Adsiltia hung her head in despair when she heard her master's voice echo in her mind. She had been leaning wearily against the trunk of a tree, already exhausted from the work that they had already done, but now she had to put her tiredness aside and do whatever it was she was bidden.

She had tried to resist before. She had tried so hard. But the only thing that came from resisting was pain. Unbearable pain. Finally it got to the point where she couldn't deal with the pain anymore. At least when she obeyed his will, it didn't hurt her. Not physically anyway. Adsiltia knew she was broken.

Raven black locks shadowing her downcast face, she moved to stand in front of the Controller. Her pale gray eyes which used to hold so much fire and life, looked up at him without emotion. "What is your will, master?"

Somewhere deep down inside her, a voice was screaming. Have courage! it told her, Where is your strength? You cannot give up. Never give up! But Adsiltia subdued it, putting it back down in that deep, dark place in her heart.

The controller smiled wickedly, then pulled out a long, thin, menacing dagger.

"As you all well know, the full moon is hours away. And this time, you will all help me. Help me to destroy the town. And to kill everyone in it."

Hythraii shook his head. No! He thought. I can't! I won't! But, he knew he would. He would shed innocent blood, kill poor children and women...just because his will was taken from him.

Hythraii cursed. He hated it, absoultely hated it! He glared at the Controller, who he knew was named rightly. But he sighed heavily. He didn't want to do this.

There has to be something strong enough to break this curse... was the first thing that came to Aaron's mind. He gritted his teeth. He knew his sister lived in that village... he would not kill her... he wouldn't allow the others to kill her... he wouldn't allow the controler to kill her. But what can I do? What?

Mira stared up at the Controller with a blank expression on her face and no words that would date come out of her mouth. Her mind wandered with thoughts of No, I won't and the like to the memory of the book she was reading. Weird, she thought, really weird. I am going to have to take a look at that later.

Hythraii got the same feeling Aaron had thought. What to do...what to do.... His mind kept asking him, but sorrowfully for Hythraii, he had no answer.

Jaken stayed stony-faced at the Controller's words. He had decided that his only defense against the wizard was to keep his emotions and thoughts carefully hidden.
In his mind, though, he was screaming to himself. I can't, I won't! I won't kill innocent people. There must be a way to break the curse! At the same time, he knew he would kill. He had no choice. He looked around at his fellow cursed, knowing they must be thinking the same things.

Trillan grined evily as she steped out from behind the Controller. Her long deep blood red dress kissing the ground. She was a very beautiful young girl with long dark black hair with red tips. Her skin was kissed by the sun but nothing about her was bright or cheerful. Standing quietly by the Controllers side, she lifted her hands to hold onto one of his arms. Trillan knew this group well, often she would have her fun by playing mind games with them. Standing there she could pick up on some of there thoughts and feelings. She knew right well that none of them wanted to do what her 'father' ordered.

Her dark crimson eyes scanned the group then she grined and opened her mouth to speak.

"If you wish not to do as my 'father' asks then purhaps you should just kill yourselves now" she spoke harshly.

Trillan was smart, she knew that not one of them would take such an easy way out of there suffering. Her words would be a hated taunt, a crule joke. Though still young, only 15, she was as wise as those who now stood before her.

"Though if you choose to take that path, it will do the people of the town little good. They will still all die, each and every one of them" Trillan said focusing her eyes on each one to get her point across.

Trillan turned to the Controller and looked up at him, her long dark hair flowing down her back.

"Father, will i be able to help destroy the town" she begged in a inoccent way.

"How do you wish us to kill them Sir?" Asked Marien tonelessly. He gaze had not flickered at his words. Out of all of the cursed, she was the one that had fully perfected the art of drawing into herself. She hardly thought about what she did now, locked in her own little world. Yes, that made her the most vunerable to Trillian's mind games, but she no longer felt the physical pain that the Contoller inflicted.

Alec stared at the ground and tried to empty his mind. He knew that Trillan liked to pick up thoughts- or feelings.. He could feel that the other Cursed tried to resist but he'd learnt that by keeping his mind blank, he could be stronger.
Alec noticed Adsiltia, who stood next to him, her struggle and he looked at her for a moment with a soft smile and then concentrated on the dusty earth again.

Hythraii, though, keep looking at the ground. He may have to do this evil deed, but he would not enjoy it, nor speak up any questions or concerns about how to do it or when. All he could think of is how to get out of it.

((Whoof, I'm behind. Bio:

Name: Elaitha
Age: Immortal Elven, but rather young for her race. Appearing perhaps 19.
Race: Elven
Gender: female
Appearance: Unusual (for an elf) wavy nut-brown hair that goes to the middle of her back, brown eyes. Of average height and almost too slender to be healthy. Being forced into service has taken its toll on her, and she isn't strong enough to be very helpful. Quite pale generally, and has a small triangular face with high cheekbones.
Personality: Very quiet and rarely hot-tempered or fiery.
History: I have ideas, but I'm not sure they'll work with this particular world. We'll wait and see :)))

Elaitha's eyes followed the dagger the Controller held, glinting as it did in the moonlight. She did not reply to his command, but nor did she resist.

The elf maiden had given in long ago - ceased trying to escape, to break away. Experience had told her time after time it was futile. Aye, she hated him. But there was nothing to be done. Her tears had ceased to fall, replaced only by a numbing sense of the inevitable. Elaitha would do whatever he ordered - and only the remaining fragment of herself, buried deep within her, cried out in agony at every new horror she was ordered to commit.

Still her eyes followed the dagger, as if by looking only at it she could bury the knowledge of what she did. The Elven race was powerful, but only as far as their magic went. The Controller's dark magic tore at Elaitha's being, contradicted everything she'd been born with and learned.

Some of the others whispered things, phrases of defeat and hopelessness. Elaitha stayed silent. She had known all of that long ago. All that she knew to do now was accept it - give in to what she could not escape.

Riley stared at Trillan in what she hoped was a blank look. Once again, she didn't want to do his deed. As far as she could tell, though, there was no way out of it. There never was. And the voice in the back of her head told her that there never would be. She turned her head toward the ground and pretended not to care about what he said.

Tears stung Adsiltia's eyes when the Controller told them of her task. How could she do that? How?! Ever since she was small, before she had been forced into servitude, she had shrank away from killing, not just other people, but anything, ants, spiders, other pesks. It just wasn't in her nature.

But now she knew that it mattered not what her nature was or what she wanted to do. She would do what she was told, as she always did. She had no other choice.

Briefly, the despair took hold of her, and her face crumpled in anguish. Her exhaled breath came out as a sob and she had to choke back another one. Just breathe, she told herself soothingly, In and out. In and out. Take this one day at a time.

It took a moment to get her composure back, but finally she was able to resume her emotionless mask of indifference. She looked back up at the Controller, and her face was resigned. What could she do but give in. Was there anything? No, she didn't think so. There was no escape from this torture. At least she might be able to give the townspeople a quick death, maybe startle her victims in their sleep, not giving them time to feel the fear. She tried to tell herself that that would make it easier.

But in her heart, she knew it changed nothing. She was still comitting murder, and she still hated herself for it.

Trillan looked at each person carefully, trying to read their thoughts. Most tried to keep them from her but it was useless after awhile. When her eyes set sight upon Adsiltia's her evil grin widened. She took a few steps and soon stood right in front of the girl.

"It must hurt you so to do things you wish never to do" she taunted. "To kill when that is the very thing you've tried to avoid your whole life. Pitty, and to think, if your kind hadn't come and killed my 'fathers' family, you might not be in this possition."

Trillan walked around the girl, her evil mind thinking for ways to make her suffer even more. Seeing how this girl reacted, she would be the weakest of them all. An easy target for her mind games and her evil tricks. Trillan picked up on the thought of how Adsiltia wanted to kill the people and grined. Turning back away from the girl she walked back to the Controller and once again place her hands on his arm.

"Father, i do believe that Adsiltia wishes to kill the towns people quickly so not to cause them any pain. I think it should be the other way around don't you?"

A fleeting look of horror crossed Elaitha's face before it was again blank and she retreated into herself. With an effort she tore her gaze from the glittering knife their cursed master still held. It was a mark of how utterly despairing the elfmaid was that the thought of herself holding that knife, killing people, made her only numb and disbelieving...when at first she had wept and cried out at the horrors they were forced to commit.

The world blurred momentarily before her and Elaitha steadied herself against a tree, hardly able to stand. Events had taken their toll on the already slight elf maiden, but she had found out painfully that her weakness could not rescue her from service - it only made the Controller more cruel.
