorcha clung to the saddle with her legs and left arm, and lashed at a Herre's back with her sword. She made contact, slicing through flesh, and the beast hurtled downwards. The remaining mosters kept close to Etain. One flew directly above him to keep him from acending again. The others dodged in and out, never getting close enough for Sorcha to reach, but keeping Etain moving.

Aurora focused her magic and used it against the Heere. She killed several.

Shaking himself and diving, Dawnfire released a huge plume of grey-black fire. It engulfed several of the Herres, almost hitting the rest of the Chosen.

"Sorry!"He called out once he was satisfied that the Herres were dead.

Aurora shook her head.
"Quite alright." She said to Dawnfire.

Dawnfire nodded ascent and shot towards the cieling. He latched on with his claws, exposing his tough scaly hide on his back to the Herres. He squatted closer to the cieling, looking like a giant fly, hanging upside down. Crymson held on tightly and looked down. Two Herres went after them but they couldnt get their sharp teeth through Dawnfire's tough hide. Crymson lashed out at them with her sword, which was now crackling with green electricity.

Kith felt the pleasant heat of Darnfire's breath. Several of the herres found it not so pleasant. The burned beasts fell to the ground. He watched, a moment to long. Kiowa screeched a warning and dove. Kith just managed to duck as a herre grazed his back. It wasn't a bad injury, just slightly painful. He grimised and used his magic again. this time he threw sizzling yellow lightning. It hit a herre, and it fell. "Let me help you" Kiowa purred. Brilliant white ligtning shot out of her front talons, hiting three herres and killing them instantly. Kith was amazed, but not surprised. His frined was as full of secrets as he was. "How did you do that?" He asked quickly, doging a herre, then slicing upwards with his sword. "I am a griffin. We are creutres of the air. Though this talent is not natural to all air cretures, but it is to griffins, when the time is right."
"When is the time right?" Kith asked agian.
"I don't know." The griffin admitted. "But you know when it is"

Mirima blocked the heat and fire from Dawnfire's attack, and took Kith's advice. Summoning a blue flame about her sword, she shot it directly at the spinal cord of a smaller Herre, hitting the target perfectly. The creature didn't even have time to screech before it fell down dead. With a smile, Mirima instructed Moran to fly closer to a large Herre. From her palm came an invisible strike of magic, eliminating another foe with little effort. "Excellent idea Kith!"

(This next post is from Dume's POV)

Throught the battle, Dume had been watching. He was safe distance away, away from the Chosen's insane magic and the giant Dragon's magic and fire. Long had the Herreronychus needed fresh meat. One of their Slyph spies had seen the group of twenty-four beasts and their human companions, some of which were not humans. He had brought a small attack squad, thinking they would be easy to kill. The Herreronychus' would have freash meant.

But Dume had been wrong. They were too powerful and knew the Herreronychus' weak spots. He shook his head, watching his group be slaughtered. He flashed his head sideways and his eyes met with the Dragon named Dawnfire. The Dragons eyes glittered with maleovelance as he dropped off of the cieling. He rider held on as he winged his way towards Dume. Dume nodded, knowing that he would not last this fight. He bolted like the coward he was, leaving his scattered squad to be slaughtered.

Etain continued to dodge the Herres, but wasn't able to break away from them. Suddenly the one flying above him dove, biting into Sorcha's back. She gritted her teeth. As the beast let go, leaving some of it's teeth in her skin, she let go of the saddle, grabbed a long dagger at her waist, and stabbed backwards. She caught the Herre right under it's chin. It screeched and veered off. Sorcha quickly sheathed her dagger and caught the saddle again. Etain dove up, away from the Herres.

Aurora focused her powers to her sword and lashed out at the Herre's weak spots. She killed several more. Her horse flapped it's powerful wings which shot them upwards. Aurora killed some more.
