Phyllis could hear someone and forced herself to wake up. She opened her eyes a bit and could see two girls in front of her. She couldn't do anything but she stared at them with pure fear. They've found me she thought. It was a trap. They will bring me back to the plantage now She crawled back, until she felt barrels in her back. She lowered her head, she didn't dare to look into the girls' eyes. "Please..." she finally whispered with a trembling voice. "You have found me. I ran away...I know. Don't send me back. Don't send me back to master Timothy...please."

Lee froze when the girl awoke. She saw her trembling and glanced over at Kat when she listened to the girl speak. Lee's heart turned towards the girl and she knew right away that she was a runaway. Lee looked over at her, noticing how the girl wouldn't make eye contact. "Shh, shh, it's okay." Lee whispered back, her voice soothing. "We are in the same boat as you...literailly and, um....well, I don't know the other word for it, but you see, we snuck onto the ship too! We had...a hanging in store for us, and we had to escape. We would never turn you back in!" Lee said, trying to smile. "I am Lee Stone, but most call me "Bones."" Lee said, glancing over at Kat to introduce herself.

Kat smiled as best she could, trying to offer comfort. "My name is Kathryn Rogers, but my closest friends call me Kat. Where exactly did you run away from?"

Phyllis still didn't look into the girls faces, nor did she come closer to them. I'm...Phyllis..." she said after a time. "I...I...worked for Master Timothy Johnson, but I ran away. I...I...Master Timothy was drunk...again...he...he...I was scared...so scared...he hit my mother, my father. He often did this when he was drunk, when he was angry...when he was in the mood...he punished everyone...me too, very often. I wasn't a good worker for him. But this time he didn't stop...he hit them, didn't stop...until they weren't moving anymore. They were laying down...just laying there...there was so much blood. I ran away...I was so scared...and now...when they find me..." She couldn't speak anymore, but curled herself up and sat there, not saying anything anymore, but she began to sob very silently.

Lee looked down, hurt. She couldn't imagine your last memory of your family would be watching them get beat up and die and then having to run for your life to escape the same fate. Lee's heart once again turned towards the girl and said softly, "Master Timothy won't find you here."

"He won't?", Phyllis asked carefully as she looked at the girls for the first time. She was still curled up, hugging her legs. She laid her head back on her knees and signed. Tears were still running from her face. "I couldn't help them", she whispered softly, shaking her head. "I never could help them. The Master was too strong, too powerful. I couldn't do anything." She hid her head in her legs again and began to whisper under her tears, in a language nobody could understand, the old language of her tribe, of her people "Mother, Father, Annalika, my sister...be protected and carried home back to God in Heaven. I will never forget you, you shall be with me in my heart as long as the stars are seen in the sky."

Lee wasn't shaken by the new language, but waited until the girl--Phyllis, she believed she said her name was--done speaking. Then, Lee spoke once again, softly. "Don't worry...we are going out to sea. I...I don't know who is the Captain, nor anybody who is on the crew...or...or even where we are going, but I do know it is away from Master Timothy. And if we ever go back, I will give Master Timothy a piece of my mind!"

"Going back would only bring us closer to Beckett," Kat reminded Lee. Suddenly it hit her. "You know, we can't ever go back. We won't see our friends ever again. If my parents were still alive, I could just hear them saying they're dissapointed in me! ...Lee, what have we done?"

Lee turned to Kat, looking down. The relization hit her as soon as she remembered hearing the snap of the rope of all the hangings that were happening right down from her house. "I don't know..." Lee said, sighing. "My mother is probably thinking I have dishonored my father by running away from home..." She said, a tear slipping down her face. Her father was just killed by the natourous Captain Davy Jones, Captain of The Flying Dutchman. Lee's fist clentched up on it's on instict as she thought about how this vogage could in fact help lead her down the path to advenge her father.

Phyllis finally managed to raise her head and looked at the girls now. She hesitated, she didn't really dare to ask or say something to the girls, since she has always been told to be quiet in front of people which where higher that herself...which meant everyone exept of other slaves. She lowered her head again as she spoke to the girls. "Where...where do you come from", she finally asked with an undertone of respect and caution. "Why...why are you here...on this ship?"

Lee looked back over at the girl. She knew that she was scared and timmid, and she knew it took courage to leave that place she came from, and yet she was surprised the girl asked. She glanced at Kat and said, "We are two royal ladies...and tonight...we accidently killed a man. The hangman's noose is waiting us back in Port Royal. So right now...we are stowaways, just like you."

Phyllis nodded, her head still down. "I'm sorry to ask you, I didn't know this" she said. Then she was quiet again, she didn't dare to ask more, she knew they where at the same state now, but the two girls sitting in front of her were still of another world, a higher world she wouldn't reach. After a long pause she struggled to speak again. "I...I'm trying to get back. I want to go back to Africa, to my people. I don't know if I manage it, I don't know where this ship brings me to but I want to go back, I miss them."
