Logan followed the interchange with a slight grin on his face. Stepping out of the car, he walked up toward Ted and Eric.
"Had you had dinner with Mr. Melvin the night of the accident?" He asked casually.

Eric took in the two other detectives in a glance, then responded, "No, I was at home with my wife. The last time we had dinner with the Melvins was... maybe two or three weeks ago. I think Laura- my wife- and Clara spent more time together. Shopping, movies, that sort of thing."

"When was the last time your wife and Clara spent time together?" Scott asked Eric, his eyes unwavering.

Ted, rather irrated of the questioning and how mundane it was becoming, retold Scott and Logan that this was a murder, not an accident, and soon walked over to the car for a better look.

Peeping inside, Ted yelled, "Ah-ha" and totally interrupting the other conversation. Holding up a small coin, Ted looked over at the group and told them, "What? It isn't everyday you find a quarter at a crime scene."

Scott looked back at Ted's car so he wouldn't see him roll his eyes. He loved his boss. He looked back at him and said, "You've never found a quarter in a car before?"

"I've never found a quarter at a crime scene before, but keep going with your mudane interrogation. I will handle the other threatening ones in the future," Ted instructed Scott with a hand gesture and knelt down to embrace a better mental picture of the situation the night before.

Scott sighed. He looked over at Logan for some help, but didn't ask another question, for his first one had not yet been answered.

Eric looked from the car back to the detectives. "I don't know when they spent time together last." he said. "You'd have to ask my wife."

A quarter? Logan shared an exasperated glance with Scott. What was so exciting about finding a quarter at the crime scene? Most likely it had fallen out of a wallet into the car at some point.
"That sounds like a good idea," Logan rejoined. "Is your wife around now? I may want to ask her a few questions."

Ted wandered around the car with his hands in his pocket and causually kicking at different parts of the car. No one really could ever understand why he would do half of the stuff he did, but he was good at what he did.

Scott shrugged at the glance from Logan, and was glad he wasn't the only detective that didn't know what was so exciting about the quarter. Then, he nodded at the answer Eric gave him, also nodding to the reply that Logan gave and, again, he waited.

"I'm not sure where she is." Eric said. "I was at work when the police asked me to come here, and they took my cell phone. Something about 'confidentiality' or... something."

Scott nodded, sighing. Then, he had an idea. "Does your wife have a cellphone on her?" He asked Eric.
