After a few hours, Peter woke up and opened his eyes slowly, then shifted a little and winced, realizing the herb had worn off. Oh great..

Ev suddenly jerked awake, hearing movement for the first time in three hours. "Oh," she said, her voice groggy. "Sorry -" she said, grabbing some more of the herb. "Here, here you are...sorry, I fell asleep, too...lazy afternoon," she laughed.

Peter made a slight face, then took the herb from her and took it, getting it down a little easier this time.

Ev made a face, then shook her head and said, "Honestly, you're worse than a child..."

Ed's eyes suddenly opened, and he saw Felicity asleep a little off to the side. He leaned his head back again, not wanting to disturb her.

"You try choking this stuff down, then.." Peter said, wrinkling his nose.

Felicity had heard him moving, however, and she woke up and stifled a soft groan as everything spun. Oh good Lord...I'm eating my words after all..

Ev grinned, then said, "Fine, you have that. But do you have to be so pouty about it?" she asked, reaching for a cloth to wipe his forehead again.

"Yes, <i>pouty</i>," she said, grinning and laughing. "I'll tell you what - <i>you</i> try dealing with yourself when you're injured - see how you like it," she said, turning to him.

Peter shook his head slightly, before sitting up straighter, and stopping himself from wincing. "I admit I'm not a good patient..unless you, for lack of a better word, drug me, like you've done.." he said wryly.

Ev gave him a doubtful look. "How so? All I did was give you an herb for the pain, without which you would've been a nightmare and a half," she said, squinting and going a millimeter closer to his face for dramatic effect, restraining herself from smiling.

Ev grinned, finally giving in to the humor of her own sarcastic remark and not noticing that she had actually surprised him, then turned back to the cloth she had been wringing. "Sorry for surprising you," she said, "But it <i>would've</i> been difficult."

"I know.." Peter murmured, before shaking his head slightly. "Bet you'll be glad when I get better, so you won't have to deal with me.."

Ev laughed, then said, "Number one, I have to deal with you anyway. Number two," she glanced at him, "I didn't say I minded that much." She started to dab at his forehead again. "Your fever's going down," she said.

Ev paused and looked at him in disbelief. "You're still going on about this?" she asked, laughing. She avoided eye contact with him as she continued with the cloth and his forehead and said, "And no, I don't mind."
